Recommend me video games...
Hi all!
Commissions are still open - https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/9466022/
But, in the meantime -
I am in a video game rut and I don't know what to play next. I think I want to play an MMO? But I haven't played one since my DDO days (I miss those days...) and I know it's hard to play online games without having friends to play with and I kind of hate playing with random people if I don't know them and especially if it's a new game and I'm still figuring stuff out. So a chill MMO or at least a less toxic one would be cool.
THINGS I LIKE TO PLAY ALREADY -
Grim Dawn/ARPGS in general (please don't recommend POE though, I can't get into it and I don't know why. I have tried)
Divine Divinity/Divinity Original Sin 2 (pretty much perfect games)
Terraria (played since launch, Journey's End is still a month away though)
Starbound
Stardew Valley (because come on)
On that note, Rune Factory 4 - omg I love it. I CHECK MY SOIL STATS
Monster Hunter World - But I play in marathon bursts and then take a month off
Pretty much anything by Spiderweb Software (because I am old, and I used to get pc magazines with game demos on CDs)
Fire Emblem Awakenings
Ghost Trick (I didn't play much of it but it was cool and fun. Hmm maybe I should play it again)
THINGS ON MY WISHLIST THAT LOOK INTERESTING??
Underrail
Final Fantasy XIV Online (should I play it?????)
Graveyard Keeper
Atelier games - but apparently I need a game pad, I ordered one but it was stolen
Greedfall
Disco Elysium
Baldur's Gate 3 (WHEN IT COMES OUT I WILL BUY IT)
Fantasy Life
Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale
I mostly play PC games because I have a PC. I own an xbox, I got it on a whim but I have no games for it that I like? What was I thinking? I also have a 3DS and I love it and I hoard games for it. I wanted a switch for a long time but kept putting it off and now I can't get one - darn I really wanted to play the remastered RF4 and also FE:Three Houses. GRRR
What are you playing currently, or what can you recommend? It's ok if it's completely offbase from what I have listed above! Sometimes I dismiss games because I don't know enough about them and find out later that they are cool (like Monster Hunter World - all my friends raved about it at launch, I was completely uninterested, and I got it a year later, and it was my fave game for a while!)
My DREAM game of course is a game where I do nothing but forage for ingredients and craft them and sell them in my lovely store, and have to upgrade my store, and maintain a garden, and also date villagers, but until Witchbrook is released RF4 will have to fill the void....

TF2?
Ori and th Blind Forest?
Ori and the Will of the Wisps?
Transistor?
Creativerse?
I was never terribly interested in TF2 outside of the memes because I spent so much time playing Unreal Tournament in college that I started to get dizzy/sick and shooters never held appeal for me after that, haha! But I guess I could check it out.
Theres also Child of Light. BEAUTIFUL soundtrack
It's an open-world game with pretty good AI, lots of quests, battles and game modes (RPG, TBS, RTS, text quests, arcade) and a lot of freedom to enjoy.
Freedom Planet - old School platformer , like Sonic and Rocket Knight had a baby
Shantae ( all of them ) - more old school platformer
7 Days to Die - Zombie horde survival / crafting ... like if Minecraft was an RPG in a Zombie wastland, good multiplayer game
Only MMO I can recommend is Warframe ~ because I'm not into Tera style MMOs and those seems to be the vast majority of the ones I've tried
Kenshi.
Darkest Dungeon.
GZdoom mods (Russian Overkill, Bloom, Reelism, Brutal Hexen RPG)
Road Redemption
Tesla vs. Lovecraft

Closest I can think of is "Voodoo Garden" and "Shoppe Keep"
Oh and if you don't mind F2P games on Steam and want a time waster to run in the background, Cadria Item Shop is good for what it is. And if you've never tried it, Soda Dungeon (waiting on Soda Dungeon 2 ever so impatiently.) Beyond that, you seem to already be playing all the games I'd suggest.
Hrmmm, maybe give Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire a retry? I just noticed they've got a turn-based system in place now I'm eager to give it a shot. Also maybe the Outer Worlds as well as Children of Morta as they've both got some amazing storytelling chops and you can snag them through Xbox Gamepass.
Children of Morta is on my wishlist, I have had bad luck with roguelikes in the past but I think it looks cool.
I did see Cadria Item Shop, I had heard that it was a reskin of Shop Titans but I couldn't find any other reviews on it. But it looks very cute!
I have never played an Animal Crossing game, but do you think New Leaf would be worth playing in the interim?
Cadria Item Shop is a lot like Shop Titans with a more JRPG feel, but it does a few things differently that I enjoyed. Also, while it's most definitely a F2P that's practically begging for your cash, I never encountered any craftsman or aspect of the game that was 100% hidden behind a paywall, unlike with Shop Titan (which is why I eventually gave up on that title.)
And I wish I knew. New Horizon is my first Animal Crossing game so I have no idea how they compare. I do know that I play 2-4 hours a day, religiously, before handing it over to my sister who plays... let's just say, whole lot more. ^^;;
I was gonna recommend Divinity: Original Sin 2 but you got that covered.
