Not the news Wuff was hoping for

Hmmm.... what's that smell? Ah! Smells like BS to this wuff!
Local Walmart where wuff shops, reports an "outbreak" of virus: 3 employees test positive at the store.
Health Dept says they're "alerting" shoppers that were in the store 8-13 May. (Haven't received ANY "alerts" here yet. Alerting how?)
But the gov Health Department nor Walmart aren't releasing any details on what department the employees were in, or where shoppers might have been exposed. Why not?
And the store is closing NOW, to do full cleaning & sanitization! But virus dies in 5 days on surfaces, worst case. So why clean 10 days later, 5 days after the virus has cleaned itself out?
Unless they believe more employees have it, but just haven't tested positive or shown symptoms yet.
If so, isn't the public still endangered? After all, Covid can incubate for 14 days & be transmissible w/out symptoms.
So why were only 5 days listed for possible exposure (8-13 May)? Were these employees working elsewhere, new hires, on leave, etc? If they could have been contagious for 14 days, why is the public only being alerted to 5 of them? And why are we being refused information about what area of the store might be affected, or where the employees worked?
Vrghr would LOVE to see the real details!
But wuff FIRMLY expects we're being fed a line by the Walmart, the Health Dept and our public officials. And Vrghr, for one, does NOT like the taste of it!!
And yes, wuff WAS in that store during the "alert period"! Vrghr's author is one of those in the "catch it and die" higher risk categories. So this wuff definitely has a personal interest.

But the state & county Health Dept. are even less effective. They aren't releasing any info on areas or departments in that store that were at highest risk for exposure. And their "alert" consisted of telling some local TV stations, no reverse 911, emails, messages, 'snail mail' or other methods. Wuff had to find out from his TWITTER stream, for heaven's sake!
Not acceptable!
Stay safe!
*nods*
Exactly!
Wuff is going on self-imposed self-isolation until after he comes back from Memorial Day vacation. That'll be a full 20 days after the potential exposure on the 8th. So should be plenty of time to know one way or another, and keep everyone else safe for possible spread.
But glad you're staying safe out there too! *HUGS*
And you get some great foods while you're at it. So even if it isn't doing anything health-wise, it's still a win, eh? *GRIN*
Not at all!
As Sherlock Holmes would say... 'The games afoot.'

Considering that Dr.s in CA are now discovering, forensically, that there were a lot of cases in CA back in Nov and December, the whole premise of those huge "spikes" being shown all over to start occurring in Jan through Mar were totally inaccurate, based on a false start date! And all the predictions of huge waves of new cases, bodies lying in the gutters, etc., for all those "horrible red states" that started "prematurely" opening up? Where are they?
Even the FL beach openings that would so traumatic to all the Karens and Richards out there? No major rise in cases there either.
And now we here that the folks behind the algorithms of the models themselves are saying that their formulas were faulty. But we're still referring to them!
Gee, if we can't predict a real-time event, with results only a few weeks out, what of the FAR more complex models they've been using for climate change, with vectors reaching out for years or decades? Things that make you go "Hmmmmm"!
*smiles and gives the wuffy a hug...

Wuff wouldn't be the least surprised. The "climate first" folks have absolutely climbed on board, as you mentioned! They're already saying this is "good first step, but we have to go MUCH farther!".
Wish more focus was given to those folks now. Would certainly open the eyes of a lot of more center but naive folks, like the ones who believed PETA was actually interested in animal welfare.
Yeah, the numbers are total garbage and they know it.
They were not told who it was
Only that it was a chick in the meat department
And only people who worked directly with her knew who it was and if they told theyd be fired on the spot
But employees mingle and some have friends across departments right? (And not all share phone numbers or whatnot outside of work) So yeah, the rest of her walmart knows nothing OH and they arent paying people who decide to stay home who they think may have been exposed to the lady
Walmart sucks ass and can eat a brick for how much they dont give a shit about their employees :/
Forgot to mention, they didnt tell anyone it happened to the rest of the walmart staff AND/OR reported it to the public at all
So unless you hear the "hush hush" this walmart is "clean" aka shady as fuck
But there are "sensible" levels of notification that don't run afoul of the "personal info" levels. It looks like Walmart is just too stupid or timid to even make those notifications available.
Sadly, this is the world we live in today, where the level of negative exposure in media and the legal consequences make it more optimal to simply try to hide things, than to come clean about them.
But still
Someone was tested positive and not everyone was told
Doesnt really matter who at this point since its more about the general public now having been exposed and not being told kind of deal...
I just hope they get their head out of their asses soon
But yeah I understand what your saying about the lawyers
Ironically, Walmart is setting themselves up for a suit, because they were trying to protect themselves from one.
Funny, isn't it, that it hasn't even been featured in a single news article, locally or nationally? You'd think the public would be eager to learn how they're being protected from pandemic waves of disease from itinerants or homeless, wouldn't you? And reassured to know that those "underserved" populations had such intensive support facilities for their well being? No?
*sigh* Wuff just so saddened about the duplicity, outright lies, and spin being used at EVERY level of this event. It's depressing and sickening.
I think the conspiracies are generally small and overlapping.
I think some people are trying to help, but failing.
Ithink some are confused by the conspiracy nuts. (For example, the people who claim that viruses don’t exist, or are cured by a common plant)
I think some people see this as a chance to profit, their own cause. (Which in some cases is making themself rich)
In some cases, the people are petty bureaucrats, that are very good at following the letter of the rules, and terrible at getting things done.
And in some cases are lying to people “for their own good”.
A vast overwhelming conspiracy requires cooperation, and the ability to keep a secret. In my experience, politicians are terrible at both of these.
My best guess is they didn’t reveal the name or department of the person, because they don’t want a figurative lynchmob going after the person, and realized that if they spend 5 days sanitizing, it’ll keep people busy while the quarantine period ends, and they can see who caught it.
Is this a good idea? Probably not. Does it fit the facts and Occam’s Razor? Yes.
This walmart started out pretty well. They had loads of sterilizing hand wipe dispensers throughout the store, but those have since gone empty. And they have marked up all the checkout lines and aisles with "one way" signage and spacing marks. That's at least a few positives. (Whether or not folks actually obey them is another story.)
At least they cared enough to admit that they'd had some employees test positive. Wuff has heard reports of others who wouldn't even let the public know that.
