10 out of 20 journals in my message list were "Happy new year" greetings. So i think, there were enough of them.

But always keep in mind, that new laws become operative and since politicians are a...holes, they not really do it for YOUR best.
A lot of stuff happend in the past on January 1st. Wikipedia has a long list.
Many people will marry in 2020 (Feb. 20. or Feb. 02,) and will divorce in 5 years or so.
This year has 366 days, so we all have to work one day for free.
