Writers NEED comments.
Tell writers what you think, even if you hate it. You know what would have been weird? Living in the age right after personal names became a thing. The words would still be more associated with their original meaning than with what you call a person. It must have been like:
"Good morning, Looks-Sort-of-Like-A Puma-But-Isn't."
"And to you, Born-Under-the-Old-Tree-On-the-Edge-of-Town. Have you seen Fell-Into-a-Mud-Puddle today?"
"Yes, she was hanging out with Those-Flowers-That-Grow-By-The-River an hour ago."

todays “modern” names usually have meanings behind them still, but they are mostly just overlooked
i wonder if the reason we did away with those descriptive names was due to higher community populations?
or did every culture have names like that to begin with?
names are a strange and fascinating concept :0!!
