Just hope he's still in good enough shape to run for the democratic ticket.
Some of his points are what America needs right now and what needs to change in America
Seems to me (kinda skimmed through that first article, and the third link's broken) that the wealth he has doesn't seem to change his thoughts or opinions. Wealth itself doesn't make one evil.
And, have another look at that fourth link. Further down the page, they point out that the story was complete bullshit.
The wealth itself isn't evil, it's how one accumulates it. Bernie wrote a book. That's all he seems to have done to accumulate his wealth.
Yet, he's just about the only candidate actually preaching any sorta wealth tax (besides Elizabeth Warren, but a recent gaffe of hers has caused me to severely cast doubt as to whether she'll actually follow through or not), any sorta affordable healthcare system, education system, climate change, etc. At this point, someone making big promises and having the most history of actually backing those promises is indeed the best bet.
And, he has backed these policies from the start of his career. He was advocating for the Civil Rights movement and against police brutality back when he first started into politics.
Ah, yes. It's just plain out hypocritical to vote on legislation for better healthcare, education, legal systems, etc. without personally going out and spending the entirety of your roughly $1million net worth to change the world (which we all know $1million can totally do) and personally stopping police brutality with your own two hands, or buying enough medicine to cure everyone, again with only $1million, because clearly if $1000 can only get one month of insulin for one person, that much can buy every medicine for everyone.
Seriously, what do you expect a politician to do? What's your ideal politician. Not picking from the pool of politicians already out there, what do you think would be the perfect president? What specifically would they do?
For once, I fucking agree with you. Problem is I cannot and will never be able to afford to leave the country because I'm getting paid so little and constantly inundated with bills for shit I can't just "go without". Hell, it's getting to the point I'm starting to fall behind on the bills as well. I am stuck, and never getting out. Every time I pay off one debt, another shows up. Sanders' policies are the only thing getting told today that even remotely sounds beneficial to me or anyone else like me. It's just fucked-up then that both the Democratic and Republican parties are so afraid of losing their billions upon trillions of dollars that they're doing everything they can to rig the election against Sanders. That there is how I know he's the one worth voting for. When both organizations of evil running this country view him as a threat, he is going to be the one to at least start the country turning in the right direction.
But, there are people with money. The upper 1%. Did you know that the top .1% richest people in the world have more money than the combined wealth of the other 99.9% of people? That's why we need wealth taxes. We need to return the estate tax. We need to return the top tax margins. And, we need to ensure these corporations are paying their fair share of taxes and not just throwing money offshore to save on taxes. We need to reduce military spending massively. We need to stop giving tax breaks to the rich. I guarantee that'll cause way more money to enter these programs to help everyone. And, we don't just need to increase the minimum wage. We need to scale the minimum wage to the average cost of living, that way prices can't just drive up to try and decry the increased minimum wage.
But, of course, absolutely none of this can happen until "political donations" stop being a part of the lawmaking process. So long as these corporations making more money than they can spend keep putting that money into enacting legislation to make themselves more money, nothing will ever change.
I really only make a habit of responding to people who disagree with me. X3 If I were to talk with people who agree with me on these things, the conversation would boil down to "Yes, I agree." "And, I agree as well."
Talking with people I disagree with has the potential to change my or their opinion. And, if not, at least it's entertaining to see the lengths people go to"discrdit" your evidence and such.
I have experience dealing with that crap, at least. X3 Grew up in a heavily Republican family, and my last workplace had Fox News playing all day. That said, I make a habit of researching and checking sources so that I can avoid disinformation like that.
Eh, I don't see it as an assault or anything. I believe that you genuinely believe the things you're saying, and I've personally seen how hard it is to change your own opinion and admit you've been wrong your whole life. So, I try my best to keep an open mind, though my mind won't be changed if I don't find the evidence presented convincing.
As for the title, that's just my sense of humor. I don't take anything seriously unless it's really, really serious. And, even then it's a 50/50 shot. That's just how I think. X3
Politics shouldn't be any reason for us not to be friends. *shrug* Seems we still both want the same thing, just have different ideas of how to achieve that.
And, I agree that doubt is very, very good. Saying that you shouldn't listen to someone because they'll make you change your mind is actually a fairly toxic idea. It's why I left Catholicism.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernie_Sanders This here is indeed the most factual, fully-cited source of his entire political history that you're gonna get.

And, best of luck in moving! If the country is still terrible by the time I can afford it, I hope to move to Germany one day.
