One of the worst parts about the whole social distancing thing is when you fall into the routine of staying at home and doing nothing it actually feels harder to perform self-maintenance.
Apathy and malaise are some of our own worst enemies.
Fortunately brushing my teeth is easy to remember to do because it really does feel uncomfortable to me to NOT clean them regularly but as for the rest... I mean … ugh.
Sure when my hair starts feeling itchy and greasy I'll resort to washing it in the bathroom sink and while refreshing that only takes you so far. As for the rest of me I keep thinking "It's too early to shower" or "It's too late to shower" or whatever.
I actually had to force myself to get in the stall and give myself the hard scrubbing I really should have done at the beginning of all of this.
I won't go into detail but lemmie just say this, when the soap foam is a grayish color you KNOW you left it too long.
It reminds me of something my mom once said. "Some days you wish you had someone to put you under the water and scrub you down for you."
So people let me remind you, in these times of Social Distancing and Self-Quarantine do NOT let that be an excuse to let your own hygenic standards lapse.
You're better off keeping yourself washed and clean on a regular schedule.
If nothing else it will give you something to do.
