Your profession
If you remember I asked you what is your profession 4 years ago ( damn, how fast time is going)
What had changed for these 4 years? New profession? New job? Something good happend? Or just any good changes.
It was very interesting to find a little bit more about you.

Debating my choice. Has been tough, but I still enjoy it
Worked for it for about 7 years now. I love the work. I love the people. Being apart of concerts. And big events is a passion since i did so much technical theater work in school.
The only down side, while i make 22$ an hour....i am on call and have a nasty dry season where i only work once or twice a month.
I've considered another job...but idk what i would work for...
But I was once behind the scene, as a designer, it was cool feeling :)
Here is hoping i can get another job once this is up too.
Working in hotel interiorism :>
I bet hotel renovations have pretty tight deadlines to deal with much like commercial sector projects do.
Indeed my friend, but i really love to see the final results of all our hard work.
I work on Computers and Telephone systems right now at a large Air Station.
Semper Paratus!
Today: Tax Accountant!
In 2017 I finished studying biotechnology and started studying script writing.
In 2019 I started studying English - Spanish translations and I hope to finish my studies this year.
Currently unemployed and looking for a job.
They say money can't buy happiness... Sure as hell helps though.
Today co-owner and store manager of a recognized Cigar shop and learning to make cigars, hope to have my own brand soon.
Today a Welder/Fabricator
(we're open because we offer Take-out and delivery of food)
I'm currently, working to get into being an insurance agent (house, car, ect.) for a really good company that trains for the certificate.
Though they're not hiring at the moment cause of covid-19, but i have my foot in the door for when they start again.
i hope success has found you like it is trying to find me lmao <3
It's a rapidly-changing playing field though. I'm not sure if 4 years from now my job which is also my life's work will still mean anything with how Google is wrenching things into a complete monoculture.
At least the coronavirus hasn't seriously impacted anything. All of those involved do their work from home for it. It's (almost) business-as-usual.
Most work goes into the UXP platform it builds on which is a hard fork from Mozilla code, shared with other applications (Basilisk, Hyperbola's IceWeasel/IceApe/IceDove applications, Ambassador (IRC client), and Interlink (mail/news client) with some more planned). See also http://thereisonlyxul.org
Now I'm studying again, looking to do a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics.
The thing is, due to being on SSI, I can't make too much money or else they'll cut off funding.
back then: I was a vehicle cleaner for Enterprise Rent-A-Car. I absolutely hated that job and was often in an aggravated or depressed mood because No matter how hard I tried I couldn't find a replacement job.
Fast forward four years: Now (when there isn't a pandemic happening) I'm a VIP host at a casino and I love it! The guests can be kinda upsetting but that's pretty much anywhere you work. ^__^
is: a factory worker, with a woefully underutilized engineering degree
I also double as storesman and procurement, because we're a tiny site.
(I saw you're in Dispatch, what's that like?)
Man those technicians do a lot of work to keep our planes up and there are always issues. Some big, others tiny. Sounds like you get to do it all.
Yeah, there's a lot of variety for us, but it has it's down sides, we're mostly on training aircraft, so we don't have the budget we'd all like to have.
It comes with a lot of different experience though.

Freelance Automotive
Only new changes are new duties and my new manager treating us as highly disposable/expendable amidst this pandemic too. (Hospital staffer here.)

Furry projects help keep me sharp for industry stuff, and it's tons of fun to team up with folks in the fandom and give the fuzzy community something to enjoy ^w^
Let’s see when last you asked I had just started working in industrial dehydration, living in Idaho, and was very twinkish
Since then I’ve....changed jobs twice. I works for ABinBev the beer mega conglomerate, as an assistant maltster. And then got out of that. Moved to Oregon to work in the aerospace industry as a facility technician. I’ve gotten engaged. And put on close to 60lbs of muscle. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg
Hazardous Energy Control Technician at a Chemical Weapons Demilitarization Plant. Fun times! ^^
Now, I'm furloughed, but I had a full time job, much slower and steadier than before but at least secure. I also can be more open about my feelings, and am better about loving myself too. But, there's a slight malaise over everything - just a twinge - that gives me some "fuck it all" energy. So that's strange too.
Oh, and I would have never guessed four years ago that I would be living with my parents for a month. I would have thought I wanted to stay as far away from them as possible.
Currently, I work at a grocery store as a night clerk while attending university full-time. Unfortunately, even though I am suppose to be working only part-time hours, management consistently makes me work full-time. I don't complain (money is good, never know when you might need it). Plus, I get to shop after my shift 1-2 hours before the store opens. Grateful to be working tbh.
months back: warehouse worker on weekdays / tattoo apprentice on weekends
now: laid off from work. n for the 1st time of my life, I could finally find out if I can survive solely on art...scary.
Two months ago I got hired on by USPS; I'm likely going to stick with this job for a long time. It pays too well, even in a starting position.
As you can imagine there's no lack of work in a pandemic when in a ministry that also deals with health XD
tl;dr:
I went through a rollercoaster of ups, downs, and many jobs. Currently, I am finishing out my degree in Game Design and am hoping for a summer internship.
I work for the good of the motherland.
4 years ago my boyfriend amd i just started living together in this rented appartement. We bought ourselves an old house 2 years ago which we are living in and working on now.
We bought a dog 2 years ago, a golden retriever.
So yea, life has been good to me these last couple of years.
2 years ago I had a change of heart and started exploring other ideas. 1 year ago I both became a college student and dropped out of college the same year.
I ain't proud of it, it's somethin' shameful to me. But now I work at the IRS as a CSR. Pretty big change, from Systems Administration to "Customer Support."
Also 4 months ago I adopted my sweet husky Paloma, whom I've changed her perspective of people an given her real care and love, since she was otherwise scared and abused before.
Now: Java Developer. Quite a different field, but really enjoy the change :)
Worked on Ghost Recon and Just Dance.
I'm now back to doing art commissions for a living!
Now, I am a RN! I actually passed my boards my first go and have been working as a RN for a little over two years. ^^
RN = Registered Nurse
CNA is like the basic work, bathing and taking people to the bathroom, vital signs and things of that nature.
RN is more medication administration, dressing changes and things of that sort.
Now, working for a state university as prototype/manufacturing engineer, fix-all person for the Mechatronics Dept.
Just put my name on my first design patent. Upwards and onwards :}
Today TP-CI and we are thriving like you would not believe it. Best decision ever
laid offforced into retirement three years ago and blacklisted by the company, so I'm working as a security guard, just like I did 43 years ago. I've only seen my boss twice in three months. I only see the guard I relieve in the afternoon and the one who relieves me at midnight. I sit in my car and watch an access road. I can do anything I want, read, listen to music, write, whatever. And for this I got a 4-year degree.I was planning to get licensed to be a full fledged mechanic but lately I've pretty much been pushed into management which I'm not happy about. But, I figure I'm getting to the point in my life where I just need to take whatever career path comes my way before I languish anymore.
Whatever the case its a marked improvement over the 12 years I spent tormented in retail. Or the horrors (and flat out danger) I was exposed to in pest control.
Now, I'm a Quality Assurance Engineer in the USA. So, I write code to test everyone else's code. I love it <3
Interesting to see what everyone does for a living!
But like, frik man, even though I'm not making as much because I can't consistently draw, I am so very very glad I quit. Super better off not having to deal with that. I was even able to heal my arm because I could actually take breaks from using it. I am a little sad that I can't contribute to my home more, but I am at least able to contribute something.
Now if only this pandemic would go infect itself so I could get back to work that'd be great.
In theory I do research and data analysis, and administer the zoning code with the overall intent to ensure the city's growth is coordinated and orderly and furthers the community's vision for what we want the future built environment to reflect about our community's shared values and goals.
In practice, I spend a surprising amount of my time answering questions about fences and sheds. Also signs; don't get me started on signs...
We have some small amount of work right now but the virus is causing us to suffer. I worked the past two weeks thankfully but now I will be going on furlough again next week. X)
Today, O'Reilly's Auto parts delivery
Now I'm a blue-collar worker: a technician. Finally found a temp job after a few months of searching around and they sent me to a company that puts in fire alarm systems at hospitals (there are a lot of major hospitals where I live.) The money was awesome, I busted my behind for a few years and then...got fired because I was gay. Immediately found another job, and then another better job. Now I'm getting paid even more, working better hours with better people, being a full time employee with good benefits, and to top it all off with the virus outbreak all the hospitals really want their buildings to be finished and ready to receive a huge amount of patients at a moment's notice. If there is anything to complain about right now it would be having "too much" work.
Really didn't see this coming after going to college to be a software developer, but I honestly think it's probably just much better in the long run, too.
Looking for all automation and its operation in Utility Services , drinking water and sewage treatment.
Security Guard for a wallyworld, nothing like hearing "I'm/they're stealin!" about sixty times a night, and everyone that says it thinks they're so hilarious.
The switch to the startup was a positive move for me. Big bump in salary, but unfortunately it came at a terrible time. Started off as about a 100-110 minute round trip. A little rough. Then we got some major road construction that basically covered the entire distance, turned it into a two hour trip each way. That was bad enough. Had some situation with some investors disappearing unexpectedly. THey had to lay me off. It was on very positive terms though and everyone was bummed out about it. I was given a parting gift of some old and worn, if fery powerful shop tools including a benchtop belt sander and a laser engraver that I'm currently refurbishing. Had a helpdesk job fall into my lap thanks to another friend. That was around the end of 2018. I'm making good money, I genuinely enjoy my job now, I love my coworkers. It's... It's weird, not ever really truly being worried about money. It's nice, but it feels like I'm forgetting something 24/7. I have a reliable car now, and money and time to do good, solid maintenance on it. I no longer worry about how much time and money I'll lose out on taking a weekend off to go do something with friends, because now I have an actual schedule and I'm putting money into savings and a retirement. Never mind that my generation will probably never retire, especially not with where the stock market is headed. But it's nice to imagine the possibilities anyway.
I have another cat now. He's *really* special. Super affectionate, loads of personality, not a destructive or mean bone in his body.
I've finally had the time and energy, to some extent, to start focusing on my absolutely miserable health. Having resources and time to cook healthy meals does wonders for improving diet. Still finding it difficult to find the enrgy to exercise though, especially with as stupid as people are being in my community with the lack of adherence to social distancing guidelines.
Things are hardly perfect. But they're good.
Finally, some good fken food :V
Last year I finished my freshman undergrad year of mathematics at a prestigious university. My financial aid went south. I’ve been doing CAD at a local trade school as I wait for things to sort themselves out. I hope to get a job in CAD for a while to solidify my skills, then maybe return to college and learn engineering.
Also working part time as a cashier at a grocery store, so I got that going for me.
