What is this trend of selling your characters all about?

General
I see more and more people "selling" their OC's, and honestly it kind of makes me sick.
The reasoning behind that is as such:
1: It seems like a cheap cash grab
2: It's even worse if you got the character from somebody else (such as adoptables, etc)
3: And probably most importantly of all, I tend to think of my character ("RCT") as my personification. He represents me, and I would never want to sell him, even if somebody made an offer (although I know no one would, as my character is extremely generic [orange fox with purple paws/ears]).
I just feel like I'm so disconnected from the furry fandom. I don't understand the idea of having multiple fursonas. People say 'oh each one represents me in a different mood." You can have more than 1 fucking mood. If you want my honest opinion, people getting "new characters' is just a plea for attention. It's a "Hey, look at this new character I have!" and everyone in their telegram group says "Ohh, nice character' and they get their ego boners for a few days, then it passes, and a few weeks or months later they come in with a new one when their attention quota is running low. But of course you can't bring this up because then it becomes a personal attack and that person gets all their friends together to flame you and belittle anything you have to say (I've seen it happen so, so many times). I also think sometimes people change their fursona so that other people will change their opinion of them. "Oh, character 1 was rude and kinda shitty, but character 2 is sweet and innocent." Nope, it's the same shitty person, with a fresh coat of paint that they paid real money for. #HotTakes
50% of submissions on FA are YCH's or adoptables, most of which are cookie-cutter or duplicates; if I'm going to get art of my character, I want it to be original, I don't want it looking like 15 other pieces. I also can't fathom the crazy amount of money some artists are bringing in (especially the pron artists). I'm super jealous, the fact that one art piece can garner as much money as I make in a month (or more) in some cases. The social status quo is in full effect in the furry fandom.
In all honesty, I'm feeling disconnected from everything (both Furry and regular society), and it scares me. Kids like weird shit and terrible music. Other people my age are working on careers or having kids. I'm stuck living with my parents dealing with diabetes and kidney failure. I can't get my own place cause living alone is too expensive (even though I have a full time job and make more than minimum wage). I don't know what to do about it, and living the day-to-day grind just gets worse and worse, mostly thanks to my insane brother who continues to be a cancer to me and my parents.
Sorry, I didn't originally mean to turn this into an existential crisis, but I suppose that's how it goes sometimes. It just feels relieving to vent.

"why do people sell their oc's sonas?"
peoples oc's and sonas are often linked in part to their irl self, they can mimic personalities, appearance, likes and dislikes etc. All of these things change over time for most people, if you talk to someone chances are they are most likely not the same person they were 10, 5 even 1 year ago. For some people, they change to such an extent that their sonas just dont fit them anymore, they cant resonate with the characters as they are a product of the person they USED to be not who they are now.
In many cases, rather than have the character sit collecting dust and not being used, they would rather let someone else have them who can do something new with them and bring them to life again.
Personally i dont sell me characters as id rather 'update' them to fit me as i change, but for other people they prefer a complete fresh slate.
"why do people have multiple sonas?"
A wide variety of reasons
People are complex, their likes and dislikes and hobbies even more so. some people dont like the idea of cramming all of their ideas into one character, but rather letting all the different parts of themselves materialise into individual characters.
For other people who find themselves on the genderqueer/transgender spectrum having character of different genders can help them with dysphoria and experimenting with gender expression. I, for example, have 2 fursonas, one male and one female and it make me happy.
"people make new sonas so people can change their opinion of them"
well of course, as i said earlier, people change and letting go of the shitty person they used to be can be an important healing process for them
"FA is all ych's/artists charge alot/people pay too much money for things"
Artists and creatives work in a wide variety of ways, some take on set price commissions, some work via ych, some sell designs etc, it all depends on how they are comfortable working and what makes them happy. People have a right to do what makes them happy and charge what they like for their work, when compared with mainstream freelance artist fees most fandom artists are HUGELY underselling themselves for the quality or work they produce, not forgetting the fact that artists are real people with houses and families and bills to pay.
AM i saying i've never cringed at the price of something before? of course not, and i agree that 'some' prices ive seen in the fandom are absolutely wild and most likely cashing in on the fact that they are a "name" that people are willing the cash out on, but at the end of the day, they can do what they like and i just ignore them and focus on the artists i DO like.
The problem is, the way YOU enjoy the fandom is unique to you, not everyone is going to experience things the same way you do. You may feel attatched to YOUR fursona, but that isnt the case for everyone else. You wouldn't feel comfortable paying out a large sum of money for art, and thats perfectly fine, but other people would be happy to pay alot of money for art.
in conclusion, we all interact with the fandom in our own way, some more than others, some people are greedy and shitty, some people are the nicest you will ever meet, there are people from every walk of life having fun in the furry fandom and because of that people are all going to do things in their own way. Whats important is focusing on the parts of the fandom YOU like and focusing on that. Dont like expensive artists? dont work with them/follow them. Dont like people that constantly sell and remake their characters? dont follow them or just block them.
