I dont. I made one once or twice, and it kept the shipping address which is really bad. If there is a shipping address in the paypal payment info, it will sometimes not give you the money till the item is shipped, sometimes you will get the money but the person can be shady, and do a refund. So thats why i dont do Invoices. I havent done them lately so i dont know if they changed them but i do the regular way. I have the person go into Goods/Services, email, look below and tick the no address needed, enter amount, no comments or any dialogue, double check things are right, and click send.
I use this as a paypal tax calculator, my commissioners are kool with it - http://www.gregledet.net/ppfcm.html. I use this to calculate the paypal fee so you can get the full amount you asked for. I asked paypal and said you can do it as long as its not forced, and must include it in your payment details so the person knows about it, and if they agree to it or not. Either way, they pay it because they are sending the payment which is their money anyways. If the person doesnt agree, then dont pay it. Dont want to pay CRV for a beer or soda, dont pay it.
For invoices, i dont do them. Sometimes the invoices can take a while, and sometimes immediately, and sometimes go in the spam folder of their email. So its much easier for me to just have them do it manually. Just be sure they click on the "no address needed" or refunding will cost a fee. That has happened to me recently with someone from Germany who had bad english. I told him everything and he entered the wrong amount, and with an address, and he wouldnt listen to me so i had to charge him a 20% fee to cover the mistake fee, and my time wasted.
Fee to pay, fee to refund, and fee to do the payment again, avoid that. The invoice i did one time didnt have the option to choose no address needed so i gave it up.
