Hello dear FA,
It's been a while. I can't tell you how many times I wanted to write a journal here but life has been so incredibly painful and difficult for me. I took some time to finally write it all down and you can find the full update on my recent years including my health and plans for the future and how I am doing now. It is a bit of a long read.
CW: slight suicidal thoughts / mention of needles and medical procedures (not graphically but still)

I really miss being able to be active here, I met so many dear people and the community has always been warm and welcome and I've been lucky to experience it. I'm so thankful for all the memories I have made here and the wonderful artists who have inspired me, and those who became my dear friends <3
For the time being I don't see myself being as active here anymore, I want to be but as explained in my journal I just can't do commissions at the rate I used to anymore due to previous wrist injuries and health.
I want to focus on my own work this year, and will be doing commissions in a limited way and will probably be hosting those on my twitter page: https://twitter.com/aprilovebird
I will be around, but if you want to keep in touch with me or my work, my twitter is the best option. I want to thank all of you who have supported me and my art in any way, down to the smallest gestures, your comments, donations, financial support, I will forever be grateful for it <3 I sincerely mean this as I know I grew so much here in my art. I enjoyed being able to make people happy with my work, it was the best feeling <3 i can't wait to get back into things, just again at my cautious pace.
If you wish to continue to support me I will be working on getting my Patreon going which you can find via my twitter. I want to focus on making my own artwork, and eventually a series of children's books I've been planning for years. It would mean the world to me once I am able to share more with you all <3 I can't wait <3
all my love,
April

(I will be doing commissions via twitter from the time being, thank you for understanding <3)

You’re too sweet...I’m not even sure what to say, hdlsjskdjdk i love you SO much and I’m thankful to see you <3
I myself just got 2 of my wisdom teeth out mid-January, along with a third tooth that was infected and causing pain to go up my jaw into my ear, for which the pain was so bad I was popping 2 ibuprofen 3-4 times a day. Thankfully though when I got the 3 teeth extracted, 80-90% of my pain was gone after the first week (including from the extraction itself). Surprisingly the pain from my infection was worse than the post-extraction pain, but I had the narcotics they prescribed too.. I can't imagine how bad it'd feel without the pain meds. I can also relate with the periods somewhat, but that's only because I got an IUD last year and since then my periods doubled in length (normally ~5 days, now they're 10-12 days long, and I have short cycles around 25 days so basically almost 2 weeks of period, then 2-3 weeks off, then on again) with awful cramps that leave me wanting to curl up and reaching for ibuprofen.
However, before I go too far off track-- I don't want to talk about my own stuff too much. This is about you. c:
My main advice is to work on bettering yourself, but also try to find the fun in taking care of yourself, or find a way to make it fun/interesting. There is absolutely nothing wrong with taking time off from commissions to work on being healthier. I'm personally working on trying to lose weight myself, but primarily with a focus on just eating better. (I'm down 10 pounds since the new year!) Losing weight + a better diet clears up so many issues we have with our bodies, especially related to digestion and pain, surprisingly.
Obviously I can't speak for everyone but something as simple as avoiding wheat has helped tremendously with my fibromyalgia and IBS digestion problems. I'm not perfect; I do still eat wheat from time to time, but I try not to overdo it because I know my body doesn't process it well for some reason?? If you haven't already, an idea is to keep a food journal and see if certain foods are triggers that make you feel worse when you eat them, although I know the ulcer is going to really limit what you can eat for the time being either way. :c
No matter what I wish you the best and do try to find little ways to have fun with being healthier, like finding recipes to try that fit within your diet and whatnot. <3
I have been putting off wheat among other foods bc yeah lordy they can be hard to digest, especially when one has problems ;; thank you kindly for your advice and I’ll be sure to do my best, wishing you the best as well! <3
