- Pokemon. I am basically a huge Pokemon fan but I am a stickler for consistency when it comes to Pokemon related RPs and stories, you can't just have your human turned Poke speak in Pokespeak the next only to change your mind and having them able to speak English (although to be fair there are Pokemon who can speak English and understand it perfectly well and there is a theory about Pokemon having their own secret language) and you have to at least do your research when it comes to these things too especially egg-groups like think for a second 'is it wise to have a Pokemon who is in the Amorphous egg group pair up with a Pokemon who is of the opposite egg group?' 'Is it wise to have a Raboot and Swampert pair up even though they're two totally opposing types?' Bulbapedia is your friend, you know.
- Tales From The Crypt. My Tales From The Web stories are homages to anthology shows like this, especially in the earlier incarnations of the stories which focused on internet trolls being transformed and punished. And despite what someone who claims the opposite...yeah, what made you think I liked those people? Those people were and probably still are assholes. It's why I don't like jerk characters in stories or RPs, in particular if we're supposed to route for them...I mean you spend the whole first half of the story talking about how much of a loser this character is despite having a decent life only for him to get transformed/mind controlled and say 'screw humanity, i'm going to make everyone my minions'? I'm sorry but if this was an episode of Tales From The Crypt, this guy would be getting his comeuppance in a gruesome way and he or she would deserve it. It's Tales From The Crypt that inspired me to come up with my own stories. Of course sometimes the endings in mine tend to be a tad less gruesome or grim.
- Weird Al.
- Alice Cooper.
- Jay Leno. Jay's my comedy idol, and I see a lot of similarities to him in myself.
- Tom Savini.
- Michael Jackson.
- John Candy.
- John Landis.
- Labyrinth and David Bowie in general.
- Biker Mice From Mars. When I do fish-people transformations I always go for ones that resemble deep ones, Gill-Man, Abe Sapien or the Plutarkians from this show.
- Big Wolf On Campus. This is the show that got me into werecreatures and monsters, this show has a good guy werewolf as the protagonist (it's refreshing to see a werewolf who isn't typecast as a villain), and it's a very quotable show too and a great way to introduce horror to people who aren't entirely into it.
- Fright Night (1985). The movie that kicked off my love of 80's horror and vampires.
- From Dusk Till Dawn (1996).
- Dungeons and Dragons. When I do werecreature depictions I go by D&D rules and folklore rules, I don't believe that werecreatures should just be one singular alignment (i.e good or evil) and that it's okay to be different, you don't have to follow the same cliches. Like if you really want you can have a were-seabeast who can live on land without dying from suffocation (unlike most species of fish when you take them out of water) or a were-bear who doesn't eat meat and would rather help the environment. I just find it really odd in werecreature RPs and stories when a werecreature is portrayed as a exclusively evil character who decides to assimilate everyone else into being their species. It's a minor nitpick really but a hive-mind just to me wouldn't work with a werewolf since in my eyes...werewolves and werecreatures in general are tragic and there can be good guy ones, maybe if it was a were-insect tribe I would be able to believe that since it would make sense (or if you wanted to go new age with it, have it be a nightclub titled 'The Hive' or something with an insect theme and have it so they're not actually hive-minded, they just have been conditioned to and compelled by the club's main performer's powers into thinking they are). Also...yeah it's okay to have a demon transform someone into a demon themselves, but the thing is I still don't find it plausible that a bite/scratch would turn someone, okay maybe if it wasn't an actual bite or scratch or if it was a curse. I personally prefer to have my demons and ghosts possess people to turn them since I am big on possession, but expecting me to believe a demon bite can turn you into one..yeah, there's a reason that trope only works for vampires, werecreatures and the undead outside of RPGs. Because you don't see many movies or lore in general where demons bite people to turn them, but hey...not all monsters are the same. I have were-celebs for instance because I love transformations into famous people and dream about them frequently.
- Goosebumps. One class I definitely studied at had a shelf of Goosebumps books and I saw some of the Give Yourself Books...one of them definitely inspired me and that was Trapped In Batwing Hall, oh yes...oh yes, where you transform into a bat in one of the versions of the storyline and into a werewolf in another. And also they got me into horror.
- Possession stories. Oh boy, so many possession stories and captions...I love possession as a means to turn someone, it happens so many times in my own dreams too especially the ones in which I turn into David Bowie or Mick Jagger and sometimes with Corey Feldman and most commonly with Dan Aykroyd (not surprising considering Aykroyd's love of ghosts and all).
- Mel Brooks.
- Rick Baker.
- Classic rock, in particular Queen, The Police, Black Sabbath and The Rolling Stones.
- Dan Aykroyd. I have come to realize if I ever got transformed into a celebrity in a were-celeb story or caption I would probably wind up being Dan considering he is my twin in every single way, okay I don't have webbed toes, two different colored eyes or that cute dimple in the middle of his nose but i'd totally be a 'Were-Aykroyd' if it was possible for were-celebs to be real (I get transformed into him a lot in my dreams too and since I know he based several aspects of Nothing But Trouble on weird dreams he has, I have the feeling we'll likely end up befriending each-other).
- 80's and 90's horror.
- South Park.
- Dreamworks.
- SNL.
- Jim Henson.
- Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992).
- Animorphs. Especially the covers which inspired me to want to try my own hand at morphs, one of the books I came across in the school I studied at was an Animorphs book featuring Ax morphing into a cow (one of the first times I saw a cow transformation and also one of the first male character to cow transformations I ever saw). I tried my own hand at morphing several times, I used Fantamorph originally and I did morphs of myself into characters from Pixar, Dreamworks and Disney as well as a few animal-person morphs including an MGM lion morph and morphs into Biker Mice From Mars characters (I really wish I could do go the Throttle and Modo transformation stories i've been meaning to do and the Lawrence Limburger one. I've been wanting to do Limburger since he is my favorite animated tv villain but the problem is I can't seem to think of anything because it's kind of tricky...I mean basically turning into a plutarkian who is dressed as a person and all), and celebrities, of course the one Dreamworks character I haven't done a morph of in picture form yet is Megamind, I also used a few morphs of mine as illustrations for my own transformation screenplays, I did a James to John Belushi morph, several John Candy ones, and a lot of Grinch ones (that is after all my favorite Jim Carrey movie) and a few Star Wars alien morphs. Of course my morphs weren't perfect. Then after the trial expired on Fantamorph, well I sought out other morphing programs including Squirlz. My current morphing program is Facemorpher, I use that one when Morphthing's morphs don't turn out right.
