Hi everyone, how's it going? Hope you're all good.
I wanted to give some light about the current virus epidemic that is all over the world.
First of all, all the updated information on the numbers can be found here but I'll explain it so that we can easily understand why has it spread so quickly.
So this is a virus, the reason why I state this is because antibiotics doesn't work at all, so please don't use them if you have them at home. Why it wouldn't work is the same reason as to why can't you cause bleeding on a skeleton, cuz they are not alive. The long answer is that antibiotics work on biological structures on the bacteria, and only on the bacteria, and if they act on human cells it's in a low proportion. Virus aren't cells and don't really have structures that can be attacked, they replicate inside human cells, so that's the main reason. And yes, there are bacteria which hide in cells, but they still use their own systems to replicate.
With that out of the way, how does it spread? The patient zero was infected from a different species, I don't know which animal it was but it's a jump from a different species to the human. This is important cuz the virus could never before access the human body and that means that we have no defenses against it. Interespecific jumps can't be foreseen unfortunately, but they can be prevented by having some good sanitary conditions, this goes for the markets, where its supposed to be the origin of the breakout, where animals are alive and are sold without any control from the authorities.
Now actually answering to the question, it doesn't spread through the air, wearing a mask wont protect you from getting infected. It spreads through saliva, and that is what makes things so complicated and easy to spread. Right now we all touch a bunch of stuff: money, bags, our phone, someone else's hand... so we can perfectly get infected in the train where no one is sneezing, just cuz someone who's done that has touched the same bare you're holding on.
So what should we do? My country established quarantine for students, which just means no school, but this measure is not efficient at all. The best we can do is wash our hands frequently and use antiseptic if possible, but this last one is not absolutely necessary. About medical attention, it depends on the country so I won't get into details, but if you suffer any of the symptoms try to see a doctor or just do quarantine on your own, although I doubt this last thing is available cuz getting away from work might need some medical justification. Keep your distances if possible, the more distance the less risk, but that doesn't mean that you can't have contact with people, just be safe.
And I guess that's pretty much everything. Sorry to all of my followers for not uploading anything this past month, school has been a blast and I've been somewhat centered into my studies, will try to upload something at some point. As for the rest of you, hope all this info has been useful and the alert level has decreased. If there's anything wrong or I just slipped my mind at some point be polite when mentioning in the comments.
Stay calm and stay happy

OP
Don't be alarmed, it's just like a normal flu. It only gets complicated with severe respiratory diseases.
