I'm so bummed that Furlandia is almost certainly going to be canceled... this was gonna be MY YEAR, man. :(

Really sucks for you to lose out on the panel opportunity! Something like that could be a great way to advertise your work. Good luck on the adoptables, though! From what I've heard, those are weirdly hard to break into but they seem to be extremely profitable if you manage to crack the secret to them.

From what I gather, the conventions prefer to wait until the state officially extends its ban on large gatherings or whatever to the date of the con because that that gives them an out on contracts that would otherwise be extremely expensive to break, or something like that. I'm sympathetic to where they're coming from... it's gotta be very stressful to have so much money tied up in something that makes runs on narrow financial margins to begin with. Certainly frustrating and confusing to attendees and vendors who might be traveling in from far away, though. I'm lucky that that isn't a concern for me in this case.

Totally feel ya on "I picked a really good year to get my shit together", hah. The timing almost feels comedic. Well... maybe next year... I guess!

Ahh yeah I did read that bein the case. It's not a long travel for me in particular and in general I'm waiting on seeing what happens, but at this point unless the con gets delayed/cancelled I'd just plain feel unsafe and irresponsible goin DHDJFJFJFJ so p much... holdin out for Maybe anthronorthwest or just. next year

I feel like even if a convention didn't cancel/reschedule, they'd probably have so many vendors, panelists, and attendees pulling out that they'd have to cancel regardless. I can't imagine sales would be good with so many people staying home and/or out of work. Not to mention all the bad publicity a risky move like that would get on twitter. So I'm not super worried, I expect they'll make the right decision when the time comes.

I am hoping that cons later in the year might still be able to go off. Seems like everything is so uncertain right now. But I'm also prepared to just wait for next year, like you said.
