I would be patient. It might not be intentional so Maybe ask again if it's been a few days.

Sometimes I look at PMs when I'm about to do something and I forget to check back because of my ADHD. I've had a few times where people asking about commissions had to poke me a week later. I try to more or less keep on top of things once we come to an agreement thanks to my CRM, but because I'm so booked, sometimes interest checks can fall into the cracks. But that's just me, and I like giving benefit of the doubt.

As far as being blocked for asking, that's pretty lame, I wouldn't do that unless someone sent up some major illegality red flags but thats pretty much unheard of.

I'm giving the benefit of the doubt, but my expectations are pretty low. I understand where you're coming from, but I've message this person before and they have replied back a couple times. But ultimately in the end, it got nowhere in terms of getting art.

Yeah it's really lame. I've had a friend told me he got blocked from artists before. I asked why and he just said that certain artists gets millions of messages from people asking for commissions and eventually the artists just snaps and starts blocking; posting in journal that they're disabling notes.

Because they're snobs. Unfortunately when some people are becoming popular they're also becoming very snobby, thinking that they're better than other people and some of the people aren't worth of their attention.

I've met a few artists doing that. There's not much you can do. Just don't try to commission them again. If you even manage to get an answer from them and they agree to draw your commission there's a huge chance that they'll do it very poorly and sloppy, not doing it as you want.

I really hope that's not the case, but its very possible.
Once they get popular, they think they're too special for certain people.

Yeah that's why I try not to pester artists about how much longer till they're open for commissions.
I know it sometimes bothers them as much as they insist that it doesn't.

The only downer i had with an artist was a few years ago.
Asked about a slot, told hm my idea, what i want,
took me on the list, waited a loooong time, only to get the message it wont work at all.
Cause of other works and such that took his/her time.
But for my luck, there wasnt any mony involved in that waiting time.

Sorry you experienced that. The waiting time can be annoying too when it becomes too long.

I've gotten friends waiting on their commissions. The waiting time was taking too long while the artist themselves were posting YCHs and taking in more commissions while my friends wait to get theirs done.

Well it happens.
And yes, kinda sucks if you have to wait but the artists offers more and more slots or YCHs.
Worst case is then they get the comissions last, but wasnt last on the list.
Havent seen it before, such cases, but i hope it wont happend.

On my end, i can wait. just want a message or at least something that makes sure i get what i want in this time, or so.

I know that some artists doesnt like it to get poked all the time with questions, when the comission is finished.

But if it ends to get ignored, or you want something again and he doesnt reply then... hmhm sucks hard.

it's a little thing called "ego". this fandom is really bad with popular artists ignoring or even straight up refusing to accept commissions from certain people simply because they consider them "inferior"

And to think we're suppose to be a tight-knit community. But of course there will always be bad eggs within every fandom unfortunately.

Certain artists, especially the popular ones, are rarely available. They're usually high in demand so it's almost impossible to get commissions from them unless you have big pockets to spend and know exactly when they're open. A lot of them don't really announce in advance when exactly they'll open. Just announcing it right on the spot, so it's first come first serve type of deal unfortunately.

And yeah it sucks that a lot of the artists are doing YCHs, but that's ultimately their choice in the matter. Just need to find artists with a smaller following with a decent reputation and you'll have a better chance to get commissions.

If it's the first time, it might be possible that the artist thought they responded to you after clicking on your post and missed it! I've DEFINITELY had this problem before with emails, both from me and from the people I'm corresponding with! It's usually best to give them the benefit of the doubt. And/or take your business elsewhere! xD

Also, I've never heard of people getting blocked from asking! That sounds pretty ridiculous. If anyone does that, they're shooting themselves in the foot!

An important thing to remember is the majority of artists are not in fact professionals, and are just hobbyists. No matter the skill, they are not people running a business, they’re people selling a skill they know there is a market for. As such, business with them is more or less at their leisure. Ive commissioned artists who have done the exact opposite of what I asked for and said it was their ‘style’. They might be able to draw one thing well, but ask them to stray from their comfort zone and they can’t do what you ask. And those who are professional...well, it’s a niche subculture. Nothings to say that ego doesn’t get to people’s heads now and then.

If you’re looking for reasonable priced commissions, I know a few folks.

I understand and am aware of what you're saying, but they're still providing a service that needs to retain some form of professionalism to a degree. Regardless if its just a hobby for them, they're getting paid from people who support their art.

I'll shoot you one later :) (A list, I mean). And yes...they should have some form of professionalism, but it's a little alarming at how many do not. I had a picture drawn that was absolutely not what I wanted and the artist refused to fix it, even though the art didn't adhere to their T.O.S, as they never gave me a sketch per their process. Then the idiot posted a butthurt rant about how I tried to steal his money, had some random idiots harass me (Not like F.A. staff ever does anything). Too many stories to count.

Sounds good o3o. And yeah I had a similar experience where I commissioned an artist and they did such a piss poor job of it that it left me speechless when I first saw it because it looked nothing like what I wanted. And when I try to contact them for them to change what I want fixed, they went completely silent on me. Good thing the commission was cheap, otherwise I would of been livid if it was a pricey commission. But yeah, sorry you went through that.

column A and column B, ive waited on a waiting list for two years with one artist and turned around and had another artist send me the sketch work on paper from their home over seas. some artists are very robotic, some are aloof. no matter the case, dont take it personally, Texy is a crush-worthy piece of tail as are the other OCs ive seen you with. i really wouldn't take it to heart, things is how they be.

Also, i think it would be stellar for you, Mims and myself to get something done together. i like suggestive art myself as opposed to straight up lewds.
