The mortality rate is low for young people, but it gets much higher for the elderly and people with certain pre-existing chronic conditions such as asthma. The main gravity isn't how deadly it is per se, but the fact young people can infected people from the risk group, and it also spreads fast and there's no healthcare system in the world that can take care of so many infected at the same time, causing an inevitable collapse of the system like what's happening in Italy.

Of course, people shouldn't panic, but it's not something to be underestimated either.
