oh man that sucks, that's 2nd most expensive one I think if you count the overhead projector version too. kind of makes me re-evaluate whether or not I want one, my intuous has worked for like 10 years straight minus the frayed cord extending from the base of the device
...you should be able to order a cheap chinese tablet fairly easily - assuming that packages from there haven't been banned from international transport
I never liked the 27QHD (though that is one of my monitors). Most of the users that I deployed it to returned it -- it's actually TOO big to be practical. The 22HD hit that sweet spot.
(Also, it's a ridiculously bright monitor, the remote is easily lost, etcetc)
I guess to each it's own, I have it for years now, it's my main tablet in my studio, it is massive, ut I never use it to move around lol, never lost the remote either.. :P It is very bright but then you do know you can tune it down, like any other monitor :)

Chinesium expedited obsolescence has become way too predictable.
