WPFCon Covid - 19 Announcement
Greetings Friends,
We are still many months out from Wild Prairie Fur Con, and the most recent update from the Manitoba government has the economy just starting to open up in a few days. While this did give us some hope, further reading provided the information that both our organizers and the hotel needed to make a final call. Wild Prairie Fur Con 2020 is officially cancelled this year due to large events in Manitoba not being reinstated until September at the very earliest. While this is extremely disappointing to all of us, we feel that it is for the best, given the situation, which we as a community do not contribute to a second wave of COVID-19.
The following information covers what exactly will be happening with regards to Registration, Dealers Den, hotel reservations, panel/conbook submissions, and the possibility of an online-only mini convention.
Registration:
The default action that will be taken in regards to registrations is that they will be rolled over to 2021. If this is what you would like to do, you need to take no further action at all. Your registration for this year will automatically be rolled over.
Registration Refunds:
If you would like a refund on your registration, we most certainly accommodate you. You will be required to fill in a form that will be available on our website. Please be aware that all registrations will be refunded to the associated PayPal account and that PayPal may not refund you the PayPal fees. We will not be offering any other methods of refunds, nor shall we be giving refunds to different accounts.
Registration Donation:
If you are feeling particularly generous, the option to donate your registration fee will also be available via the website. This means that your registration will not roll over to 2021 but will be donated to WPFCon in order to help the convention survive these trying times. Due to being unable to do our standard fundraising for the designated convention charity, 20% of every donated registration will be donated in turn to Craig Street Cats.
Dealers Den:
We will be emailing all of our dealers to ask if you would like to roll over your registration and table fees to 2021 or if you would like a refund. For those rolling over, you will not need to reapply in 2021 for a Dealers Den table, while those getting a refund will need to reapply.
If you would like to donate your table and registration fees to WPFCon, we will donate 20% to Craig Street Cats and put you on the roll over list, though you will need to pay again.
Hotel Reservations:
All hotel reservations made using the WPFCon code on the Radisson website or by phone have been cancelled. If you have booked on your own without using our code, or at another hotel, you will need to cancel that reservation on your own.
Conbook and Panel Submissions:
As much as we loved all of the submissions we got this year, we will be starting from scratch come 2021. We hope to see some amazing ideas and fan favourites returning again next year.
Finally, while the loss of yet another furry con this year is devastating for some, we are hoping to have an online Mini Con for those that wish to participate. We are not entirely sure how this will be accomplished. We are currently watching the upcoming online conventions that are happening this weekend to see how they are run, and we will see if there are improvements that we can make.
We thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. Should you have any questions that are not answered here, you may reach out to the convention staff at inquiries[at]wpfcon.ca
We hope you stay safe and healthy, and that we see you again in 2021.
