CW: health, cancer, needles, surgery, COVID
So back in December, I quit working for Petco, to take on more hours with the emergency vet.
Unfortunately I had a rough spell. February, right after Katsucon, I discovered a problem with my right breast. After a mammogram, it was determined to be "severely worrisome" and "very concerning for cancer". I was put on the fast track to get a needle biopsy of my mass. Thankfully it came back as a 1 in 1000 shot of this type/density of mass, and over one in a million chance of all growths in breast tissue, of BENIGN. I was still fast-tracked for surgery at the end of March when everything was shutting down. Surgery went well, I had a a clean lumpectomy with a bilateral breast reduction to "balance me out". I went from a DDD to a ... we suspect a C cup (waiting for swelling to finish going down) Biopsy post-surgery determined that the mass was indeed Non-trauma based fibromatosis.
Because of all this, I had to take time off my work, and unfortunately when I came back we were in the midst of all the COVID-19 mess, and some of my colleagues insisted that they didn't want to wear their masks. I was high risk BEFORE my surgery, and will continue to be higher risk post surgery while my body heals.
I had been passing the time selling hand-sewn face masks, and will be filling out my FAFSA and applying for school this fall to get my certified as a Vet tech, and to finish out my Associates degree.
