At least the Narrator has acknowledged that Monsanto has dabbled in manipulation of their GMO product's but more studies are definitely needed and without the Money making Mongers nor the Fearful protesters getting their figures on the final results (if their could ever be one)

But I'm just gonna sit back and relax and wait and see

I do like her closing comment about how the poorest of the poor really need this technology and yet the politicians and vague fear from the people who can afford to eat are the ones stopping it.

Wasn’t the big problem with Monsanto’s stuff that it was a fucking ripoff?
Like, farmers legally couldn’t keep any for seed (as in, using it would literally loose them money every harvest after the first no matter how cheaply it was sold back to them)AND the “roundup ready” modification Was DOA- never had any effect?

So the RoundUp ready part of it did work, it was resistant to pesticides/herbicides, the problem currently is whether or not the active ingredient in RoundUp is a carcinogen, which is a Group 2A carcinogen which means it is possibly carcinogenic, but it is not proven, so there is a big 2 billion dollar civil law suit out saying that Monsanto has to pay this out to people who have been exposed to round up and developed a particular type of cancer, but the problem is even with all the studies, there is a lot of variables that were not controlled for unlike with asbestos which was truly linked to a particular type of cancer, but there is are more things that cause the cancer in the Monsanto case than just RoundUp.

It is big messy issue, I do not agree with the case, I think the "evidence" was very very cherry picked.

the info i read a year or so back indicated that at best the results were inconclusive regarding improved resistance- with my bloody luck i got one of the reports that was disproven by a followup >.<

The thing I think I find the most FRUSTRAITONG about GMO-hysteria is there has literally been more proveable harm done by analogue/older selective breeding techniques (there was a potato cultivar released for farming intended for making chips that was outright poisonous- was discovered after a rash of severe food poisoning reports),and the last attempt at modifying a grain to be more nutritionally complete I was aware of (golden rice) was essentially a failure due to a nation in the middle of a fucking famine rejecting shipments out of hysterical fear..

Well as the video outlined with Potato Blight from the fungus, it takes 10+ generations to get something even partially resistant, which is like decade plus of breeding, but yet we can take a very small snip from another organism that makes it completely resistant, would end the famine and the issue of the blight, reduce chemical use, etc. like it is proven to work and be safe before every reaching the public, and yet politicians refuse it because of "frankenplants"

i mean, with GR,werent the idiots who destroyed a test plantation were screeching about accusations being it a "corporate moneymaking tool designed to exploit farmers" or something, when the free licensing was specifically aimed at subsistence/small-end farmers- and it included permission to reuse seed unlike most ACTUAL commercial GMO crops- i legitimately NEVER got where the frenzy was coming from- you'd think it'd..
*sighs* i legitimately dont -understand- people sometimes, i swear- it seems like the more people you have in a group/movement the lower the collective IQ's over everyone involved drops...

i was doing a little reading on the train home this afternoon (started looking out of curiosity if it was actually possibly to BUY it for cooking out of curiosity,am in Australia,), and the first anti-GR page i saw simultaneously claimed its adoption had been prevented partly by the efforts of the groups that made it AND that it failed on its own merits- is it...doublethink or just....

Yeah, I don't know, it is more that media and people with a lot of charisma and weight are appealing to people's emotions, not intellect, so it is hard to say.
