                        Site UI Update
Happy new year eve! We figured we'd start 2020 off right by introducing Fur Affinity’s brand new site design. The beta site design has been in development for some time and has gone through various iterations and changes in development. We’ve listened to your suggestions and incorporated vast amounts of user feedback into the final release. Additionally, we’ll be rolling out new features and making incremental improvements to the design over time.
Designed with mobile, tablet, and desktop devices in mind, the new UI allows for a much smoother and modern site experience regardless of your device.
The site update contains three new themes:
- Dark (Crisp platforms of cool gray on top of an icy black background).
- Light (For fans of lighter displays, this lighter theme is eye-pleasing and subtle -- no robin's egg blue this time, we promise!)
- Slate (The colors of the Beta UI you’ve grown to love with new blue text headers to match our new logo featuring Fender).
- Aurora (A fresh interface reflecting the splendor of the aurora borealis passing through).
- Retro (The tried and true colors of FA’s Classic Dark UI have been sampled for a nostalgic feel of familiarity across our new layout).
Not a fan of the new UI? No worries, you can swap back to the Classic UI at any time by visiting Account Settings. Please note that the Classic UI is being retired, will no longer receive updates, fixes, or improvements.
Issues with the new UI? Please report them via Trouble Ticket under "User Interface".
New Coding Staff
We’ve brought on additional staff to rewrite and modernize Fur Affinity. They are currently working on laying down the groundwork, and we will provide a roadmap once they’ve had time to get acclimated.Fur Affinity Plus (FA+)
Ever wanted to help contribute to Fur Affinity? Now you can! FA+ offers you the chance to directly support the site and get a few perks in the process. Why FA+? A website of Fur Affinity’s size needs resources (such as web developers, servers, bandwidth, and licensing costs). Those can cost quite a bit of money. While FA is owned by IMVU, we’re still run as a small independent site and need additional funding to secure long term improvements.
We decided to take a straightforward approach - help us and snag a few bonuses! We don’t want to straddle the site with more ads than necessary, and other monetization methods tend to be annoying, frustrating, or offer less than ideal experiences. That’s not something we want. Instead, we’d like to extend the opportunity for perks to those who enjoy using the site and want to support it directly.
What it is: FA+ members get a spiffy icon which appears next to their name to show their support. In addition, FA+ members can opt-out of third party advertising.
FA+ is for people who want to support Fur Affinity. Money raised via FA+ will go towards helping offset coding and development costs and to help us acquire new, better and more powerful servers. We will not be limiting current site features for users who do not choose to subscribe.
The cost? Just $5 a month. You can help support the site directly through PayPal through a subscription to FA+, and you can cancel at any time at www.furaffinity.net/plus or by following the menu link under your username!
Issues or concerns with FA+? Feel free to open a ticket under the "FA+" category.
New Logo
We’ve updated our logo with a new design by
Sciggles, featuring everyone’s favorite ferrox, our website mascot Fender!
 FA+

So is FA+ meant to be sort of like the CORE Membership on DeviantArt?
Although it does not seem if its anything other then no adds for the time, but it might change
As a side note
I said the same thing, but it looks like we typed it out at the same time because this just got posted, not that this means anything
This will change nothing and the update to anything significant will probably take years once again

My Rhetoric:
IMVU isn't plastering their ads everywhere and I have been happy with things so far. I was worried that it would be a financial drain big enough that they'd look at monetizing it with more ads or other things we don't want. FA+ is actually really good news because it gives the site an income stream that isn't from ads.
I'm wondering if there's a way to subscribe to FA+ and still get ads. Seeing ads helps me know what ads people are seeing and plan out my own ads. I suppose I could set up a monthly $5 contribution through other means...
Why support it now when they had the means before, sat on them, done nothing with them, give small updates once in a blue moon like Valve actually making a game, and still continue to have security flaws due to old website code that's clearly outdated? The shinies system also had a lot of security flaws the moment it was introduced, why are you hoping that it's still fine to contribute when the chances of a risk to your personal information is still so high on account of the numerous blunders this site usually sweeps under the rug.
What I don't understand is why so many are content to really brush aside these problems on this platform in particular and say it's okay.
The main card people play is that "All of my supporters are on FA." I don't feel that's really a good excuse, while yes I do agree that people really hate the idea of starting from scratch on a new place, but if those supporters cared enough, they'd really have no issue moving along with the content creators they do support. Content creators want a site that has more ease of use and features that will help than to hurt them. This fandom has had issues right from it's upbringing through many odds being the burned furs trying to purify the fandom only because they wanted to keep the content strictly heterosexual when more homoerotic works were shared, moderators having histories of manipulation, sexual predators, child groomers, etc.
That's not to say those others that made their sites are the only ones guilty of this because the same can be said about a lot about FA staff that still work here are also just as guilty as other site owners among Inkbunny, Weasyl, and Furrynetwork. Every one is either too lazy to drop it despite the history of FA being a garbage fire for more than 10 years yet are not okay with the other sites because they hold the same owners to the standards the FA staff clearly walked over? Yeah, I'd say it's okay to call it home if your alright with being consistent on keeping a double standard.
I can say for myself that given I already have to have a book to keep track of my accounts for all kinds of sights that adding more to them would be annoying as heck even if I wanted to support them, especially if say they don't all migrate to the same place.
And it's not helped when say some content creators really have no desire to move elsewhere either. I mean, I may have only just started writing stuff and putting it up on FA in the last year, but unless something came out that all of my friends and the folks who've enjoyed the stuff I've written all decided to shift over to the new thing, I'd probably myself choose to remain here.
While lots of folks run multiple accounts on various websites in tandem, FA remains *the* place to get work.
I'm lucky that I can afford to go without art income, yet FA still remains my biggest commission source despite working hard to establish other accounts. Other people aren't afforded that luxury.
No one is forcing anyone to pay for FA+ and we arent losing any features. People are complaining like they're losing something when they're not. More features would be nice but then people would just complain about having to pay for them. I was never interested caulse of how rough the site was and alot of people are pleased.
So, if you people want to see FA get better and improve. Get FA+ plus so they can get more resources. You can either have more updates or you can be outdated due to lack of resources, you can't get both. That's just reality.
I'm not one for chatroom games, but damn. I really hear IMVU is... pretty meh, to say the least.
And yet they Still ask for more? Granted it costs money too run such a large operation, bu I can't imagine it's costing That much!
Imvu is a 3d chat site
Am I missing something?
I would love to help fund it but, theres no underlying encouragement to do so.
What if once you payed for FA+ you could post pics in your pfp/journals?? just a suggestion ;o;
Thanks for all the hard work so far though, it's appreciated!
*And I like the new layout colors and sections!
"its a True gentleman act" but seems he blocked me, i dunno who he is,
also anyways if you see this, Disable ad block for see nice banners its a honorable act :3
I really want a name change and if I had to pay to get it I would.
I also think it'd be a good idea if you guys flushed out all the usernames that have been inactive for 5+ years (especially blank accounts) so people can get names that are taken but were never used.
hell yes
Having a name change option would also be really helpful as moving your whole account to a different username is so difficult.
It took me days to move over from my previous one and people still somehow watch me on there and haven't watched me on my new one so ive lost nearly 1000 people...
Another good idea would be a thing where you can set your account as unwatchable if you switch accounts so if people try to watch it it will let them know you have actually moved and to watch that account instead.
I look forward to seeing how it turns out and am keeping positive. Can't judge it too early on and with FA seeming to go based from feedback is believable. They have a Discord team vibe about them, rather than the very unsavory DeviantArt that is not quite comparable (and that's a good thing lol).
Give em a chance and lets see if we can have new nice things, while this site gets the support it needs in order to function better and deserves.
Here is some of what I would like to see in the future with updates and understandable required support. We can't compare apples to oranges and FA has not demonstrated the neglect like DeviantArt has and they are an example of what not to be just based on the opinions here.
1) Being able to correspond with the note system pertaining to a single subject remaining in a single thread / subject note instead of fracturing from every response. My notes are ridiculously inflated from communicating one same subject and makes it a cluster mess.
2) Journal art. I know these seem to be reserved for the @ accounts for FA staff, site admins and moderators but would be awesome to have and make journals more exciting. ^^
3) Expanded file limit size. 10mb is just not enough with how massive some of the biggest and high quality art and animations can be and really don't want to loose submission quality from resizing.
4) Not needing to update the submission file with the same file in order show the full resolution in quality.
5) I believe that accounts that have not logged in just once out of 5+ years should be deactivated and deleted entirely, except for memorial accounts and the like.
6) I really wouldn't mind seeing who viewed my profile and submissions just a small curious thing I think would be cool.
7) I can understand why name changes aren't allowed and since that is tied into your alias and who you are for people to identify you as. Completely understandable if you are a big artist undertaking commissions. Changing your FA identity on the fly can be problematic. You are who are to your watchers and commissioners and changing that willy nilly like when ever, how ever seems like it would be hard to keep you accountable or just remember who you are (just make a new account and post a journal about it) What if someone uses your old name? See how there might be confusion and problems with that and someone claims to be what name you had for like 5 years.
8) Policy for spamming constant ych reminders and constant cookie cut out bases that is essentially the same art, over and over again, that is the majority of browsing FA submissions. Browsing works on FA use to be unique, fun and exciting. Now it is just stagnate.
Overall I think FA has done pretty well all things considered managing the site. There is just always going to be those certain ppl who think everyone's out to get them. As long as the TOS and way things are kept fair and impartial and rooting out the bad. The dynamic and sites eco system with what might seem like a slight simple change might be impactful. Let the people with the expertise do their thing. Afterall, they are the ones running a moderately large site with a large community for awhile now that all of you have little to no experience in at all.
I can't complain too much because there really isn't anything quite like FA and that is something to appreciate and acknowledge and can't wait to see what the future holds with positivity. Just like an artist, how can you improve if you don't try new things? These are just my opinions just like you are entitled to yours. :)
Happy New years everyone :3 <3
dA has been doing it for 15 years and there haven't been major issues. They use a system where it keeps a notice on the user profile that says something like "formerly known as ___________" for a month or so. I also think it's LESS confusing and more culpable than someone up and changing their entire account because it'd still be tied to the same user data, same uploads, etc. It's not like scammers don't already just create new accounts and leave their previous ones to continue scamming under a new name. People who do that are going to do that regardless of if it's in a system that allows name changes or if it's just creating new accounts, but at least in a system with name changes then they can be tracked under one account.
It's also not feasible to expect artists to start over on a whole new account. Even if you spam journals about moving or post reminder submissions, there's a large amount of people who flat out nuke journals or ignore notices. I don't want to have to start over when I have an established account with 10k+ watchers.
I also already have massive issues being confused for another artist which is why I want to change my username, but I absolutely do NOT want to start over from scratch.
Edit: Also I wanted to add that I like your other suggestions, particularly regarding submission upload issues.
I kind of like that the name signifies you, especially considering at that point you are considered a business regardless of how small and that such a system that would allow name changing wouldn't be abused and perhaps a name change allowed once a year max.
I also think limited name changes is a good idea, once a year or once every six months. Not many people would abuse constant name changes or really want more than one.
P.s. Im not saying you are an alcoholic but its been made iconic xD Your art is so distinguishable to where they can just look at it and know who it is.
Ahhh thank you! Unfortunately there's someone else with the same name which is why I've been wanting to change mine for like two years now to stop the confusion because I know it pisses him off quite a bit. ;; I'm really hoping that I can have the option sooner rather than later.
one free username change then pay for all the others seems like a good plan
Though I moved on to my new gallery a long time ago I lost access to my old one due to forgetting my password, and then some mishap with the site happened to where I couldn't reset it anymore.
So again even though the layout is nice, there are a lot of other things FA could have been doing to improve what was already there.
Yeah, I basically agree with this, though this is mostly because this name is so outdated that it hurts.
Though deleting accounts isn't something that really should be done. I've got friends who have died and suddenly seeing their profiles get deleted would be rather painful as it's one of the last little existences of when they were alive. There's a lot of complications when it comes to deleting profiles especially if they've posted art.
Now deleting profiles that were permanently banned or have literally nothing on them as if they were made as a one time use and then forgotten about... THOSE should likely just get deleted. Though even then, there would be complications if the banned artist just pops up again with the same name.. So it's just a confusing situation.
Plus, do you delete their art as well? I'd hope not.
Deceased accounts actually get notifications disabled, so there is less server strain. No reason exists to delete an account not adding more space, that has art or memories people enjoy. Otherwise it's like erasing history, that the person doesn't matter if they're not active anymore.
I do think a good compromise would be inactive but not-deceased accounts that have had art or activity before, stop getting notifications after a while (especially art and journal ones, as notes and comments may be something they'd want to see if they return).
And people can save art. Like people can't have a hoarder mentality about everything. Fa should do what subeta does and if an account has been inactive for a few years, there is a count down at the top of the page for when it's going to go inactive. Once the timer is up, people are free to take that user's name and they are given a similar one to replace it. (if their name was dragon, it would change it to dragon 1). Then a year after that, the account is removed.
Since the art does still take up space, that would give ample time for people to save all the art and back it up on the way back machine.
I don't know what subeta is, and I'm glad I'm not on there. Nor do I know what a wayback machine is. Hard drives, servers, memory, all are getting larger for less money per gb, so it doesn't need to be deleted. But essentially you're saying people and art have no value without that memorialized tag. Gotcha. I'm done here.
Edited for typo.
FA also does do deceased tags for people who've passed away and protects those accounts.
They could be deleting an account of someone deceased but difficult to prove it.
But who cares about that? Someone else wants that precious username that seems abandoned. So what if there's art? Probably didn't mean anything to them.
(Not specifically directing that at you. But that seems to be what this thread is becoming about.)
Also, when doing an account deletion, they should be able to check "if" there's notes, maybe how recently (just not see them). I believe somewhere in this journal quoting_mungo stated that was a private concern as to why account claiming stopped. Being able to confirm "no notes" only would make that feasible again.
People just generally don't want admins having note access except for harassment tickets. I believe they're even stored separately from the art part of the site.
The privacy concerns got more attention what with that European privacy compliance law. So...not sure if or how they'd be able to do that and still comply. That's really a question for someone on staff, as I can only speculate.
The nametag thing is nice, but perhaps you can think of something a bit more substantial?
Trust me, people want name change much more than badges.
Or the usable features that got added to Discord, but are nonexistent for free users?
THOSE kinds of "upgrades"? Ones that are locked to paying users only?
Please, dear passwords.txt, explain to me how your word is any better or more trustworthy than that of Discord CEO Jason Citron.
I'm fully happy paying for extra privileges and perks to help a service run better. These things aren't free to run, servers cost money.
For the server owner though, it basically makes them have to fight for their users' money.
If your server's nitro "tier" drops too low because one user decided they didn't want nitro anymore or were leaving Discord, you lose alllll the stuff you had as perks.
Now imagine if FA+ followers get a SuperLike, similar to a ServerBoost.
And now if you want inline images in your journals, all you need is 50 SuperLikes! But oops, someone SuperLiking you cancelled FA+, and now all the inline images in previous journals get deleted. Whoops, guess you should have done a better job of keeping your Pokemon, I mean users, in their balls, I mean paying their bills!
If it's "Like Discord Nitro", expect this kind of thing to start happening, since that is currently the **only** major use of Nitro, since the store no longer exists.
If that never happens, then I'll be okay with it...
But this is a business plan by the same guy who brought us an unencrypted passwords.txt and also kept our notes stored unencrypted and easily accessed so that people had their private info spread all over the web.
Then sold the porn site to a company whose primary demographic is underage children.
This isn't a 10 year history that inspires any confidence in the "purity" of FA+.
I don't think ANY art site would ever implement a "super like" thing. dA has had a premium service for like 15 years and has never implemented anything like that and it is millions of users larger than FA. People just want things like what dA offers, like custom journal skins and name changes (though being able to have custom emotes would be a really neat bonus on FA).
If this were being implemented by someone without a history so shady that even Batman thinks it's a bit much, I'd be less concerned.
You know what they say?
"But everyone's already on FA! I'll go when those other sites have more population. It's too hard to have logons on multiple sites!"
It's almost like that free market bullshit you're about to start babbling is in fact bullshit and that basic psychology shows that people prefer the familiar.
If people acted at all logically, abusive relationships wouldn't exist in the personal world, much less abusive corporations in the corporate world, and yet here we are- on the artsite with the fewest features, with the least compatibility with other sites, without a decent API, and somehow, despite being technologically inferior to all alternatives, still the highest population.
Because everyone's already here, and no one's going anywhere, and you know exactly why, even if you're about to post some long-winded mess of bs about some fantasyland where all people make rational decisions.
The main reason FA still serves as the biggest site is because artists stay or come back, because people find the place to be like home to them, because it is familiar.
And of course because when other sites slump or die, FA is always here.
The other sites also often have weird policies that are difficult to follow (Weasyl) or weird UI that's unappealing (FurryNetwork), or allow content a lot of people don't want to associate with at all (Inkbunny). Until there's a site that can both supply everything that makes FA the preference and runs better with a better UI, people will keep using FA.
I use Twitter myself as my secondary stomping grounds.
Honestly I care little about what the owner did before, since it's not like he bombards me with requests for money... I have been here close to 13 years now and never had any problems other than the site sometimes being down, but that happens to half the fan-managed message boards I visit too.
I abandoned VLC for FA because it had a better tagging, upload, comment system (as in, VLC had NONE). In the meantime, not many sites managed to be better at this than FA - only DA comes close (which I also use). I have tried out SoFurry, Inkbunny and the like, but frankly, not seeing much of a reason why I should have a presence there when all the people I watch and who watch me are here.
Rumors aside, no. Deviantart is owned by a company hellbent on destroying the very image it has for itself by forcing a new look that actually causes people headaches, removing features that have existed for years and ignoring the feedback of thousands upon thousands of users just to become a generic art marketplace ArtStation clone.
Lmfao get your problems in check dude :'''''''D
It's no secret that a lot of people here are looking for alternatives to FurAffinity, the clock is ticking dude. The community here is becoming more and more toxic by the day, you appear to have less and less perspective on it each time an update gets posted, and the website looks like it's beginning to level out with new users and people leaving. It's only a matter of time before one of those new websites, like Furiffic, that comes stock-loaded with content and tag blacklists sinks its roots in and people start migrating away. This place used to be transparent, it used to be nice, and it used to be a community. It's turning into Final Fantasy House, dude.
That's essentially free advertising where we're getting spammed with the same crap a few times a day. Just like Patreon paywalls I think turnabout is fair play and start requiring this FA+ if they want to spam ads at us. Should help reduce the clutter of our inboxes.
I've even had to unwatch people that post a lot of them or repeatedly delete and repost the same ad almost daily :/
Then again, despite this being FURaffinity, we also have tons of human porn artists who migrated here, most of whom do not have even a single furry art in their gallery. That too I find odd that it is being tolerated, despite how we furries are considered lowest of the low otherwise by the same regular porn art people...
And once a day, max, should be enough for reminders.
If I post a YCH or auction, I get X initial views on it and... that's it. There is no any way to get more people to see it. I can post journals about it, but that will have literally no impact. I could try advertising offsite eg. Twitter and such, but very few people will bother to actually come to FA and log in to look at it, bid or comment. So I totally understand why people reminder spam, even though I don't agree with it and not doing it.
But understand that as artists our issue is that we are trying to sell on a platform that has absolutely zero tools to help us with it and is extremely inadequate for such things but we have not much choice because here is where all the people are.
The real solution would be to have an entirely new category for announcement/ad/reminder/stream posts, combined with the ability to select what kind of notifications we want to get (notes, journals, ads, streams etc.) both as a global default and as a per-watched-user override.
Sadly it got banned shortly after starting up. It only lasted about 5 months if I remember correctly.
I'll try and see if i can find it and link it to you if i'm able, but am busy with another task atm.
To the best of my memory, it was free, and I don't remember if they even accepted donations/tips for it either. But it was a really well built thing that a good few artist i watched at the time just loved to no end. It honestly both saddened and sickened me to see it get banned. When it was online, i saw a dip in reminder spam (which was ALOT less than what it is today), and after the ban, it spiked.
Essentially it has the same effect on the servers as a DoS attack. That's why any service that uses scraping will be banned from accessing FA, and rightfully so.
Thank you for explaining and linking to the telegram thing.
If memory serves, it was set up differently and didn't cause any burden to the servers. Then again, its been like 5 or 6 years since it got banned, so my memory might be a bit off.

They used a cloud, and got requests from the artist instead of their app going and hunting for the listings
Since 2020 is last year of supporting flash I think it is really needed to bring in any alternatives ;_;
ps. Happy new year!
For it to work they'd really need to reach out to current Flash content developers to figure out the best format for this to work. Unlike Flash, HTML5 doesn't get compiled down to a single file and with no indication of entry point, you'd want to standardise a js or html file, and upload likely as a ZIP file.
The best position for FA, legally-speaking, is to just do like Weasyl and allow YouTube (or another hosting platform like Vimeo) embeds as a type of submission.
Doesn't mean the article itself isn't utterly daft, but it's not quite as doom and gloom as you're making it out to be.
Plus, I did like the old design more. Not just because I have issues with change, but because it was a good design, for all it's worth.
I don't mean to come off as a jerk, it's just this came out of nowhere like a slap to the face when I had something I wanted to do, and now I might have to go through a whole thing to do it.
Despite my reluctance to all this , congrats on yours all the other folks workings.
also, maybe it's just me, but i switched to the old UI and things look weird. Like the font looks smaller and everything else is bigger thna normal. Like it was not properly scaled. I'llw ait though, since maybe i'm just having it clash with the new one and my brain is still tryong to get used to both XD
So yeah, i'll eb sticking to the old one. But on mobile, the new one looks quite good
I appreciate the work you do, I really do. I also apologize for the comment spam, but this thing keeps crashing tabs now for my mobile device...my only internet. I can't afford new or a computer plus internet service. The old UI used less resources. I need every kb. It only ever crashed on huuuuge art. Now it crashed just trying reply to you...
I cannot, absolutely cannot find a way to revert back to classic. Despite someone saying how...it's not there for mobile, or not mine. This is a similar issue I have with DA...I can't reply, the button doesn't exist there for me.
I'd appreciate if you'd check for this setting on mobile devices, especially an older one, and put it in if it's missing. I have went to everything under the "stack of pancakes" menu...it isn't there. I went to my profile page and looked top right as someone in a comment on here said...it isn't showing anything there.
I appreciate the work you put into the site, keeping it going, fixing bugs, etc. But I really, really need the classic UI back for me.
Thanks for any help. I apologize for sounding frustrated in other comments. I wasn't even sure I could scroll long enough to find any help before another tab crash. Hopefully if you reply I can find it before another tab crash... (Galaxy S4)

It's about midway down the page.
Also, from my (brief) use of that UI, notifications didn't change color once viewed. They stayed white. (Classic shows them as purple.)
In using classic again, I can say there is definitely less lag for an older device like mine. There's something in the new one using more resources I just don't have available under the hood. Since some new midrange (or lower) devices have similar specs for RAM as my six model year back (nearly seven) flagship, please keep classic available, updated or not, for use under certain specs. Some just can't afford higher end mobile devices.
That said, I do know you've always aimed to keep FA accessible for everyone, regardless of what device they could afford. I remember you tested the last Classic update back to a Windows 1st. gen phone. I do know you try to accommodate every user possible in that way, and do thank you for that. Not everyone is still using a dinosaur of a phone like me. XD
Also, thank you for being approachable. I do appreciate it, as I'm sure others do as well. :)
I know you guys said you weren't making anymore changes to it but it just makes looking at the counter just pointless and then you have to manually check it yourself.
Oh, and maybe move the layout options to Global Site Settings. (Do we need a password just to change the UI settings? :p)
Oh, how about fixing the issue that replying to someone shows their icon beside your name rather than your own.
One thing I noticed is the styling of headlines, which doesn't appear to be fully adjusted yet (with headline 1 being almost the same as headline 2 and headlines 3 to 5 being identical). The classic template has a much better distinction.
I made a screenshot for comparison.
I use the different headline styles a lot and in the modern template they look off. This could be a disadvantage for people who use them to customize their profiles, writing etc.
Will this be adapted later?
Also, perhaps a proper platform for feature requests, like an issue tracker? Because currently the only way I know of is to reply to you on journals like I'm doing now and hope that you actually see it and read it. Not very efficient.
It's a very basic feature on every site, but here it doesn't work. Doesn't hide your page from stalkers, doesn't remove a watchbot hacker, nothing.
I will admit though, I was confused while I was browsing, clicked another page, and things had magically changed. The news post wasn't even up yet. hehehe

Those seem to be the only buttons.
It was confusing because it shows 6 images now, took me a while to realize the previous/next are in the middle row.
Happy new year~ It's really nice to see big changes happening though
right?
you could gain more if you allowed the + members to change their username or simple things like giving away the (i think) admin only feature of putting images in journals, and at least i don't see that as pay walling core features
... although i know i will now probably get tons of people disagreeing with me below this
Its pretty much like skins in 2012 deviantart. They werent needed, but they were pretty and people often wanted a subscription only to have one.
I noticed a little accessibility concern about the font (as it can have some comprehension difficulty as it's very round and a number of letters look similar) - is it possible to choose different fonts (or at least a selection of fonts available to the users?)

font-family: 'Bahnschrift' !important;
}
Replace Bahnschrift with the font you wanna use and apply it to URLs that begin with "https://www.furaffinity.net/". Save and voila.
The dragons are coming to take you for a ride And a happy new year as well!
WOW Amazing Also Happy New Year EveryoneEDIT: This should be fixed now.
Also, when replying to someone my name seems to be picking up the information of the person I'm replying to?

Pretty sure I'm not fa staff, though I still want to be. winkwink ;D lol

If you don't notice the change you may need to hard refresh the page, usually CTRL+F5 on most browsers on PC.
I liked the old beta better :(
Happily supportive of the FA+ feature as well, makes sense to me and it's a bonus that you won't limit what people can do.
I just hope it means that we will see even more frequent and nice updates with additional funding!
you need a hypno box-o
take notes FA 👀
HOWEVER maybe 'likes' for comments from JUST the artist on their submission would be cool. 👀
But it is sounds like these are quite some updates. (Still hope that name changing does become reality around 2020 too!)
Forgot to mention that you're literally charging people to be able to change the built-in paypal link on their artist page, didn't ya?
You're seriously charging people money to allow themselves to decide how much they get paid.
I'm sure other "unimportant" features like that will also be paywalled, right?
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/28964534/
I do like the new layout tho, forgot to mention that!
Best to reverse the changes and retrace what went wrong before FA tears itself apart.
It doesn't matter Dragoneer, you aren't liked that well, I seen all those journals regarding you, from the mid 2010s, users weren't happy at how you treated FA. Maybe this is getting a bit old, because change is something that shouldn't be touched, the past defines the future, and you say you'll retire the Classic FA? Fat chance, nobody wants it gone, like with MS Paint, the past is permanently written in history and cannot be removed.
I get that change can be scary and complex and sometimes it'd just be easier if everything were always the same and always simple - but change is part of life and part of humanity's constant push to progress and better things. You can still use the classic UI - but for a long time many people have been asking for a change and a moving forward with things.
The world doesn't revolve around you. Your input is valid, but your attitude is not.
And we don't just "feel that way". Many users are complaining that things are falling apart. A lot of us are just simply being ignored, and its obvious.
I'm getting a 500 error when trying to hit subscribe. lol.
The rest of the changes I can probably get used to (after being grumpy about it for a while). But I need that baby blue. :P
I suspect these changes are gonna mess with the current option: https://github.com/boothale/faexport
I keep wondering if you folks would like a hand implementing such a thing, but I guess you'll already be stocked with folks now?
So, a summary of datetimes, as it seems they're all messed up now in a way they were not before.
On submission page:
Jan 1, 2020 00:26 AM
On profile page:

On notifications page:

I don't really know how this has managed to go wrong in the latest update, to be perfectly honest
Happy new year!
But yeah, got the API working again, I think!
I would absolutely love to help out developing an official one for FA sometime, if that were ever an option?
Just to let you guys know, I am getting an error when trying to subscribe to FA+.
As soon as that's back up and working, I'd be more than happy to support <3
I actually really like the new style. And you're keeping Classic for those who don't like the new site. Pretty cool.
Happy new year!
People who don't use it aren't losing anything, and you gain a few nice perks if you sub to it.
http://puu.sh/EV6LU/4fe009e8cf.png
FA is owned by IMVU. though is still run as it's own thing and does get some funding BUT it's limited
This site has the backing of a large company. Sure, some of the user money might go to paying a coder or whatever, but I don't believe amounts of it will not go straight back to IMVU.
Doing what you just did is what many places want, blind faith, so they don't have to worry about there critics and can keep on doing what they were doing.
Go to your profile page.
Click edit profile in the upper right hand corner.
Click on Account settings.

and there you go!
Now I get the added thrill of having to squint, zoom in, and/or turn my brightness up if I want to tell what that 17 means. Are they comments? Watches? Who knows, not me!
Many people have been wanting them, and I wouldn't even mind paying for it at this point just so I can have a real one that wasn't made on the spot, without losing all my stuff.
They might be able to implement something though, and if they keep going the way they are I'm sure they'll figure something out eventually.
Just wanted to let yah know!
yet you participate in it
i am very intelligent
Would it be possible for us to chose our own font in the site settings?
Or just at least makes it the same as in journal entries/comments?
I'm already having a headache looking at profiles, it's all merging together X_X
I'll get used to it with time. But gosh having the bold next to the numbers at the top is killing me. Just bold the whole thing or not D: D: D:
I like FA for it being lightweight on this aspect.
And we'll see about how new policies affect people here.
Due to recent policy changes around many platforms, like youtube and other sites - new policies are getting there much more strict and give less creative freedom.
also, is it a problem showing 1000 as 1000? not as 1k? I like when it's 1000.
It is a nice idea though, would be nice to have a perk to change your name or something later down the line. will be fun to see where it goes!
If you do not want to have a certain person pop up on your travels through the depths of FA because they post content that makes you highly uncomfortable, you should be able to block them entirely. This here isn't RL, this here is the internet. If we can avoid someone, we should be able to. And that's what blocking is for - just not on FA it seems.
You can hate his/her art, but what if he/she is a person who's nice to chat with?
In other words, I want FA to avoid becoming an echo chamber like twitter became.
Do you really expect me to put 10+ minus-tags in the search-bar each time I want to look for new artists on here? And I'm meaning it; if you're very vanilla when it comes to fetishes, FA's browse page is a pretty hard pill to swallow if you just want to see something new. Scat, ws, vore, hyper, unbrithing, fat, diaper, taurs, rape, mpreg, zoo, farting, popping, ... so much stuff that should be permantently filterable ONE TIME instead of every. sinlge. time. anew. Maybe you are into half of that and don't care, but many many others aren't and shouldn't have to look at it.
Plus a filter system would also help to get the whole YCH and reminder spam under control.
On another note I honestly do not want to chat with someone who draws rape and thinks that's fine.. Block well warranted in my books.
Or else it turns platform into echo chamber like twitter.
Flash support needs to be replaced with video very soon and I'd hate if it's locked out behind a paywall.
FA+ just adds some nice little perks should you choose to want them :3
I'd highly doubt they'd remove a feature like Flash and only let paying people get the new stuff.
I figured it was only a matter of time before FA rolled out it's own version of DA's Core program.
New logo? Where? The logo is still the same for me.
It's still the same logo we have had for years now.
I even restarted my browser.
What does that have to do with it?
I was meaning the header image. I even thought maybe it was just the logo of the site itself but it is all the same as it's been for years.
I'm back in Classic too. I had actually forgotten that the Beta site was even a thing or was even still running.
Surprised it has lasted this long to be honest.
Hopefully one of the admins will get back with me and we can figure out what's wrong.
And I hope this works out!
I'm liking where you guys are heading so keep it up!
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to jump on the "lets just hate for the sake of hating" and constant spewing of "there is no hope" train but I assure you making blacklists/filters isn't as easy to implement as you think it is.
It likely requires a SQL overhaul (or at least a decent edit) due to the way the old database was implemented. It also requires a system close to what e621 has where users are the ones that set those tags. (Artists would likely avoid doing it so they would get more traffic)
So you have to overhaul a database or more likely convert it to a newer format/set of tables, implement a punishment feature if someone misuses tags, the ability for users to do it in the first place, force artists to use tags on their work and so much more.
I want tags/filtering as much as most of the people on this site but I also somewhat understand why it's on the back-burner. Give the fuckers a chance, they'll get to it eventually.
I suppose if everybody had the ability to go through and tag any submission properly it might work out eventually though. It would also be yet another thing for the evidently already overtaxed mods to police.
Maybe someday. A lot of folks would love to see it.
Big downgrade 👌
So that's where things like FA+ would come in hand. It helps us close that gap, and as we get new hardware, we can use it to power more intensive features and turn that into benefits for users.
Same as they did last time FA backstabbed the userbase.
And the time before that.
Remember when all that server funding went straight to IMVU's coffers? WHOOPS BET PEOPLE WOULD HAVE BEEN A BIT PEEVED IF THEY'D KNOWN ALL THEIR MONEY WAS ABOUT TO BE STOLEN, good thing that won't ever happen again, right?
Have you also considered leasing your hardware instead of purchasing it?
Also, one pet peeve about the new layout: There isn't a "#parent #link" widget for everyone else's comments like there is for mine. Was that an intentional thing, or was it mere oversight?
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/ENK5yrW.....amp;name=large
They also don't highlight when you mouse over them, like the classic UI does. The highlighting is a good UX touch.
Another thing I sorely miss from the old UI is the image preview you get from mousing over a submission or favorite on someone's front page.
And the ease of telling whether the images were forward or backwards in your gallery on the next 3 images and the previous 3 images on a submission.
Also i've been having issues uploading things and idk if its because the site updates or not should i send in a TT?
Wow. This looks really bad.
And requires way more JS/CSS garbage to function.
I hate it.
If you don't like it you're not pressured into using it in any way. It's completely optional.
FA is just not worth giving money to if there's only bare minimum of site functionality.
Keep the dream alive buddy :'D
Whatever dude
Now it just a copy of the DevianART-layout with the identical randomizer "See more from *this artist*"-section.
Btw Happy New Year everyone! <3 :3
I noticed with chrome extensions I use for this, they can't filter through tags because it can only read the description and title from the search page. If the tags could just be read from there too....🤔
Also, when you do get there, if the blocklist of tags can also be accessed from both search and user settings, that'd be great for people who suddenly need to filter on the fly.
I'm at the [very least] glad you're even considering it.
Is Yak on it? 8^)
Happy New year!
At this time of year?
At this time of day?
In this part of the internet?
LOCALIZED ENTIRELY WITHIN FURAFFINITY?!
...May I see it?
and holy heck does Auroura hurt my head with the gradient in the middle.
Happy new year by the way!
Looking at it from my computer: all of the above thoughts still stand.
Tried the two themes I have access to and the blue on the profile in the modern dark theme is...gross. I like the other colors, but that blue is not good. Also the font on the profile being Times New Roman makes it look heavily dated. Don't know if that's something someone forgot to fix in the CSS, but that's something that ought not to be.
The new update overall looks heavily dated in general, to be honest. Being as gentle as I can, this layout is the "graphic design is my passion" meme, just replacing graphic design with web dev.
If you can provide a roadmap for planned updates and upcoming features it might be reasonable.
Some Questions though :
1.) Was patreon not an option or if it was disqualified, why?
2.) Theres a very real feeling that FA+ members will receive preferential treatment, how do you plan on addressing this worry?
3.) What, other than an icon, do supporters receive back?
and lastly
4.) For what amounts to 60$ a year, how do you plan on mitigating inevitable comparisons to Fallout-1st; When, as ill advised and poorly handled as it is, at least offered something in return?
yeetdab <o/ Im outie
2) Admins and moderators are instructed to treat users equally. While we appreciate the support, we're not going to give preferential treatment FA+ users because it sets an incredibly bad precedent. Rules need to come first.
3) and 4) The perks from FA+ can be found on the FA+ page. Among those perks is the option to disable third party (Google) ads. We feel that's a pretty fair trade for $5 a month. Anyone can run an ad blocker, yes, but some people may still want to support the site. This gives them that option.
I like to download pics I enjoy en masse using a tool and that just doesn't work now.
Discord does that too for some reason. I wonder why?
The old way allowed Firefox to pre-select the last folder used to download from FurAffinity as oppsed to everything being downloaded to the Downloads folder now.
I mean if I got 1023 new comments for example I could see it right away if I got 1045 comments when I check back. now I just see 1K and I have to mouse over and remember what the number was before when I am browsing and going between FA pages.
Maybe?
Please?
other than that seems interesting enough! i think once i get used to it ill like it. happy to see things starting to move forward, hope FA+ works out well for you guys, despite the vocal feedback i think theres more people would would be interested than not
Also, although I liked the old logo, I am really glad to see a Logo that folks will be able to recognize saying FA more clearly.
Yo I love the Aurora Layout
Thanks staff!
Also it startled me! BAha
It looks good though :)

Though I'd like see larger format option for GIFs and videos. It's kind of hard to upload animations here versus other sites.
Compression sometimes works but then it makes the submission look uglier and pixilated.
Also this suggestion might get buried but...
Groups. There should be something similar to what Deviantart has with making groups, where people can submit similar content in interests. It also helps because there's lots of artists people may like, but aren't currently watching. Having focused-interest groups would work better than just browsing through search.
I might poke around it and possibly make my own colour tweaks for it sometime but I do like whatever one it defaulted me onto.
Looking forward to 2020's updates and beyond.
Question: Much like the few comments before, are we going to be able to change our names? I really don't want to make a new account just for something as menial as a name change.
Glad to see something like FA+ going up which will help keep the site up and running with new updates. Cheeeers!
New site design is fantastic by the way, awesome work by everyone involved!
It'd also be interesting if artists could have a 'stats' option to see how many users are following what types of content or journals, as to better help us figure out what people actually want to see from us as well, and where to focus advertising.
That'd be super helpful.
(oops forgot to say it's a browser extension)
By any hasard, is it possible to go back to the old " exact number notification" like for example 4015S, 30c, 1075J instead of 4ks, 30c, 1kj ? I'm used to the old version and i'm confused with the new display even if the rest didn't change :-/
I moved to used the old look, if you want you could too :D
Anywhere in the future to have name changes??
I am sure someone already mentioned this in the post above.
Also gotta say I'm liken the new set up :D
We’ve brought on additional staff to rewrite and modernize Fur Affinity. They are currently working on laying down the groundwork, and we will provide a roadmap once they’ve had time to get acclimated."
Wooot!!
Is there a longterm developer vision for FA?
AWS Aurora?
new features?
Emoticons?
It cuts it off and there's no way to resize or move it. D: D: D:
https://imgur.com/a/6GreeCA
Also, any plans to improve story support in general? It's always felt like such an after-thought, here.
I dont feel comfortable knowing someone that I had blocked could still look at my profile and stalk me other places..
I take my time for the new update :p

Also, happy new year! <3
Dragoneer posted a comment on my profile back in the day it was in the works and nothing came of it.
Also make sure you check for ninjas around your home... this kind of descent will not be tolerated by Darth Neer
Some feedback right off the bat - don't like the Nuke function being at the bottom of the new art page only. Would like it at the top also.
But also, an excellent, clean-cut design, I really like the feel of this!
Yet.
Most sites that introduce a + membership tier eventually starts locking features behind paywalls. I suspect in a year or 2 there will be limited picture viewing for those without FA+ in order to offset costs of bandwidth use.
This light frames outline for each text/information block just look too outdated and not in fashion.
Old icons, new buttons, huge and thin headers, strange color decisions so far. Looks like you just kept old design, but made it have more elements of decoration. It looks huge, not minimalistic.
And what's up with site fonts? Why does aligned text is serif and everything else is sans serif? How does it should work in your opinion? Like.. The all font change looks wrong for me. Why just not lef users have [font] option then?
Welp, still, last thing. As I see, you are not finished yet. Why do you start unfinished project then? Ah, all of this situation reminds me deviantART.
This is exactly the same way that Gmail F**KED UP a few years ago...
And no option to revert to the original, SERIOUSLY?!?
The old design is BETTER!
I'm sick and tired of this ooey-gooey, BLOATED TRASH!!!
This is exactly why I HATE Windows 10 (and 8 & 8.1) and as such it took years for me to acclimate to Windows 7, being a die hard user of Win XP and sites with legacy interfaces.

Is the reports for the new UI also include suggestions, or are those best served here?
I do sympathize, as I imagine you're going to get bombarded by them in both ways for awhile. ^^;
I respect your work and I would be grateful to you from the heart if there was an opportunity to return the old beta theme of the site>~<
Not bad!
Flash is going the way of the dodo, meaning soon we won't be able to submit animations, and a lot of flash files are going to die with it. A lot of people, such as myself, have so far been resorting to third party options to share our videos and animations.
Will FA ever get MP4 support in the future?
dA's adding MP4 support (MP4s are allowed for Core members, but I hear they're going to do it for everyone eventually), and Newgrounds is embedding their own Flash player into the site, but for some reason FA's being dead silent about the whole thing.
I get the feeling Daddy IMVU doesn't want (or can't) shell out the money for the framework to allow real video formats, and that's why they're trying this FA+ thing.
btw is there any chance for webm or mp4 10 mb video uploads not only swf or gif for short animations ?
…then this‽
I mean, I miss the simplicity and fast loading of the old esign, but…
…I want to try this.
I submitted this idea months ago on the forums if you care to take a look.

Not really sure what the point of the change was, and is a bit of a minor inconvenience.
Please consider changing the default font for profile information though. It's jarring as hell compared to the basic font the site uses. I'm assuming I could do that with code myself on the profiles? But I'm not sure how to do that right now.

Without Flash, there will be zero (0) feasible ways to do animations on this site, and I'm not too sure I'd want to stick around after that.

Most will be okay with the UI change, and that’s fine. But it’s definitely not for me, the same reason that I object to Reddit’s current UI: It assumes that users are too stupid to navigate on their phones.
The featured submission seems a bit huge? And everything just being straight down instead of staggered overall is a little hard to deal with.
I can’t seem to figure out any way to see more of someone’s gallery without having to click on their username each time and re-enter their gallery from their user page. It was way better to click into their most recent and then click backwards to see more art from the bar that used to be at the bottom of the image.
Thanks and happy New Years!
at least the old theme still works, thanks for it, dont do the shit pls <3
also "download" button works logically now but doesnt give a chance to open files in new tab by middle mouse button instead. >.<
Everything is neat 'n all, but I have a few questions
First, not a question, but I think the text font is too large on mobile. I have a 21:9 resolution and it takes up wayy too much space, I can't imagine how much space it takes on a smaller phone screen.
Second, two things about FA+: What other benifets are being planned other than a badge and removal of 3rd party ads? I'd like to support FA like this and it's neat, but like discord nitro, theres a few more perks like custom emotes and higher file size uploads. Would we be seeing anything like that?
Secondly (pt 2), I thought paypal considered FA just a porn site and would get your paypal account into trouble for the association. How does this work for the FA+ payment. I'd like to not get my paypal account nuked just for the association ;_;.
Anywayy, Happy New Year
I'm not being able to change it back to classic... Someone can help me? I'm putting "classic" and confirm, but the change is not happening =/
Happy New Year to you guys!
Any chance to fave the banner picture?
Aaaahh...
ah...?
Oh...
This isn’t so bad!
^..^;;
This is what looking at my friend's profile looks like. 1/5th of the screen is the banner. 2/5th of the screen is two sentences and some navigation tabs. The bottom 2/5th of the screen can't even display the entirety of the featured submission or the entire journal. When I open this page I can't immediately see their gallery, favorites, profile info, anything without having to scroll.
???
✔️ Agree
(hold CTRL and use scroll wheel)
Trust me, it helps a ton because I do in fact think they just upped box size and text font by a fuckton.
Any plans to fix the minigallery on mobile?
It's very uncomfortable for your eye to have to travel this far across the screen and then try to find the beginning of the next line. There's a reason every major site, including Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, Amazon, pretty much any news site, etc., presents text in a narrower view. This is fatiguing, and I thought we'd left this issue behind with the days of phpbb forums.
C:
im more about browsing efficiency than looks and this losing such a large chunk of my display in comments or when viewing a submission bothers me most of all
happy new year!!
Or would it just affect other other ads.
Sorry if this is a stupid question.
will note that fonts are a bit odd-sized atm on desktop. On the retro everything is smaller than before. On modern everything is bigger. So a lot of profiles read a bit odd regardless .
My only real critique is the FA Banner. It is rather busy and on desktop it covers the screen across the entire width drawing a bit too much attention and breaking the clean aesthetic (also appears rather low-resolution on monitors upwards of 1080p). On a site that is supposed to be about the artists and their galleries such a huge banner is somewhat distracting. For that i genuinely prefer a smaller simple logo like banners on retro that takes over <50% of the screen width. Some space here and there can make all the difference in keeping a site from appearing overwhelming.
The new position on the desktop makes it easy to forget and scroll away from when viewing very large submissions like Comic pages.
Might be worth keeping a track to see if less favs occur with the new design.
EXCUSE ME BUT AURORA'S GRADIENT IS NOT CENTERED AND I HATE IT. *ocd rage*
But otherwise, it's a pretty sleek UI, and I especially love the banner of a feral dragon being fed an apple, it's adorable <3
Wow this update looks so cool! I wasn't using the beta so this is a big welcomed update!
I see there's some work being put into possibly changing usernames in the future? That is awesome, I'm really hyped!
If I may, I'd like to suggest the possibility of searching within people's galleries!
Some galleries have become HUGE, and even if things are in folders it can be hard to search for what you're looking for.
I feel like this, combined with tags, could become extremely useful for organization and easily browsing people's galleries!
Thank you so much for the wonderful work you're putting in the site, I'm so happy to see these changes and modernization of the site!
Man I absolutely second this! These sound like really comfortable and useful features!!
Also is the ability to search in your own and others favourite lists planned for 2020?
Going through those huge piles of favourites that I and some other people make with 30+ page is just not very friendly if looking for something specific
My journal is the same size as my gallery! Is it really meant to have that same level of importance? That should be WAY smaller imo. The focus should be on the user's content.
is it just not displaying properly for me? It's literally half my page and it makes me feel gross lol.
I'd prefer to see mine and people's galleries and favs take the main stage.
I can't find it anymore D:
Time to go get shitfaced..
Some of the themes are really nice but feel like merely small variations of the main one. And I really don't like the light theme; it looks more like it was added as an afterthought.
So an option could be giving users a chance to modify their profile colors as they please, so if I want yellow text over red background that would be my own choice.
Of course, always offering users the option to return to one of the default themes.
Another option would be letting people design their fA themes and add the best ones to the site.
Happy New Year!

Happy New Year's!
Two points:
1. even on large-screen devices like Galaxy Note series, nothing fits on a single screen. Even to view ONE section of the main ribbon, you have to scroll.
2. Folding notifications into one icon makes them clumsier (=less functional) to use, the "drop-down" (for the lack of better word) with huge centered font (and shortened numbers) is also rather clumsy, especially with enough space in the top line/bar to neatly expand it into something like:
≡ [F] ###S ###J ###C ###W ###F ###TT
(Where [F] is the logo)

Should be an option there for both the theme and template.
Edit: But I suppouse Aurora is closest to what I want.
Also, you have a beautiful icon! ^^
Wasn't expecting FA to change it's design so, it was a surprise for me when I logged in moments ago. Well done FA Staff... I'll have to explore the new changes later! Till then, I hope ya'll have a good time tonight bringing in the New Year!!
Liking the look so far, keep up the great work! <3
In my bio and there's a dotted line and a paw next to the links in my bio, which makes it clear they're links. Not the same in the descriptions I put on my submissions where I put a few linked text.
And IMO I kind of miss the classic look now. Not fond of the new layout.
IMO the best part of the update, the new font looks almost similar to Arial and Helvetica, primarily by the looks of the lowercase letter "a". My least favorite part, a dark-colored background which I wouldn't recommend to people with epilepsy; but no I don't have epilepsy.
There are a bunch of other, smaller paper cuts, but that is the one that annoys me the most right now.
pwease upgrade note system...
Still waiting for a change in the upload species bird list.
Please add parrots to it.
Have a good and safe new years y'all.
- NAVIGATION BETWEEN SUBMISSIONS - please let me do this with keyboard arrow keys (like deviantart, artstation, tumblr...). Also would like to see prominent UI arrow buttons for this as well (old design had tiny ones, new design has... none?).
- INFINITE SCROLL FRONTPAGE - this is pretty standard these days.
- EMOJI - just import a library of standard emoji.
Thanks.
Thank you for leaving the classic option available so the site is still usable, and have a happy new year :D!
Amazing job, +1 reason to support the site :3

The added bold fonts, the borders that stick out way more, it's way too much contrast, an eye-sore.

I think in the long wrong there is a lot of things you can do even such as Supporter only give aways, The ability to submit more then 1 submission at a time, having the submission wait removed, Organize submissions neater. One thing I actually liked about DA is they have actual Folders you can add your own image to which really sets it apart from the rest. Although its many flaws is why I don't use DA. Of course I could keep going but I'll just stop theres. I think there is a lot more that would be far more valuable to the community and could really catch the attention of the audience.
A small nitpick but-
Icons past 100 pixels would be very...very nice for a 2020 tweak. The feature where the user could drag and crop an uploaded image in most other sites are pretty cool for that. Same with adjustable header widths for the Notes page, the subject center just seems waaay too wide (or it's just me haha).

The site doesn't need all the bells and whistles to be a good and easy to use site.
Classic site is by far the better option.
I'd suggest giving links a unique color to stand out a bit, since they don't have that lil paw icon next to them anymore.

I am barely active at all on DA and their abject failure with regards to those two simple courtesies is the reason why.
Also, can I subscribe to FA+ and not get a special icon next to my name? I don't want the Fallout 1st gank squads comin' after me. XD
it's so unfitting I'm not seing anything on submission pages - just the keywords - keywords are more important than the image, title, author, whatever - keywords steal all attention
(I checked the default dark and "retro")
can't they just be one of the colours from some other part of the site? orange is bad when it's the only orange thing around

Also this looks nice on my mobile, and I like the drag menu for the profile, gallery, scraps, etc. Not quite sure how to access the notifications though...
nm it doesn't open notes, I just accidentally clicked that. Touch box needs to be a bit bigger for people who don't use a stylus, but otherwise pretty okay.

Ideally being able to pick a font ourselves would be great, but right now the site is pretty much unusable for me now.
But the future block feature I have seen Dragoneer mentioned a few times in this thread, that will be a new UI feature only?
As in those who remain to stick with classic, will not also get that new block feature?
Still today, many artists aren't even aware about the possibility to reupload in higher res and thus they simply keep their arts blurry. Maybe go for a mid-step like 1800px first!
Otherwise I like the new design, if some final font and color details gonna be fixed. Not perfect, but pretty nice. Other points like video support, tag filter, seperate notification counter, etc. had been mentioned already and I hope you guys gonna tackle them! Happy new year 🧡
Unless it was a fever dream, I swore fa had this option long ago. I think it's major enough for people to want to pay for but not enough for it to give non paying members a disadvantage. You could also have it be where people who stopped pledging still keep the banner but can't edit it again until they resub.
(Man, still remember the days of attempting to use FA on a 3DS/Wii/Kindle Keyboard)
fa's new layout is way better than deviantart's eclipse layout
I love that we can choose color themes, and most importantly, layout's not a confusing mess like dA's eclipse. It truly is what a site update should be.
Also really appreciate we can switch to the classic layout in settings instead of an annoy switch that can be accidentally clicked on. Starring at you dA.
Kinda sad that an ART website as big as dA chose such a poor layout tho.
Personally I think the main problem with eclipse (and just some other site updates in the last 5 years) is that it's trying way too hard to appease to mobile design, even for desktop.
I saw a dA user's own design of an updated DeviantArt layout that (imo) was so much better than eclipse. Mostly because it wasn't such a drastic change.
also i like the idea of FA+
i just hope yall allow for username changes maybe free one or twice before needing to sub as a perk.
also, hope you all finally get away from "Flash"
and start going to mp4 or html cause adobe even abandoned SWF files xD.
All and all, keep up the good work, hope the perks down the road, hopefully not 10 years from now ((catty sarcasm)) come in and give this place a good spit shine.
Thanks for option tho.

My profile looks even worse with words being cut off and I have everything centered.
If it helps any I'm using an Alcatel TCL a1x for a phone so maybe it's just my screen resolution? Which I can't fix anyway since mobile (to my knowledge).
I'm probably going to submit a Trouble Ticket when I have more time to let them know it's an issue tbh.
As far as modernization goes, FA's ability to function without javascript is a significant feature to me. Don't bloat the attack surface.
If the Classic UI is not going to be maintained, then its not really a viable option and you shouldn't claim it is. If you're not going to maintain it, just put it out of its misery.
Along with upcoming updates, will we be able to edit the username of our pages?
- Unable to view sidebar information - specifically Gallery Folders and the list of journals - when window width is below a certain threshold.
- User pages no longer display statistics for Comments Received, Comments Given, or Journals.
But, let's see what it brings.
I'm mixed on this.
If it were up to me the site would never change but I understand why it has to. (In terms of layout, at least)

Having just take a look at the submission type options, photographs is not mentioned.
It does beg the question on FA Plus... Can we do like on DA where it can be Gifted? If features are added, I think it would make a nice gift or gesture to make sure certain people can offer the rewards to others if wanted. It could even work like shinies, if that helps any.
This did remind me, also because it takes even larger portion of the front page, anything going to be done with front pages recent submissions and people abusing the shit out of it by resubmitting same YCH advertisements literally hundreds and thousands of times?
I can choose any of them from front page at any time, reverse search them and always get way more results than I can count with fingers (sometimes even get deja vu from them): https://puu.sh/EV7G8/8dc13e3e2e.png
(all FA icons in the box are identical files on differend submission IDs on FA and on bottom that scrollbar does go horizontally to reveal at least 200 icons more)
So instead of doing anything about this, just encourage more and more people to do the same so that the feed moves faster and faster to the point where everyone is botting their own YCH and adoptables constantly and actually finished artwork is buried somewhere under everything because that's not important? Just because it's currently acceptable and how many are using it for their advantage, doesn't make it any more acceptable or morally correct. Now people who want watches and do not do YCH, adoptables, bases, patreon censors, etc. any other absolute fucking nonsense if you ask me, get 2 seconds of timeframe to be even seen and then going back to obscurity because of people who do make things purely for business.
Just reminds me of how many games on Steam used to abuse recent releases section by postponing their game constantly so that it would always show up in the list, which made Valve to disable that feature completely and now require game developers to write them manually if they need to change release dates - on top of banning many devs who did that.
and I can think of a few suggestions that would be neat as subscriber features as well:
-the ability to edit your username, maybe limited to a handful of times
-a rotating featured image for one's profile page, a selection of five different images to be displayed as the featured image?
-the ability to 'resubmit' an image; I know that Pixiv allows this and it can be handy when someone edits an image drastically.
-the ability to display more user icons on a page. iirc, there's a limit on current profile pages
I'll probably respond to this with more ideas, but just a thought as a site-wide update; notifications for updates to the commissions tab, like maybe just a checkbox or button to toggle open or closed and have open notifications be sent to the inbox.
dildos.
The new sidebar is pretty big too, that could stand to have an option to be hidden.

What I was wondering was if, after it's retired, it's just going to disappear completely from the site or if we're going to be able to keep on using it even tho' it'll no longer be supported by the staff.
First of the new logo just can't be called logo.It may be a good image but hell.no. the old one looked amazing: it had style, it was simple...but this..ah,it looks small, it doesn't fit. It's also not modern: just look at design trands my god.
Second welp. All new headers size, color and design isn't good. Headers look too big, each text or info block placed in some weird frame...looks less stylish than it was before. Mobile update looks huge and bold.
And the last one, most annoying thing- what the hell is happening with fonts over this site? Okay, changing font isn't bad...but why when you align text it turns serif? while all other fonts and headers(!) are sans serif. Many people use align center texts for description,so half of the site is serif, half is sans serif...oh man..facepalm. Why? It just literally ruined many profiles...agh.
Okay,it seems you haven't finished yet. But so far new design ideas doesn't look modern, cool or with sense of taste or comfort.
I've looked on the Classic site as well as the Beta.
Everything looks the same as it has for years now.
I'll stick with the Classic site as it is easy to use and doesn't feel like it's a couple inches wide and a mile long.
Two things I want to mention though:
A bug: The description box doesn't pop up like it use to and instead posts it at the bottom of the page. This happens on both the search page and the user notifications page and it makes the "click for description" ability pretty much useless. It also has a VERY narrow width so everything gets narrowed down to a stream of letters and small words. I think this happens the most with formatted descriptions. (Color, links, etc)
A small feature request: Can you allow moving the search info and controls box to the LEFT side of the screen? All the websites that I know of keep their search options on the left side so having FA's on the right is very jarring.
I like it.
I'm on the new layout so the link could be different if you're on the old one!
EDIT: Realized I should have added the HTTP version of the link too just in case lol
Other than that, I would've taken some quality of life changes/additions instead of this subscription stuff. Even if it's like a donation, it'd be better to at least have some perks for supporting, especially considering how not many real updates have been made in years, and Dragoneer literally said it's supposed to be like Discord Nitro, which has perks, AND the last major update was the rather broken shiney system, which was also related to money.
Something tells me that the site owner is getting really greedy, on top of being already very lazy. Besides, can't he just hire more admins, coders, or something to do the job for him?
That's fair! I think everyone would prefer quality of life changes over something like a subscription service. Like blacklists and enforced tagging for one. Sadly, one does need money to do such things and iirc FA was made quite a long time ago on old code so it's a bit more difficult to upgrade without doing a full-on redo. FA does get money through ads, although people do use adblockers quite often and, even then, sometimes ads don't always pay the bills. They certainly help, but we have no way of knowing how much they help when compared to the cost of running the site/paying the current workers on staff. If we take what Dragoneer says to heart above in a few comments, it looks like FA could use some good TLC in the server department as well. And new servers will cost a pretty penny to get and implement.
And I wouldn't say it's greed. It may feel like it, but you need money to hire more staff like admins and coders. So it's not like they can just get a whole team together without the money to back it up. We can say they need a whole team of coders working 24/7 on a brand new website entirely, the whole shebang but, even then, if they don't have the dough, no one's gonna be up for the job. They have been working on this new UI for a while it seems, so the most I can say is test it and break it as much as you can and report any bugs/errors you find to try and help make it better. Give some good critique where you can if possible too! It can deff get frustrating, I myself am not a fan of the new layout at all, but if we as a community try and help make it better it will be better for all of us.
While we're at it, some nice suggestions to the FA+ system to make it a bit more like nitro's perks would be good too! I've seen a few good things people mentioned in the journal and they've gotten me a bit excited so I can only hope the FA staffs considers a few of them~
1. Having the global selections thing both at the top and the bottom of pages where it's implement would be nice. It's currently just at the bottom of each section.
2. The "See more from ... " section when looking at a submission is just godawful. How am I supposed to know what order anything is in? How am I supposed to know what's a newer submission and what's an older one? When I'm looking at a sequence I just gotta guess which one's next. Making it more clear would be wonderful.
3. Please bring back the previous and next buttons when looking at a submission. That'd help tremendously with the last thing I stated.
Other than those things, the layout looks great. I love the big banner up top, the site looks modern and clean, it's very nice. Just some more user friendly features would make it perfect.
everything is too huge for the phone now...
Is there any plan for customizing the size of the thing? I would like the whole page to not look so squashed and giant. I've only been using classic because I like my fossil greybeak ass tiny font and visual open space. I reverted to classic simply because this is not the user experience I need as an artist. It's too cluttered. DA made a cool toggle button to switch from old to new right up on top, maybe look into that.
On mobile not seeing the gallery folders is a huge pain in the ass. I have to toggle to desktop to see them. I use those when I do my commissions to look at their references or quickly jump through mine to grab my own references of return characters. Maybe just at the top of the gallery tab you tap to expand?
Having to realize you can scroll to the side to see info for commissions in mobile (at the very end too) is not super cool. When you scroll down the profile it doesn't show up...Past "yes" I take them... Maybe have a go to commissions list button there? I just see that as lost potential, and increase in lazy notes asking about my prices.
Also on these last two thoughts please make them general user tweaks if they get on any "good idea" lists, not plus perks. I can't afford subscription culture of the youth scene. Maybe for plus have a donate plus in the shinies area if they do not have it and click in settings they would accept donations of plus to their account?

I just don't see why after all this time there isn't really uodates people keep asking for. Then to throw in the FA+ with pretty much 0 bonus? I mean shouldn't you giys show a little bit of effort first? Not ask for support without really showing promise?
After seeing the new FA+ benefits I think one benefit I will keep my eyes out for is one that allows an easy method of viewing all the adverts currently on the site. Mainly since there are times I may see an advert I like, the page reloads, and I miss it and need to reload the site over and over till it comes back around. Of course, I'm not exactly familiar with how adverts on FA work. Though it is one thing I'll definitely keep my fingers crossed on.
As such I do think a method of seeing all the ads in one space can help if someone still wants to find and support others in a simpler manner. Maybe they need an artist and don't know where to look, Maybe they're looking to purchase some unique products from online stores, or maybe they want to find new patreons to support.
Actually the new desing is pretty okay, but I'm still gonna switch to Classic, it's just better imho
Happy New Year :)
I know we have the option to use classic, but it's kind of telling that it's written in bold that the classic is being retired, so this is still a bit of a middle finger to those of us who would much rather keep it.
I mean, you guys do you, but... Just honest feedback. Really not a fan of this at all.
I like seeing the folks advertise their pages or commissions and absolutely want to keep seeing those! just not the random PC ads haha!
Also, happy new year to all you peeps as well!
It's just so huge, and looks so different than classic mode, plus it reminds me of DeviantArt's new UI which I hate equally much.
I should really re-work my profile coding with this new site in mind at some point, but yeah blegh, don't like it. The text is for some reason also ENORMOUS, which for me makes me want to load the page at 50 percent, since I'm using a TV as a monitor currently.
On the topic of FA+, I wouldn't want to remove ads personally (this is practically the only site I can say that about), but I'm interested in what other perks might come about. Helping you guys out also wouldn't be bad, so I might look into it.
this site is great, and i've found tons of artists through it (who... moved from DA to here... then to twitter) And i really hope improvements come to this site (physically and personally)
If we're being honest, I hate the logo...
Everything else is fine though I guess.
Btw can one change the profile-banner in the new UI?
Just do a little bit of math $Total_Pages = $Artist_Submissions_Count / $Images_Per_Page.
It would be great to see how many pages of art an artists has instead of just "Viewing Page 3" I'd love to see "Viewing Page 3 / 10"
Suuuuuper easy to add, please, please please?
My only complaint with the modern skin now is no emojis to select when posting comments/shouts.
Happy new year! ^-^/
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!Thank you Staff for this cool update! It's been needing this for a long time!
the best feature is the ability to stay on Classic mode, so thanks for theat and good forsight.
the new mode is more a touchscreen mode. I can see, how the UI changes can make it more comfortable to use on a small screen, with your finger, but on a PC, teh bigger buttons and placement of the UI is more annoying.
especially since the UI is now placed on the right side, sharing the screen with the Image you want to see, which is really annoying. the UI distracts from the Image you want to see.
again I can see, how this may benefit usability on touchscreens, but I had never an issure with hitting the face button with a precise mouse.
so in short
new mode=Touchscreen mode
classic=PC mode
lastly, I am disappointed we still didn´t get Features, that sites like Deviantart already provide. such as the ability to change your username and the ability to create folders for your favorites.
especially teh last one baffels me, as you can already create folders for your own submissions, but not for your favorites.
so I guess for mobile users this update was really great, but for me, teh best thing about this update is, that I can just ignore it.
and thats not even ironical. thanks for that. that was a great decision to keep the option to keep the PC mode.
The only other major issue I have is that the font sizes all feel a bit to big. It actually makes it a bit cramped on my phone and even on desktop I find I have to scale it down to 80% to make the majority of the UI not feel to large.
Next change could be enabling/disabling public access to our favorite/watchlist, maybe? I mean... my dad knows my DeviantArt username and I don't want him to know I fav yiff XD (Or maybe the possibility to remove ourselves out of Google search? Like Reddit does)
Anyway, happy new year! <3
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH
THEY ACTUALLY DID IT
I'M SO FUCKING HAPPYYYYYYYYYYYY
And please add the ability to add keywords and tags to the black list, I'm tired of seeing disgusting drawings with diapers and feces.
Also, sorry, but the new logo is awful. Logos need to be able to be recognizable and/or readable at small sizes, and it's neither. You can vaguely tell there's a furry head and can't at all read the FA (which, even at full size, is really not clear. It doesn't look like FA, it's more like an rA or ZA, if people even recognize the scarf is supposed to be a letter at all. I get they were trying to use the "hat" of the a to be the smaller/middle line on the F, but it doesn't look like that at all. Arguably the F is lost in the old logo as well, but at least it was easily recognizable even at small sizes (and the fox tail is discernible at small sizes, unlike the Fender head). There's a reason that new logos have been getting simpler and bolder/more vivid, because it's easier to differentiate than more detailed ones.
I think you guys should just get a professional logo designer instead of using the staff, but the old logo is far better than the new one and you should really consider at least reverting to the old one, because it's a...really, really bad design for a logo.
Modern UI layouts a lot of sites are switching to give me dyslexia. I need spaces between my widgets, minimalism doesn't do that.
The new interface was a huge surprise, it's SOOO new and different! Give it time, but i can dig it.
I think it would be better to show the usernames first, then show the title of the journal, that way it lists all the usernames in a row and its more organized. This is how the faves and comments are done, so why not do the same for the journals?
Most people I see around here have money to throw away seeing how they spend upwards of $750+ dollars for YCHs, so I think $5 dollars a month is more than reasonable.
But I miss the forward and backward buttons under the pictures.
Is there a function for that?
The forward and backward buttons can also be placed differently. e.g. Deviantart. e.g. Left and right of the image.
I just miss the function itself.
Also, while I do like the style of the new interface from a looks perspective, everything is too large now! Both on Desktop, and the problem is even worse on my phone! I have a big phone, a Galaxy S10+. The buttons were just the right size before for use on mobile in my opinion, I could use the website fine. But now they are 'touchscreen friendly' intentionally by being way too huge and wasting space... It's so cramped it's almost bad enough to activate my claustrophobia.
Additionally, there is no sidebar in the mobile version, meaning that there is no way to go forwards or backwards at all! This is a big problem, now I have to click on gallery and find the page manually.
there are some things i didn't want to see as i was looking up stuff
Why not just get a UI designer instead of doing it yourselves? It really doesn't look professional at all, and I'd rather just stay on the old theme until those issues are fixed (the search feature isn't as buried there anyway).
^^
Actually... not bad... A few overall nit picks, to be honest. Some items could use a bit less padding and some resizing, such as buttons and the header bar (the user icon can be lost, tbh). It can be made a bit tighter, especially in mobile versions where you don't have much screen to play with. Kudos for rearranging things in comparison with desktop to mobile.
While I wish the side bar wasn't there when viewing pictures (waste of space and a distraction when it content should be front and center and the info should be below it, no matter what), having a click-view to expand it is a good touch borrowed from DA. Now you need to do one step further because it's a toggle-view, when my window isn't full screen.
That said, Dark or Retro is best.
Is interesting have a mobile version for the site, tho the browser on pc I think lose a lot of screen space with a vertical panel on browser options. Like e621 with its tags. Maybe if the browser options backs to a horizontal panel will looks better. Same for the Search panel.
I think the rest looks nice, and a curious way to start 2020. ^^
Behaviour: When on a profile page, pgdn or scroll down and move the mouse. Screen bounces right back to top of page. Look Ma, no hands.
The 'paw' link symbols maaay be the evildoers? Pgdn or scroll can move you down, but when the mouse touches a paw symbol, powie, back up again.
Mouse movement onto blank screen area doesn't seem to do it. Note: It does seem to be happening on this jrnl page.
This is happening in Opera, but checked, isn't an issue in Firefox. Opera ain't totally modern, but it is entirely compliant with general HTML standards.
If we're getting odd-funny games like this, mmmm, something else might not be as compliant as ya think. Over to you.
PS: Do I guess right? The paw symbols only appear on the profile page?
Mo' testing done: 'S bad enough that the profile page is wholly unusable. Is *definitely* doing same on this jrnl page. I'm typing in Firefox right now. Data: Nuthin' hiccups on a sub page with links on it (but paw symbols don't show up on those links).
Theory: Or! The paw symbol might not be culpable? None on this jrnl pg. The CSS sez that specific things should happen when a mouse hovers over a link. Alla is cool on a sub pg--different CSS--but the profile pg and jrnl pg CSS contains subtle wonkiness. How diplomatic of me. :- )
FYI: Opera version is older, ver 12.16 build 1860, 'cause newer Opera's chucked out tons 'o good features, the fools, the fools. Newer other browsers just go <Clunk!> and snarf up memory, IMHO (esp. Firefox).
Still, even if older, Opera 12 works perfectly smoooth with nearly any website out there that isn't doing ultra-complexified Javascipt and frames stuff. Or up-to-date crypto-and-security stuff. Ergo won't dis Firefox [when once-in-a-blue-moon I need it].
     Take two: Over to you.
On the bright side, I suppose there has always been a way to obviate any need for concern.
I doubt anybody will read or give a shit, but I wrote up my feedback here.
Does this mean there's a possibility that things are gonna get fixed now? I'd like to see warning thumbnails make a comeback for the front page after nearly 8 years of them being busted.
See you all in 2020! UvU
Also go look at Inkbunny's tag/artist galley block system. You guys could learn a lot from it.
Also go back to the old numbers layout for submissions. I don't want to see any damn rounded numbers. 'You have 1.1k faves wont see any new ones until you get atleast another 100 lololol'.
Amazing job and Happy New Year
Thanks for the watch and the kind words!
Theres certain fetishes i'd rather not see on the front page, and would love a way to simply remove that content from my FA-browsing experience.
This was a useful feature that kept me from having to open a link to the submission itself if I wanted to read the beginning of it to see if it involved a user I wasn't familiar with. Is a fix for this being worked on? I'm using firefox
Otherwise, this is a nice new layout. Gonna take a bit to get used to it again. Hopefully no MAJOR changes soon xD
I miss the gallery navigation pane the old site had when viewing individual submissions, I hope that one can make a return.
One thing I am absolutely not a fan of is the fact that the upsized preview of the latest submissions/favorites on users' profiles is no longer a thing (unless it's hidden under some new setting). I really hope that's coming back sometime in the future.
I belive it's the part where it says "Layout" and "Theme".
Btw. Than you guys for leaving us with the option to change it back. I know it wont last forever, but like I said, I don't use this site on my phone.
But my issue is that it's a band-aid fix at best and one that most definitely won't last.
And I have a couple questions about potential future updates:
1. Do you plan to add the ability to create folders in favorites galleries?
2. Will we ever be able to use the browse categories as search filters? (i.e., have @category, @type, @species, and & gender the same way we have @keywords, @filename, @lower, etc.)
One issue I have already seen is there's still a bug with searching on my phone in horizontal view. I'm unable to scroll down to the search button, it stops at the ratings and starts scrolling the page itself instead so I either have to flip to vertical or select the page number and press enter from the key pad.
But still nice work and the new logo is neat. Really keen to see if name changes come eventually
Also its dumb making the update change on people instead of letting them go change it themselves and keep it if they liked it. I literally csnf do shit on my phone because of how random everything is laid out and I cant change it because I have to use my pc to put my password in otherwise I'll fuck it up in mobile. And what funny as I'm typing this the while things lagging like crazy and no it's not my phone because everything else is fine.
Overall 2/10
I hope they fix that, but they probably did that on purpose to force people to use the new style.
Deviantart, Smackjeeves, etc now this.. I'll use the old style forever personally, changing things radically for the sake of "change" is just not good design philosophy.

Thanks Staff~
So whatever you did is hogging resources. I don't even know where to find the section to post a ticket, and am not clicking around randomly. If I find the classic UI back, I'm sticking with it permanently.
Sorry for the double comment. This resource hog UI crashed my tab before I could finish. I tried going back...it posted the comment instead.
Utter b.s. Just DA all over again. Can't use their reply button because it won't even show up.
Thanks. I'll probably stop using the site if you get rid of classic completely.

Echo chambers are bad and the result of people being afraid to speak up. Not everything needs to change or be forced on people. They'd better not get rid of the classic layout option.
And FA+ sounds like a good idea, just saying...
Sorry, I'm sounding crabby and frustrated. I realize this, and it's not helpful. I wish you'd left this opt in...
Aaaand...crashed another tab. Resource...hog. The old UI didn't do this. You broke more than you fixed, for me. But hey, maybe with all those donations rolling in since IMVU can't afford to keep things going without donations like originally was said (remember the donation drives ending because of that?), maybe they'll help me upgrade my device.
Again, sorry. I just...didn't need this. I don't want this. Give me the dinosaur Classic UI that worked for me. Please and thanks.

Everything but template seems to be under the account settings that shows under the pancake stack symbol upper left. (That's on any page.) So I'm either dumb, missed it, or it isn't showing up for me.
Thank you for helping me! I sincerely do appreciate it!
If I could offer some feedback, having (albeit briefly) used the new layout?
It really does use more resources. Since swapping back I haven't crashed a tab once. That really needs to be addressed, or a "lighter" version for mobile devices. (I know there's some way the site senses if you're on a mobile device, because they did an update to classic notes once that showed the note preview...it didn't work for mobile well, so it was automatically disabled for mobile devices, I believe through display size.)
It also ate my battery. I've barely been on today, being outside working and not using it, not using any WiFi, and I'm at 24%. The majority of the time was used in the new skin, trying to type/scroll through this journal. My phone was grunting like a little trooper, trying to load this journal, but it was a heavy lift. (Oddly, five hour old comments were at top, while minutes old were mired in between.)Though I know it has a ton of comments, I could load it well now, only a few seconds of grunt and I'm at the proper comment...and I can stay here without a crashed tab. (It only crashed a tab on classic on older journals with many more, like 6000 comments, regarding the IMVU purchase, or during DDOSes.)
Before, it was oddly even crashing during a reply comment, which is a totally new page. On classic, it's completely unhindered, loads and waits patiently for me. Before, I would type in notes, and had to wait for the screen to catch up with what I'd typed (very akin to DA, which lags and is click...click...click" as it tries to catch up as I wait to see if it's correct). On classic, it's instantly. So something is constantly trying to use resources in the new skin, or isn't ever done loading, which is a problem. (Endless scrolling pages would also crash tabs for me.)
I hope this helps diagnose something to make it more useable in the future.
Thanks again, and happy new year!
You're very welcome!
I would love to sort all my favourites!!!
Happy new year.
I just have one question, is there any way at all to get through to someone who has blocked you, because someone blocked me (not gonna say who) and I don't know why, so I just want to be able to ask them to justify it.
surely someone here knows how?
if it is not a way that directly uses this website, I don't feel comfortable doing it
Happy 2020 and i wish you all no hangovers :)
Or hell, if FA+ had this as a paid feature, I'd sign up in a heartbeat.
Interface: OK 10/10
Colors: OK 10/10
Image viewer: Could you remove that lighting? It is annoying, and those who have monitors with good brightness (In my case) completely dull the drawing, if the drawing is a lineart or traditional the result is worse
The rotten and what will really happen at the level of abuse: The "artist" yes, we do so, in quotes, is really abusing conb the size of the drawings, if before they were small, now they are uploading drawings just to show them and not be able to download them, really abusive images, the maximum to "appreciate" in the viewfinder but not on your pc: 540x800, 1000x800, 720x540 or in the worst case, I have already seen 520x350 images, this is the real abuse of the new viewer, if before they abused with the size, now they have reasons to see nothing In the comfort of your pc, I have a 27-inch monitor with those tiny drawings. So I'm still crushing them? ABSURD in capital letters, the size of the new uploads from now on.
It is not enough with the red letters now with images the size of a stamp
I'm sorry for wasting your time.

The type boxes are rounding with a white outline and a inner shadow that is aesthetically old looking. It clashes with the flat boxes of the comments and journal entries. I would say most people know the difference between the type box and the journal boxes, you don't need to make the type box look so different.
The Aurora theme is pretty but it's main flaw is that it's a gradient which when you have white text over a gradient it makes it harder to see. You've even made highlighted comments on a brightness scale that makes white text less contrasting. The only theme that reads the best would be the Dark theme.
Why did you pic Ariel for the main font? Why are there so many of these certain things bolded? Why is the kerning so bad? Why is is that I have to click the NUMBER of comments instead of "### Comments"? The whole section should be a clickable box like it used to be. There are just so many tiny little things wrong with how this website looks right now that set it back to 2005. Please consider fixing this.
Good luck with everything else you got going on.
No offense to the person who designed it, but I'll be sticking with the old one...
Its visible on the desktop though!
The new layout is great that I’ve noticed haha
(Besides the watcher n watching counter)
Slick new site! I have a question about the use of hardware servers, do you have any plans on shifting services into AWS? it could lessen hosting costs, increase robustness, and integrates very well with cloudflare. I do lift and shift work on the side and support pretty intense use-cases in AWS for my dayjob. I would be open to a chat to talk about technicals surrounding lift and shift. Would be really nice to never need to upgrade hardware again and do A/B testing on various aspects of the website with ease.

Similarly, "no robin's egg blue this time" is an iffy position to take if you're also going to have a theme based on Classic Dark.
The new logo is kinda cute as a graphic, but less than ideal as a logo. You know how a lot of people stick the icons of assorted services and their usernames on those services on things to let people find them? The old logo was recognizable at a small size as usually used in those. The new logo... looks too much like art, and the "FA" is even more hidden when it's shrunk down that much. It would be great to be able to use an icon rather than plain letters to symbolize FA when listing places to find me, but with this logo I don't see a way to feasibly do so.
It's well past time to move theme selection, and possibly one or two other options, off the account management page that requires password input to save. It's understandable to need to enter your password to change your email or password. Less so to change how the site looks. Color scheme previews would also be nice, even in the form of thumbnailed screenshots or similar. As-is, you're looking at entering your password a whole bunch of times if you want to have a look at what the different themes look like. Not user friendly.
When stating "Please note that the Classic UI is being retired, will no longer receive updates, fixes, or improvements," does this include updating text as policy (obviously it'd be bad to show one set of rules to users using one UI and another set to users using the other) and features (eg in case of changes to things such as maximum file sizes) change? Ideally page text would be pulled from a database or set of constants across all themes, to avoid this becoming an issue, but I don't believe this is the case at present as I've seen wording differences between Beta and Classic in the past.
I don't know for certain if this is my tablet or the theme, but in case it is the theme - the wine red highlight for selected text is really jarring.
There also doesn't seem to be a way to link to specific comments on the new UI, at least on mobile and whatever version gets served on my tablet. Given that this functionality is necessary for reporting COC violations in comments, losing it is... a problem. (It also makes it harder to refer to specific comments in general.)
EDIT: It tentatively looks like I get this option on my own comments, but not others', presumably because it shares a block with the "hide post" function.
With more color schemes, the need for accent colors that work across themes is even greater. It would be great if the BB Code parser had 1-3 custom color names added; something like "accent1" etc, and these corresponded to colors that will actually stand out on whatever theme the viewer is currently using. If someone using a dark theme uses yellow for part of their text that they want to stand out, it'll be practically unreadable to anyone on a light theme.
The original post, for the curious: https://forums.furaffinity.net/thre.....5#post-6413425
Whoever designed, and then okay'd, and then kept the current comment box implementation is a charlatan of a UI designer, for one simple reason: https://media.discordapp.net/attach.....12/unknown.png
Phenomenal. Round of applause, everyone, for the guy who put Cancel in a greater position of prominence than Post. Moreover, they managed to do so for a supposedly mobile-focused redesign, which use tiny screens that see mis-clicks all the time due to the clumsy nature of these sausages we call fingers. Yes, let's put a 'Nuke this comment from orbit' button right beside the 'Post Comment', because nothing screams forward-thinking UI design like the polar opposites being positioned beside each other.
I mean, the new Deviant Art design does this idiocy too, but at least they had the foresight to include a "Are you sure you want to blow up this lovingly crafted retort that took you twenty minutes to make?" prompt. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme.....34/unknown.png
And the worst part is, you don't even need a cancel button because the site is perfectly happy to trash your post by simply refreshing the page. Draft system? Nope! Prompt to confirm? Bah! Any consideration to accidental key or touch inputs? In your dreams, maybe. This is stuff the internet at large figured out last decade (New Years jokes unintended). Maybe the site's spaghetti code can't handle a draft or prompt, okay, fine, but don't exacerbate the problem by just adding an even easier way to frustrate the end user.
Oh, hey, so long as I have your attention:
Story hosting is still hot garbage. Only .txt files display, which butchers all attempts at formatting. The image preview thumbnails are ugly, heavily compressed and significantly smaller than visual art ones.
It would be really nice to have a draft system for notes at least.
The comment box can only be expanded vertically, whereas before you could do so horizontally as well. This is made compounded by the enlarged font size. Yes, it's easier to read, but it also makes creating large posts more annoying when combined with the reduced text field width.
Oh, bonus round for the above complaint, it's not even consistent. Starting a comment reply instead of making a root comment opens a wider comment box (which still can't be altered on the X-axis). Not only that, but it inherits everything the original post contained for some reason, rather than being a separate instance (DA has separate comment instancing, for example). Again, perhaps it's not possible on the current site foundation... but then, maybe it's time to move to a new one?
In short, new FA is the Rice Rocket of art websites; a new body over the same beater, and the changes have made it even less functional.
It's not just "It's new and therefore terrible", it's new and filled with myriad problems.
I suppose my ire is only sharpened by my favorite game, Warframe, having also received purely cosmetic UI updates that were distinctly and obviously downgrades in functionality. We had to fight to get text labels on items, that's how bad it was, and that's still not the default. Seeing form over functionality happen here obviously was not a pleasant discovery. At least I can stay in classic until the necessary improvements have been made.
Might be a nice idea to have a brand guide page just like Patreon has (https://www.patreon.com/brand), so we can download the official logo and visual identity materials to correctly link our FA pages from other websites.
I can't wait for these issues to be ignored
Me: Just another tuesday, man
I hate the new UI. I had to change it rather quickly because it hurt my eyes honestly. I've always liked the classic over the rest given that the text fits on my screen without any real issues aside from the occasional bug, is easy on my eyes, and doesn't seem to jumbled together. Its sad to see classic is getting axed as FA's classic layout is one of the few reasons I still use FA.
it’s wonderful software developed by
Sadly, Postybirb is only for upload... And it's great for it... But nothing for the download

Now that I have been in the updated layout for a while, there is one thing that has been bugging me. I dont like the hard lined boarders around my profile things all over. It seems better in previous beta layout. I think the boarders weren't as harsh visibly. If there were any boarders.
Also 4/5 themes looks almost identical to my eyes, what's the point of them?
I really wanna support my favorite art website 'n help out !
Also can you choose to donate more than just 5$?
But i'll support the ammount you guys let me then :>
Something I am definitely disliking VERY much right now are the ads below viewing journals and artwork. Most of them are bright or colorful AND animated, and it is incredibly distracting while trying to look at art or read a post :( I'm fine with the ads everywhere else on the page, but please, please consider removing the intrusive one right under artwork. It REALLY detracts from the viewing experience. I like ads on FA enough to have this site whitelisted, but this is junky enough to make me reconsider.
I think a lot of people agree here the at the UI is pretty dismal, and needs some revisements to be viable.
The new site lost a loooot of functionality for me, and is harder for me to navigate. I think some constructive comments already put forward the problems with the new UI, but FA does have a history of being rather negligent to its updates and userbase - Security for instance. And to be fair, a lot of users do tend to kick up a stink, but I think some of it's pretty legitimate.
Definitely forced me back into the old layout though since I actually find it harder to navigate than the new one.
Happy new years though!
So happy new year, if you celebrate it and lets hope as times goes , perhaps new chances come out more liking for those who now dislike it reason or another. But then again not all can be pleased x3

Also the lack of differentiation between viewed and unviewed is extremely annoying.
My thoughts on this:
The new UI looks fantastic. Sure, it's going to take some getting used to, but an update is better than no update. People have (literally) cried for a new UI - they got it. And some don't like it. Can't please anybody. There's room for improvement, and most users probably didn't even know this UI has been in development for a long time, and was available as a beta, but the addition of a new development team is going to see FA's UI and backend get a massive overhaul, with better updates and quick fixes.
I welcome FA+ too. It's no different to paying for a Spotify membership. You can still use Spotify without paying, but you get ads every 2nd song... this takes away the ads from third parties. Makes the user experience a bit better. Perhaps down the line, FA+ might start seeing some added features only to plus members. (increased filesize upload limits //winkwink//)
First I thought about migrating here from DA because their sucking Redesign but can't tell i fell motivated to go here right now
Edit: but probs, because your website dont require javascript to run, thats at least something! =)
Site is taking a bit of getting used to but enjoying the changes. Download button downloading image instead of opening larger is a big plus. An option to change the notes section layout to be taller is the only change that comes to mind currently.
Will be signing up for FA+ soon as well. ^_^
Using chrome here.
Would be great c:!

I tried figuring out what corresponds to what for awhile before just switching back to classic.
For us who take on commission work, that would be extremely handy to use to organize notes so we don't have to battle through pages of disorganized mess.
the new site looks gorgeous ♥ much more polished and user friendly~!
Also I do agree with the people above, please make name changing a thing whether or not it being a paid feature or a onetime name change thing, I don't care. I, like many others made my account when I was alot younger so I'd love to change my name if that's an option in the future.
On mobile it now just downloads, no big view to see, then press and hold to download. Same hoop, fullview, then download.
More steps all around.
Also to add, a while back, Deviant Art did the same thing as well, which did indeed break most of the site. They did partially fix it though, you can still download and full view art, but when it comes to animations and videos, you still have to download the files to view.
Of course their change was mainly because of community complaints. Yeah there were users on DA that complained that people could full screen their drawings so that's when they hit the patch.
Yeah, and the new page for the full res download used less resources, because it was the only thing displayed.
DA is a resource hog anyway. FA didn't need to follow their example...
1. Use a different color for visited links
2. Bring back latest submissions / favorites preview on user pages. Being able to quickly see when an user's latest submissions were uploaded is useful.
3. Improve navigation on submission pages
Its just a shame the new Logo is such a mess.
Can you please promise us you'd never get rid of the Classic UI? ^w^;;
If so, and the new UI is as unuseable as currently...I will be gone as well, unwillingly, because it just doesn't work on my device, period.
- Copy the URL of the image you are trying to view, paste it in a new tab, and remove the "/download" from the url.
- Use an extension for your browser to force it to open the file in the browser.
I'd like to see them revert what they did with the file server to what it was before the UI change, when clicking on the download buttin/link opned the image in-browser instead of asking you to open it with an app or save to your PC/Device..

Also, will pages for comments become a thing since loading all comments on something like this lags my phone to hell.
Although there was nothing particularly wrong with the old layout, browsers can do a lot more nowadays and mobile devices generally handle things better when a site bothers to accomodate their limitations.
I already appreciate how much easier it is to select submissions. Now I don't have to carefully move my mouse cursor inside of each and every tiny check-box. A little quality-of-life improvement goes a long way when you're doing these things 90% of the time.
I like how clicking the art displays a 100% scale view. Pretty handy for viewing those 50 megapixel lossless monstrocities.
I love that you have a dedicated "download" button for the art. From the very start I've always collected all of my favorite pics.
I like the "see more" suggestion thumbnails when you view art. Sure DeviantArt totally did it first, but it's still a good idea.
I'm relieved that you still allow Flash submissions. Chrome might stop playing them but that doesn't mean that other browsers or older portable-versions of browsers can't still play them in the future. No need to lock away a decades of art.
I have a suggestion, though it might be a little late.
It would be nice to be able to adjust the artist grouping range when viewing the list of new submissions. Instead of new submissions, by day, grouped by artist, maybe be able to view the last month of art, grouped by artist? I tend to fall behind but I still like to download all of a person's art while I still have the same folder open on my hard drive.
I missing being able to hover over recent submissions on an artist's page to see a larger version.
I wish that clicking on the "watch" button didn't still send you to a whole new page. Changing the color of the button would be enough.
I already built something in NodeJS that merges together multiple RSS feeds from different sites and it's very handy to be able to see what's new without having to visit multiple sites. But not many sites have RSS feeds for me to use.
Then you took donations again.
And now this core thing.
Just gotta fill your pockets some way, huh Neer?
Which, given where it is, would suggest that not a ton of testing went into it.
Also, it's just me who prefer the old site layout. I mean, the rest of the new stuff is very welcome, but if this new layout was to be more "clean", let me be honest: I feel it feels even more cluttered. In the old design I was able to scroll throught my follow's submissions easy, with this one took me a time to find where the button to change.
I saw that there's a option to keep the Classic UI, but I ask one thing: Keep that option please. Don't do like Twitter that, even after the horrible feedback, decided to change to a new, crappy UI that was more of a mobile one without a option to go to back to the old UI;
tl;dr: keep the Classic UI as a option
Under "Account personalization" and then template
Also, i really want to get into the modern theme, but there are still things that doesn't look right for me. The settings menu is too long that it literally got out of the browser's page, and the preview thumbnails on the "See more from [username]" in the submission viewing page look pretty blurry and stretched, especially with the artworks that have long height. Would have been better if the thumbnails stay at the same size as the original images like in the classic theme. I would really appreciate if you guys at least fix these.
Constantly clicking the next page button when looking for something annoys me.
Also I noticed something a little annoying -u- in the classic design the notification numbers are no longer exact. For instance it shows 1.2kW instead of 1229W
I don't like any of the beta site themes. They are clunky and a pain to use. I don't want to be forced to use them.
The Classic site is far better, easier on the eyes and overall a better version of the site.
The Beta site looks and feels like it was made for phones and not computers. Long and skinny with a cramped layout.
Can't the Classic version layout just be transferred to the new user face? The old layout but with an updated engine behind it.
The best of both worlds.
From what I've seen, the Beta is no where near finished.
Should be quite the disaster
FA on the other hand has a bad habit of starting projects but never actually finishing anything. They do just enough to hold the site together.
My only question is blocking 3rd party ads... I don't ever recall there ever being any???
At work, the customer interacts with our product via a web interface. The old interface had a mix of vertical and horizontal control elements; like buttons, check boxes, and results screens. The problem with that, as we have here, is that not everyone views things with the same size window. Be it different resolutions, window sizes, etc. If you mix vertical and horizontal design elements, the system is gonna puke really quickly trying to serve the user the interface and results in a way that is visually appealing and easy to interact with.
The second problem is that a persons vision will naturally follow things vertically or horizontally, Our eyes will "read ahead" just that extra little bit. Effectively caching data before we actually need it. Having to switch back and forth between vertically and horizontally arranged information screws this up. Instead of your brain already having that data cached, you need to switch back and forth between vertical reading or horizontal reading. Having to switch back and forth also causes eye fatigue. For the same reasons it is fatiguing when you have to flip back and forth in a book to referencing disjointed lines of text.
For example: At work, our product displays records sorted by time. It then will display the related data horizontally. All the sorting and control options are also arranged horizontally at the top of the page. Most eye movement will always be horizontal.
Sometimes a vertical orientation is the correct answer.
On top of this, if you need scrolling, you want the user to have to scroll in only ONE direction.
For all it's faults, the "old" interface is almost exclusively horizontally oriented. You are almost always looking left to right and not up and down. With all the "controls" either above or below the pictures, it's simple to keep them out of the way of the user when not needed. If the user wants to get to the page controls, they just scroll up or down to get to the options they need. You never needed to scroll side to side unless the person uploaded in OMGWTF resolution.
To me, it's amusing to see FA adopt an interface design that my work spent good money to get away from.
Happy new years to the staff of FA, and thank you for all your hard work. :)

It feels too crowded and cramped, I'm probably the only one who feels this way. Yes, I did create a ticket to have someone look into it, as it feels like a bug *shrug* not gonna hold my breath though.
It hogs space that the art should be using.
The pages are cramped and narrow which also makes the pages a mile long.
I prefer the Classic site. I just hate that they are basically going to let it die now
This doesn't feel anything close to discord nitro perks; give us more than a dinky badge and ad removal. Half of us are already using some form of adblocker. It's 2020, not 1992; that won't drive a lot of people to support the site. Give us gifs, unlimited upload sizes,--something else than just something we can get on another site.
Give us proof on the servers too because we saw what happened last time with the "new servers"...
Will they ever fix or update this? Probably not. Five dollars to block ads? Really? I can do that for free thanks to UblockOrigin and AdBlock, screw that 5 dollars a month crap.
Competing companies buy out each other to get rid of competition, which I haven't seen that being the case here. At least yet
I also don't trust that 100% of the money that's being used for fa+ is going to what they're stating it will. The Site Owner doesn't have the cleanest of track records when it comes to things like this hahaha
- I can already block ads with a certain add on that I won't name
- There is no guarantee that the money will be made to improve the site, at least, not at a faster rate it already gets "improved"
- IMVU is a company I wouldn't trust any more than I can throw a football
- Why the hell should ad removal or other features be paywalled?
Also, consider removing the upload size limit and allow more tags. <3
P.S. I still hope that the site will have the function of changing the account name.
I know this has probably been mentioned a ton of times here already and I'm very wary of expressing my opinions online, but you mentioned that name changes are being looked into and will most likely be available at some point in the future.
When and if that happens, will you be limiting the number of name changes available to users on the site?
If the option stands unlimited it could see abuse from some users. On some services that allow this, some people change names and handles so frequently or go by such crazy ambiguous titles, I have no idea who they are anymore.
One of the reasons why I adore FA is because artist names stay the same. This may be a relic of old web design, but it's also a form of integrety. You know an artist by their FA account name, moreso the longer it stands. In a community like ours, account names are how you find, keep up with, and recommend artists.
Since shifting to a new account is currently so difficult, the process holds a lot of weight and risk in losing watchers. It's a huge decision, tied to a new name for people to follow and know you by, a new start for yourself.
I'm not against the feature -- It would help so many users be who they want to be, not feeling shackled to an old alias. But please...limit it to somewhere between 2 to 4 changes max for the account, or limit name changes to one every 6 or 12 months.
I can also see name changes happening frequently to make it harder to artist/commissioner beware that user. Having the 6-12 month limit.like you mentioned, would help that to an extent.
The new changes hasn't made me puke yet.
For all the faults of the old site. It's actually pretty good layout and design that just needs some tweaks.
On mobile, the classic site is at least lightweight enough that it's nimble on noble. The new one bogs down on my phone.
I had that issue as well, like something was constantly loading in the background, and crashed my tab constantly, and made note typing slow to where I'd type and watch it catch up. Classic works better, is faster, and has all the important features. (Though not a fan of the new numbers up top being rounded off to the nearest hundred...)
where's the link to the new submissions from people i'm watching
and likewise to their journals?
Also, typing on here is leggy as hell lol. Dor context I'm on Chrome, on mobile (android).
Would definitely prefer not having random ambiguous shortenings of words in the UI, though.
I think typing on long pages (like this journal with its bazillion comments) is always (until devices improve sufficiently) going to be laggy on mobile devices to some degree, so to me it largely seems par for the course.
Hopefully we'll get that on mobile at some point? I'm liking the new design overall though.
Actually, classic lags waaay less, and doesn't crash tabs, even on this monster of a journal, now. The new UI crashed my tab, even just a few hours after this journal started, and in notes I'd watch the screen try to catch up to what I'd typed.
There's definitely something constantly loading in the background of the new UI, or something hogging resources in it. Be it more ads, more / different coding, more scripts...something is wrong. It isn't lightweight and speedy at all, nor mobile friendly.
Sorry to jump in, but I know you know/knew more about the site than most, and maybe will be listened to more than an average user.
I can see aspects that may be mobile friendly, but there's too much functionality that's simply unavailable unless you're on desktop. Until I get around to mucking with passwords, I'm likely not going to be spending much time on mainsite FA, tbh - the Modern Dark theme that was set as default for all users, near as I can tell, gives me a headache.
I could almost stand it, but it is too much contrast (though one skin supposedly mimics classic dark). The bright themes do that for me, conversely. I know there's one light theme for the new UI, a slightly off-white, not true white.
This shouldn't be something that requires a password to change, honestly. I hope it gets put to global or somewhere else. Functionality shouldn't be a trade off, or else nothing is gained but frustration by the user...or possibly lost users if they can't find a workaround.
I like the new site UI! Might take a bit to get used to it, but first impression is a positive one!
And Happy New Year (and decade) to you guys and to everyone reading this!
Because comics are harder to read and I hate that
Now I can do this by clicking on "Full view" and then only open in a new browser window, which is very not very convenient. It used to be better .
old ex. I choose time range "A day" at 3:00AM on Tuesday, i see submissions back in time until 2:59AM on Monday (about 24 hours)
currently ex. I choose time range "A day" at 3:00AM on Wednesday. I only see submissions going back the to 12:01AM this wednesday (last 3 hours)
What the hay FA?
Also Happy New Year
Looks really nice though!
can this be brought back? it would be a hassle for people who get tons of notifs in their inbox and to remove em, they would have to scroll to the bottom of the page to do so
Had that through an extension until recently, and I kind of miss it.
Scroll down to the Site Layout/Theme section.
From there, you can select one of several layout themes. Most of the themes are dark, and I can't see them well with my bad eyesight. However, there is a light setting for both the Modern and the Classic themes. The light setting for Modern is quite harsh, being nearly full white. But, the light setting for Classic is the original pale bluish-gray that many of us are used to.
Click here while signed in --> https://www.furaffinity.net/controls/settings/
Scroll down to the Site Layout/Theme section. Select Classic and choose Light. There is a light setting under Modern as well, but that one is way too intense for my eyes. My low vision prefers Classic Light the most.
I don't have high hopes on seeing it though to be honest
I don't think you or 'Neer have to worry about the "like it" side being less vocal. This graph would be useful, and then suggestions for improvement could be taken in.
I was just mentioning that in the fact that just via the comments, there's more likely to be negative because that's how a vast majority of people work. Won't say anything about something unless they felt negatively effected, in reply to magna seeming to think the graph is gonna be vastly negative on the new design
There's also enough people offering suggestions, not just "I like/hate it." Even the like group has tweak suggestions, features they want returned, etc. Like both sides are equally wanting the download button reverted to showing a full res image to download from that page. (Or an equivalent offering to do so.) The instant download (on my phone) or prompt (on PC) don't show animations at all, for example. I know you make some of those. It would be nice to actually see them in action.
Like me...I went back to Classic and offered my feelings on how it felt/acted laggy/heavy. I know that the classic skin won't be updated anymore. I DO hope that he'll revert the notification counter back to normal numbers instead of x.xK. There was enough room before, and would be now. That changed after the UI force change, and shouldn't have.
So I think there's room for even a skewed result to have useful information/feedback. I trust that 'Neer wouldn't be too hurt if there's a lot of "don't like it" people, because he knew that many are comfortable with the classic look and it's functionality. He also probably knows that not everyone who dislikes the new UI likes classic, or is against a new UI. So some feedback would be good, regardless of the graph, though it would be a useful barometer, I think.
Sorry I got verbose. XD
With the classic UI, my only standing issue was not being able to adjust the text size without having to zoom the hole page in. The rest of it worked well and didn't seem cluttered or bloated. And as i said elsewhere here, if they would focus on a mobile only UI and not trying to make a UI to suit both desk top and mobile as an 'all in one', a good few issues would be avoided outright on either UI.
As well, in the future I hope they work on minor changes to better each. Such as being able to change the text size in account settings as one example. Things like this wouldn't be an overhaul of the site, but would make the site far more pleasant to use for people with better or worse eyesight. And of course another example being able to block certain tags, being a long requested thing. Something that seems simple enough to add in for both.
There was a way to change the text size of what you wrote in journals, profiles, etc, using the [header 1] [header 2] and [header 3] [/ header] format codes (without spaces, because I'm not doing it right now], and they implemented a sizing function on written subs, but overall, yeah, no resizing. I only have a phone, so pinch zooming helped me. Computers needed to fiddle with sizing somehow that was cumbersome.
I was under the impression there was a mobile site version, but it was never really made well known (just like sfw Furaffinity was a mythological beast). But yeah, "all for one" sites rarely work on both. A mobile/computer mode helps, but usually limits function. I prefer full site, even on mobile.
As I understand, Classic is being left to rot, and those users with it until they have to switch. Hopefully it receives maintenance by Yak, if not updates. The "new shiny UI" just...needs more work than the Beta people had been using, it sounds like.
Hopefully they do, but we'll just have to see.
For text sizes, a slider or something of the like would be better than using code. Something I can set once and be able to more easily read everything with my less than favorable seeing spheres.
As for classic, I'd like for the staff to better explain whats going on with it. To little is said in the journal to say for sure one way or the other. Some have read it as its being left to rot, and others are taking it as its not going to be changed any more than what it has with this update. The journal suggests things for it, but I'd rather it be more clear.
A slider or +/- buttons (which is what the written submissions have) would be good. The trouble might be if the text moves, buttons and other things may as well, and I don't know how much this new UI will "stretch" for that...or if it will too far, and mean trying to slide all over to read it. Someone else said it well. The Classic UI is basically horizontal, and people only really read in that way, scrolling occasionally. The new UI is...scrolling both ways constantly, and overload.
We may not like the answer, but hopefully it's explained and maintained for as long as possible. Because this new UI definitely wasn't ready or sandbox tested sufficiently.
On a less relevant note, I wonder if any of the staff prefers the old style.
Showing what the users prefer, and showing what your own staff prefer would still show two almost completely different stories as well. Like: "You implemented something so suddenly, that your own staff like/hate it" can paint a huge picture even if its a staff of only 10 people.
It's not completely respective of whats really going on, but is still proving interesting non the less
That's a hard pass for me. Shame, too, I quite liked the UI...
Go to your profile page.
Click 'edit profile' in the upper right hand corner.
Click on 'Account settings'.
Scroll down to 'Template'.
Select 'Classic'.
But I resent the FA+ thing. As somebody who saw deviantART change their paid membership with an elitist 'CORE' I finda that + annoying... so who doesn't pay is technically a FA- like it's less valued?
Click 'edit profile' in the upper right hand corner.
Click on 'Account settings'.
Scroll down to 'Template'.
Select 'Classic'.
Scroll down to the Site Layout/Theme section.
Select Classic, then choose either Dark or Light.
anyway, I love the new design and I wish everyone a happy new year
Two things I have a problem with:
In the "User control panel", having the "select all", "remove selected" and "invert selection" buttons also above the "new selections" would be nice.
User pages look imbalanced with the left side so short and the right side so long.
Having things like this be customizable would probably satisfy a lot of users.
Happy New Year!
See, one of the things i love about FA is how simple and fast it is. I actually think Classic FA is better than Classic DA for this very reason. If it just followed the direction of most other websites out there, and became cluttered and slow, it wouldn't have the same advantage anymore.
So while i commend you all on the work you've put into this new design, i'm sticking with Classical for its superior functionality.
DA has basic functions hidden by scripts or something to the point some things aren't useable unless you allow the ads, thus heavier scripts.
Despite saying this new UI is lightweight, I feel it's got something in it that makes my older phone strain. My specs are similar to new lower end phones made now, so this update will limit users who prefer or only use a mobile device, in my opinion.
I appreciate the work, but it's just not working well for many.
Or...a worse landlord. You can never know.
It's cool you guys managed to release it literally on new years day. Wishing everyone who reads this the best. ^_^
Borders you used are copycat of twitter (it was a bad design choice too) but thicker/brighter.
Logo should be very simple and catchy, suitable for icons and promotion on other sites. In current state artists wont use it on their social media to link to FA, because it looks like some OC badge. (Btw. if you make logo, post it in various resolutions and svg+png.)
My main issue with the newer layout is how it appears massively zoomed in (laptop, not mobile); almost feels like I'm viewing a mobile site on my desktop.
I don't know if there's a way to custom scale down things without using the browser's zoom, maybe increase the right and left margin values, but it would certainly help me start to transition into it if those were options I could control (to an extent).
in lieu of typing a walkthru, i'm sending a message ace wolf. im having trouble finding copyright info on his extension.
Plus the mobile version is just annoying. Have to scroll all the way down just to get to the shouts.
Edit* yea everything is larger compared to the old format even doing a side by side comparssion everything is enlarged. and it with the same size screen and format using the slate for the modern/dark for classic template
Missing "new/previous submission" roulette is super weird. That was a really good browsing feature in old design, it was used a ton
Very snazzy!
I do hope that some kind of flash support will be found for the site as I rely on flash an awful lot for my vore animations; while I could record them and post them as videos, my flashes have random counters in to change it up so it never seems like a proper loop and that'd be lost if I had to do that (and it'd take a while to record with FRAPS then import, compress and re-render)
The new design sucks!
Where is the chronological preview unterneath the picture?
Looks like freaking deviantart now -.-
Unless you're on mobile. No gallery for you at all. Sorry, not enough space. That was needed for everything else. (Unless it's changed now.)
Could you guys
-make the notifications read as whole numbers like before, not in 1.1k form
-make the download link below the images open the image in the same tab like before (or add a link that opens the image in the same tab)
Would be handy if you
-go to the artist's gallery below the images, it went straight to the correct page, instead of the first one
-could fave a picture by pressing f on the keyboard (like on weasyl)
-could toggle between small view, large view, and 'fit to screen' size viewing the images (like on inkbunny)
Props to the fact that when you click the journal notifications, it actually goes to the journals instead of the journal comments.
Oh and I would be glad if you were able to change your username too! Once a year would be a good interval for that.
Judged from my phone
https://ibb.co/TY4wnzm
🍆 The submission title is an element within the gallery and should not be of equal size to the gallery headline.
🍆 The gallery headline font appears as regular, the profile headline as bold weighted. Pushing the profile info box above the gallery in hierarchy. Which feels extra off, when it is placed under the gallery. The gallery should be the main element of a profile page.
https://ibb.co/WzNY7sj
🍆 The buttons for notification management appear as the most dominant elements. They have margin that breaks their text and bloats them up. I have a harder time to casually grasp the content inbetween.
🍆 A guideline in design is the "law of proximity". Related objects need to be closer to each other. The notification headlines are too far from their content while the buttons stick close. Weird hierarchy.
Hope this new one it's not a final version
Happy holidays :3
Please note that the Classic UI is being retired, will no longer receive updates, fixes, or improvements.
It means the great looking classic design will not be changed anymore! YAY!
Happy New Year!
Re-add the "Next" and "Prev" buttons, as they are missing on mobile. Reading through a comic, when the poster didn't put their own "next page" links, gets kind of difficult
FA+, only way to make it work, make it similar to dA's. We would be spending 60 bucks a year for FA+, while dA's core is $50/year (60 if you do bill 3 months) with even more benefits. Don't try to mimic Discord's Nitro, as FA =/= Discord.
Another note, add "furaffinity.net/sfw" to your list, or something that can easy switch SFW on.
Add blacklist, for crying out loud!
There are some other UI tweaks I would do
It used to be that if somebody in my subscriptions posted like four pictures in a row I could essentially open up the oldest one and then with a simple click of the button move on to the next one. I now have to either go back to my submissions or open up the artist profile or have multiple tabs open, one for each picture I want to view. It's definitely slows down my running around on the website.
Honestly I mostly used this website For its simple and fast clean ui, and I don't think I've ever switched back to an old ui scheme so fast I even gave steams new ui more credit for its design and the fact it had new features that were useful, but this new ui is a downgrade if anything.
So I hope you read this and try again because seriously don't just shoot yourselves in the back like this.
Also the new. UI is nice i some ways but is significantly to spaced out.
Long story short: I hate it. It’s absolutely terrible.
And I think soon the FA team is gonna realize the beta users were such a small minority because everyone else loved the Ui the way it was.
Thank you also for posting these instructions here to help us adapt. :)
will there be an option to change our usernames in the future? i feel like that'd be a really great feature for the site to have, most art sites do nowadays
But I'm not sure about the new logo, there's just something about the simplistic design of the last one is gonna be missed
It's a lot less iconic
This also broke the ability to full view animations as well. So please, if you read this, fix the button so I can full screen the image without having to download the file onto my hard drive.
Some people wrote here the classic option will stay
Thank you for updating the site! I use FA a lot on my phone/tablet, & I know a lot of other folks who do has well...so this is a welcome change I'm looking forward to exploring the new changes.
My bad eyesight means I usually have to run pages zoomed in/magnified. I've been running FA at 125% size for IDK how long since the default text and such were usually too small for me. When they updated to the new look, my browser kept the 125% zoom and made everything look MAJOR overblown.
Now that I've shrunk it down to 100% size, not only do I see that it's actually quite a decent format, but it's also got a default decent font that I can see without having anything zoomed in. Although I haven't read any stories yet with the new layout. XP
Everything feels so nice and clean!
Happy New Year too.
The new banner logo is hugely distracting and doesn't fit with the color palate of everything else below it. Why does it take up the entire width of the screen.
Alternatively, make an option in site settings (or point it out to me, if one exists) to toggle between simply viewing full images and forcefully downloading them.
Thank you.
Need to update your written word interface to maybe 1999 standards? SF and other sites have you trumped completely in that area.
I changed the looks as soon as I saw this horrible useless design.
Go to your profile page.
Click edit profile in the upper right hand corner.
Click on Account settings.
Scroll down to Template.
Select Classic
Dont forget put your password before clicking save chances!
and there you go!
+1 👍
I definitely like the new changes! It really looks like you guys did a lot of hard work!
Though, my only thoughts so far sinceI haven't actually explored the new stuff yet is, I think I liked the other logo better! The foxtail one. It was a lot simpler and looked more streamlined. The new logo art is very cute dgmw! But it's rather chunky and has less application possibilities. Like, if I were to make business cards that had the different gallery/contact places or have an FA link on my own personal website that used a picture as a link, I would use the previous logo design and not the new one!
(Also still super laggy on mobile)
Good job tho, it's nice to see a big update and happy new year!
I don't like the black bar at the top constantly being visible, though. Maybe add a feature that makes it vanish when scrolling down? Like how the web address bar in mobile chrome disappears if you scroll downwards. Just a thought.
Although, I will say that I love that there's a thing in the settings to change it back to the classic look. It's little things like that make me love this site more than Deviantart.
HOLY CRAP THE SITE UPGRADED!
I do freelance web/graphic design, and to my eyes, it looks terrible at the size it's at and most website logos (or logos in general) are simple. Some examples would be Google, Apple, whose logo was changed way back when it was founded because they realized the logo wouldn't be viewable at small sizes, Amazon, and, yes, the old FA logo, not complex like the new logo. At 236px wide it's okay, but at 64px or less, it's not at all good looking.
It's not an effective logo if it has to be explained what it is.
The fox tail is simple and easy to recognize
I haven't even seen this logo on the site yet, but it keeps popping up on Discord whenever I post links there.
I know she is part of Neer's inner circle, but a great think to have done was have a site wide contest if they were going to pick a new logo. It would have been a big boost to the site and give us some much needed community building
Nearing 2020 comments on the 2020 update by the way!
And yes: The new version still just sucks with features having been removed or changed to the worse and also navigation got considerably worse in some areas... Very disappointing... :(
- search option in notes (keywords, usernames, etc)
- search filters on the whole site (lets u select what u DON'T want to see specifically)
- <3, thumbs up, like feature whatev u wanna call it on comments
thanks for the hard work & providing a platform for all us scalies & fluffbutts!
And yeah, the size of text of the classic template was much smaller. Hmm..
Personally this new theme is kinda a killer for me, and I honestly don't really like the older theme either. I think you guys should modernize the website a little bit more, and without all of these gray 1px borders.
<3
It would be interesting to make some changes, taking the opportunity. ^.-.^ C:
why not change the layout to allow you to view old messages, watchers, and notifications.
>.-.>
I find it a little frustrating for me to have to delete them in order to see the older ones, without realizing it, I lose some. x.-.x
It's just a suggestion, not just focus on the look, but on functionality as well. >.-.> :v
Happy new year and best wishes in 2020!
Happy New Year all y'all fuzzies - stay safe, and be kind!
Effing new years...
(NB: In some sense, don't mind me...I'm almost never a fan of change.)
BUT... A bit of feedback regarding FA+... It's not all negative, I promise:
FA+ seems like an absolutely worthless feature, if a site user is looking to get something more out of it, than just supporting the website.
For example, I'd never support your website monetarily just for the sake of supporting, with the perks listed (i.e. literally just supporting you) being the only thing I get out of it.
Why? I find your moderators to be extremely unqualified, your morals absolutely ridiculous (the amount of favoring, turning a blind eye and ignorance the site admin and moderators showcase is astounding) and the lack of consistent rules for everyone to obey, is just a plain joke.
What I could pay for, is to have exclusive access to specific type of uploads, such as webm (especially with flash not being supported anymore soon), large file sizes, better gallery management tools`, page customization options and custom emote packs, like on Twitch or Picarto, which either me or people who follow/subscribe to me would be able to use with codes related to my name, i.e. like on Twitch and Picarto (crude example, ":doncoonomegalul:").
With the later being something that I wish the site moderators would actually pay attention to, requiring seals of approval first before being able to use them.
Honestly, with the whole emote thing being the easiest way to get people to pay money for getting to use some silly little feature, I don't understand how FA hasn't jumped on the wagon to use it too in order to make money.
I mentioned the site rules above: why is it, that FA is the only site I know of, where things like tracing another person's artwork, or not citing sources or references is considered completely okay?
If a user's work is an obvious trace of another person's work on another website, why does it require for that person on the other website to actually sign up on FA first, just to report theft of their work? Why does it need to be a report from THE original artist? And even when it IS the original artist, your moderators keep questioning them "Yeah, uhhuh, sure, but can you prove that you are who you say you are?".
As for citing sources and/or references, it's so dumb how a blind eye is turned towards this. So many people are flooding this website with YCH crap, that are either directly traced or referenced from photographs or works of other people, without citing their sources... Because my gosh, think of the horrors that would come from people knowing that you reference things.
These things aren't okay on any other art community websites. Why is FA the only one that's okay with this?
As for reporting issues, reporting things like racist or hateful comments should be doable from a dropdown menu next to the comment, that says "Report".
The same goes for uploaded artwork. Having a separate "file a trouble ticket" page is pretty pointless.
This too is something that other websites use successfully, but not FA.
I know many of my watchers don't always get a notification when I upload a submission and it has been going on for years, I even submitted a ticket but a solution hasn't been found yet.
Menu bar too large, floats.
In general, everything is too large and over padded.
The contrast of the default dark theme burned my eyes, but that's true of almost every dark theme.
I found that we can switch back to classic before messing any further with it. Non-Modern UI is one of the primary things that makes FA good.
Classic might not have a lot of bells and whistles but it doesn't need them.
It is simple to use and doesn't shove the art aside for a bunch of info that used to take up a quarter of the space
When something is good, it doesn't need to be fixed.
Glad to see it finally got an update since PS2 was a thing!
But could they put an option to block tags?
Well, seriously, when you search for something and always come across some fetish you don't like in the middle and such. (For example) it would be a good tag blocker, something like that FN did.
That would also imply people used tags to begin with, but thats another issue and conversation.
Though it seems to make typing sluggish for my tablet, and I can't seem to get my drop down menu without just being sent to my user page.
Still, yes, good.
1. Who are the new staff?
2. Will an API be built?
Its so hard to recognize comments of older commissions and why not sort for comments by date.
And there could be a drop down option for the shown projects in "STATS" view to show the comments when drop it down.
No changes to the site, Classic or Beta.
No new logo, nothing.
Are these features not rolled out to everyone or something?
Just some feedback, will you guys be adding in folder access and the mini-gallery to mobile eventually? Folders are great and the mini-gallery is very helpful for going through comics. Just some helpful features that are currently only on the desktop.
2. I saw that envelope briefly appear but before I could take note it was gone again, as that feature would have been my only complaint.
3. Small thing, not sure if intended: the watchers / being watched box is gone from only the mobile site version. Was this intentional? (Couldn't find it in the comments, just curious)
Other than that, keep being awesome!
Oh, and on mobile, at least on IOS devices, the download link will still open the submission and not open a download prompt.
The only downside is the gallery. Now you have to scroll down to click the next page. The only problem I have.
Cant even afford a buck a month.
I love the new design <3
Really caught me off guard
And the monetization plan is completely understandable! Gotta keep things going somehow, and I think it's a nice option. I would love to support, but sadly I can't. I'll have to continue being a freeloader :/
But anyway, thank you for your awesome work and dedication, and I hope to see FurAffinity go strong through this next decade as well <3
It honestly won't translate well at all on business cards and other sites use FA's logo when they ask for socials.
Next/Previous: Although there is a selection of pics on the right, there is no indication of which one is the next or previous ones.
Layout: Before, the picture that was being presented took up the entire width of the screen, but is now scrunched to the right. It was better when the search, picture, and response were stacked on top of each other.
Full ImageSize: The option to show the full size of the image was convenient, and is now missing.
Thank you for listening.
What I can not abide is a new version missing functionality that the old one had. So far, I see that hovering gallery and favorites on a user's page is missing - something that should have been expanded instead of removed - and the upload/fave times are also missing, which were useful to gauge how active an artist might be or how much they may have uploaded since you went to their page last.
It's so, so much worse now.
Font size, image size, layout, everything's worse.
Clicking a picture to change the view actually makes the picture look worse, and some simply fail to load either because of the site or the large image file. Sadly it seams a lot of the functions people liked were removed and a lot of pretty to look at fluff was added in place that hurts navigation over helps it.
When are we going to get things people have been asking for for years? And as of rn I'm not willing to support FA+ because the "rewards" are not worth it. A badge and no ads? I all ready see the site with 0 ads because of ad blocker.
Example I have toy house premium because of the mass upload/edit/sort/tag feature. and the forum/character term search. Something like the ability to block content with x or y tag, change name,or up/down vote comments would be something somewhat worth subscribing to.
Also I gotta say that general look of the UI design, well isn't the best , kinda reminds me of some old time forums, nothing modern like.
I also agree with some comments above that new logo isn't really a logo-like. It's more like avatar then logo.
the submission/journal/fav/etc letters next to the user avatar could be a different colour to really make them pop and feel less muddled, I really like the bold yellow some text has in the 'slate' setting, so if just the letters were that colour i feel like it'd make it look really nice~
Plus, I use those source links all the time to give easy viewing of reference images for artists to go off of without having to download anything. From my experience so far the new system with the download button seems counterintuitive and inconvenient.
One more note, to work around this new system and still be able to provide artist with source links I'd usually copy the full-size image and and paste it into Discord so I didn't have to bother with downloading it to get a link, but this new system also prevents that.
The "Account Personalization" setting (which lets you select and thus try out the new themes) is under the "Account Settings" and thus needs my password every time. Could it be moved to the "Site Settings" instead, please?
Also, the "Modern - Light" theme (the only one not being black-on-black everywhere) still has some quirks, with too much black around. For example in the submission view the border around images are thick full-black bars instead of the lighter color of the rest of the page. Also on the homepage, where the images have on-hover-texts, those text colors are dark-gray-on-black and very hard to read. It would be nice if those could be improved.
Lastly, I heavily used the mini gallery below individual submissions, looking at a couple of prev/next images to skip through a gallery w/o going from the overview pages. This has unfortunately been replaced by a bland looking "more from this artist" block of images. For now they appear to be still the prev/next three images, but make this (and the ordering) way less clear - and from the visual look of the UI it feels like "some random 6 images". I'd appreciate if that could be slightly improved to make it clearer again for navigation, less as "random images".
Thanks.
I couldn't even scoll down to the security options
It's bulky, dificult to navigate has a ton of features I don't want, nor need. (Fair enough that's just a personal prefference as I'm sure you and many others do want them.)
And what do you mean by "cleaner"? Not trying to be mean, but my cat's litterbox has less clutter than that mess I found New Years night. I want something that Works well, not just looks cool.
And I personally find it very ugly. Everything is way too big (And I'm on a laptop with a 18inch screen, so that's saying something). Call me a old timer or whatever, but even DA was cleaner than what I see on my device with the new "Beta".
Sorry, I want to give it a fair shot, but I'm sticking with Classic.
Admittedly it does look better on my Surface, but my previous comments about the mess still apply. Very... "boxy". Also, no Next and Previous buttons in the Galleries? Why are they trying to turn FA into DA? I link people to FA from DA because of how incredibly dificult it is to find things posted in order there.
I want to say otherwise, but still, no thank you.
DA, take notes! Do what your consumers like!
-After clicking on a picture, in a gallery, **to be able to go prev/next image**.
Can we view our gallery folders on mobile? I'm kinda itching to rearrange the gallery so I can be fresh for the new year, but you can't see folders on mobile, just the whole gallery. (I could just do it at home, but I'm bored af at work right now)
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/34447379
I nerd the button next and back please
Thank you guys so much for your hard work, and from protecting it from hacks. Hope this new decade brings something new and amazing to you and the fandom
Edit: Even then, though, it still freezes for a while, with blank parts of the screen, when loading pages, spending a lot more time than necessary loading fonts…
No next or back function for images so I take more steps getting to the next or previous pictures in galleries. The Gallery link is unclear now it's integrated into just the name at the right side with the suggestion images.
The tooltip for images no longer works. Used to hover over it to see part of the description for the image.
The direct link at the top for comments-journals-favourites doesn't quite take to the right selection (clicking the numberJ bit doesn't take to the Journals section.
I do like account and gallery settings aren't just in drop-down menus anymore and the remaining menu is now one single menu.
I like Edit Profile is now at the profile page.
I would assume that certain functions will return or in a better form.
I noticed one thing that might need a revision: "See more from [username]" is no longer clickable, so there's no direct way to visit somebody's gallery while viewing their submission. This was possible back in Beta as far as I can remember. "Previous" & "Next" buttons would be dope too :D
But, you know, instead of spending time changing the looks around, why not add some features for the first time in a decade or so? it's 2020, the current year! XD
The one I miss most on my day to day use of the side would be a very simple one, adding a "nuke the current site only" button to your watched images page
The one I could use but would be way more work is having a working API. I'm a dev myself and made quite a few pieces of software that interact with FA, like a note organizer because the notes lack a proper search function, or a crossposter that nobody uses. Having an API instead of having to parse the HTML would be lovely. Of course, no furry site has an API to speak of (some have attempts at one but they don't even let you upload images through it)
Love the new look, and looking forward to further improvements. Experiencing a bit of input lag, but I can suspect that is to be expected. Thank you all!
I hope for the FA+, we can have username changes (can limit it to once every 6 months or something)
R.I.P. old UI. You will be missed.
happy new year, everyone!
Happy new year btw!
Is it possible to move the toolbar/gallery folders to the left?
The fact that you guys are only 'considering it' is kind of worrying. You guys should really be up front about what you're fully planning for the site and get input on what will actually make it better. It's one of the biggest complaints about the site.
Jokes aside, it looks fine, and I'm glad there is finally a mobile site.
I'm also rather glad that with FA+ you don't seem to mention the word "donate" anywhere. Far too often do I see these "subscribe for awesome perks" things referred to as "donations", and I find that to be pretty dishonest since a donation expects no reward.
THERE IS NO GALLERY FOLDERS OPTION ON MOBILE!!
1) I can no longer tell how many submissions a user has made, unless I scroll through all the way to the last page in their gallery. The previous design told me how many submissions they'd made on every submission page. I see no such thing on the new submission pages.
2) On the Submission Notifications list, I can no longer find "select all", "invert selection" or "remove selected" without scrolling to the bottom of the page. Not a huge problem, but I didn't need to do this on the previous UI and it's big-enough to be an annoyance.
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/34459933/
But I'm glad FA got a update to it's layout because the old interlace looked outdated it was about time it needed one even though it will probably take a little bit of time for me to get used to.
i'm not a person who discriminate but sometimes i find some utterly disgusting fetishes of some searchs, also many of them appear in "relevant" first search
I used to be able to see the specific numbers as soon as I loaded the page, which is usually how I checked to see if I'd gotten any comments or watches, now I have to mouse over the numbers to see an actual change.
I suppose it's more "modern" but it's much less functional, as far as I'm concerned. If there's a way I'm not seeing to switch it back to just giving me the straight numbers without decimals, rounding, and "k" I'd be glad to know it.
I know it may be a small thing but it was something that made flicking through someone's gallery (especially when readying comics) much easier to do and feels weird not being there, please bring it back.
Too bad. I really did like the design of the old site setup. It worked well.
Never understood why people can't just make these things optional. I mean, if it already worked, what're you risking by leaving people the option?
-Mouseover previews and the information that comes with them (username, submission/fave timestamp) are not present
-On submission pages, it is much harder to see the submission's folder membership. On the classic theme, an extra element is present if the piece has been added to any gallery folders.
-Only one large thumbnail per profile gallery preview, given to the featured submission
-Search results layout not as good as on classic
I don't use FA on a mobile device, but it looks like mobile users are missing way more features than just the above.
Blacklist would be much appreciated, but the old level of functionality is more important to me.
I'm a bit of an unusual case, I've coded tools for my personal use that depend on the HTML and xpathing of the old layout, and will continue to use that.
Viewing an image no longer has the handy Next - Previous navigation for images within a gallery. There is the new "See More" section, but I liked being able to browse an artist's gallery, image by image.
Would you please bring back that functionality, whether replacing or in addition to "See More"?
Thanks for your consideration.

and there you go!
Thank you and happy new year!
You don't even have to enforce it. We know you don't care enough to effectively moderate this site. Just having it so we can filter some results would be better than nothing
I searched 3D, it said "There are no search results for your query."
I'm assuming it means the search string is to short. It would be good for it to say that. :)
Also, perhaps deactivated accounts should have something else than ~ before the name so it's easy to spot?
I do hope "not being updated" doesn't mean "won't be maintained" if something breaks...
Still, if the shiny magic is implemented, but the classic, un-improved style can still be used (watch images, click favorite, add comments etc in a plain submit text box), then I'll remain a happy user.
1) -After clicking on a picture, in a gallery, **to be able to go prev/next image**.
2) -Looking through the 'submission notifications' : When we click on one of the images/have already seen one of the images, the thing's name would change color/darken. I really want that back along Point 1).
Otherwise, it's looooong, laborious and frustrating to look through them all.
A lot.
Please.
If we still have time to finish playing our flash game RPG's then that's nice when will it exactly end in 2020? like December?
Site-layout
Template: Classic
But one of my favorite features in the old UI was being able to see the next three images before or after posting in the user's gallery from the current work page, but with the sidebar it's not so simple anymore. And given that some of my favorite series are often two, three or more images out from each other, it's a bit hard to navigate without going into the galleries.
P.S i think the descriptions are broken, can't click to see description even though that was a useful feature : (
I blame mobiles for ruining the internet like that (although websites owners must also be blamed for pandering to tham that way).
Introduce a new catergory, 'Fanart', with the subcatergories - Pokemon, Digimon, My little Pony/Brony, Sonic and Fanart (Other).
I also have a few suggestions for the 'Species' menu:
1. Add elephants
2. Move Panda to the 'Bears & Ursines' section
3. Move Raccoon, Red Panda and Wolverine to the 'Mustelids' section.
4. Move Dinosaur to the 'Reptilian' section.
5. Move Gryphon and Phoenix to the 'Exotic & Mythicals' section.
will there be a replacement?
Quick question, where did the Next/Previous icons go in the gallery? "Submission Gallery Navigation"has selections of either using the Minigallery or the Next / Prev Links, but neither seems to work.
EDIT: Okay, you can actually keep the old UI, sort of; that is appreciated. There are two separate dropdowns you need to use to switch.
The previous/next thumbnails on images will also greatly be missed (not fond of what "replaced" it, the DA-esque random selection of images on the right), as will the "hover thumbnail in artist's recent pictures" feature.
Please don't let this end up like DA, where everyone uses the old UI until it's deleted...
Now sequences are broken unless the author added a prev/next button
Could this be restored in the new UI too?
New interface so far for me is = more click & hovering, basically slower experience than the classic
I don't mind a change if the new UI was quite ready for all devices, easier & faster to use too, i personally love the colors, but the new UI felt slightly a little downgrade in terms of functionality & easier experience, it's slower
i have given each theme for the modern look a day to see how well it will function and i'm slightly disappointed so i switched back to classic for the time been
I think the new UI was rushed to the fact that it got released on new year right away but i still hope it will improve over time, as for FA+ i can see h so i will wait till it has actual features, so i hope it can be better than eclipse (which i'm not a fan of either)
But other than that, the updated look looks great imo!

Does anyone know who drew it?
Otherwise I'm happy with the update and look forward to upcoming features.
Oh and because I was just looking for it, we need new chat emojis! But this time in furry style please.
My main problem is to sort the search criteria by popularity. I do not know what value you take for it but for me this sorting does not work at all, the sorting seems very random.
In my opinion the pictures in this mode should first be sorted by most favorites and then most views.
In the past, this sorting might not have made so much sense because older pictures that had more time to collect favorites were always on top, but now that the great function is there to limit the search in a period, the sorting according to favorites makes more sense in my opinion ,
But i would rather wish to add separate search criteria for "most views" and "most favorites". That would be great!
Sorting by relevancy doesn't work well in my opinion either.
The search usually differs only slightly from that for popularity.
In this mode you actually want to find the most relevant results for the search term.
The sorting should somehow ensure that popular images with the search term in the title, description and tag are at the top and the unpopular ones with the search term only in the description at the bottom.
As it is now, I rarely find what I'm looking for.
I'm not a professional when it comes to search engines, but yours certainly needs an improvement.
i hope i could give a little constructive criticism.
what i still haven't found, is where, if it exists at all in this u.i.,
can i find the new uploads and journals of those i watch.
it is the loss of the two principal features, for which i had become used to checking this site every day. these being the new uploads and journals from those one my watch list.
where the blinkin explative did they go? why are they hidden. are they being held hostage for blackmale? or what?
You guys completely removed the thumbnail system which really killed the flow of new people browsing my art work.
(The next and previous art work previously seen)
The desk top has a side bar that shows some of my random art work but doesn't even use my hand made thumbnails. And for mobile it just has nothing.

Not sure if Sad is that or the colon, dash, start parentheses, but I believe so.
Happy is colon, dash, end parentheses.
I assume Wink is semicolon, dash, end parentheses.
I think something that was like Whatever before it became a kittyface is colon, dash, forward slash.
The tongue one I think is colon, dash, capital P.
I hope this helps! (I don't know if Yak has a journal that lists them all. They do have one up for format BB coding, however.)
Sarcasm or Sarcastic is the one that was like Whatever before it changed.
I was trying to be helpful to you, but . Fyi, "furry" emojis had been mentioned quite awhile back as part of a wishlist for the eventual site upgrade. But I imagine since they made everything bigger, and sidebars are the new thing, something had to go away.
My biggest complaint about the new interface broke the download button. I am really upset with the changes to how it works. If I want to view an image at a bigger resolution, I can click the full view button yes, but more often than not, the image won't fit on my monitor. What I USED to do to fix this was hit download, which would open just the image at a higher resolution, but cropped to fit my monitor. It makes the viewing experience a lot better, especially for weirdly shaped images or comic pages. It was INCREDIBLY useful for flash/html submissions. If I want to view an animation but the resolution goes off my monitor or is at a weird dimension, I'm just screwed now. I don't want to download the flash/html file, I want to just view it in a way that fits cleanly on my screen like I used to. The new changes completely breaks this for me and makes viewing images and animations MUCH harder than it used to be, which is a BIG problem.
So yeah not a big fan. I understand that the download button does what it probably should do now, i mean it does now download and save the file, but if i just wanna view it in a new tab at a new resolution, I have to do it manually for images, or not at all for flash/html files. It's really not great. If there could be a view function that worked like the download button used to, that would be great. As of right now, certain flash files are unwatchable, and having to do extra clicks for something i used to be able to do in one is just annoying.
Edit: On mobile it was nice having the old download, because it opened the image and nothing else was having to load/reload, unlike full screen. This saved valuable mobile resources, which aren't as robust as PC.
Can you make it so the title of images I've already clicked on in my submission pool have their title text turn purple. That's one feature I miss since the update to the UI.
Sometimes I forget to delete submissions that I've already viewed. It would be nice to have that visual cue back that tells me I've already viewed a submission.
Thanks.

Love the new UI. It feels a lot more modern and it doesn't change the way things feel and work, unlike recent UI changes to other large artist community websites.
PS. I'm having an issue where when I click on the button in lower right corner of an image in the search pages the words no longer appear in a box, but in a column at the bottom of the page.
Also "comment removed by user" also shows up again. I could have sworn that was fixed before this update as well.
Nothing serious, just minor things I thought were remedied some months back. I am sure I remember noticing my watcher count in notifications went down one, as did comments (which doesn't happen when the notification about the removal replaced it).
C'mon, such a simple thing and nobody has any god damn answers about who did it or when a credit can be put up.
