In the wake of this national cascade of tragedies & outra...

My heart goes out to everyone involved in this struggle, I wish you all the support and safety you can manage. Your causes are just, I live in the greater Louisville metropolitan area and these protests are very close to home for me. I wish for justice as much as all of you, and I stand in solidarity with you all. It is past time for change, for over four decades the wealthy have been looting our country of both money and morals, and for so much longer racial and social inequality has been a stubborn fact of our country. Unfortunately these things only seem to see real change when the people rise up and demand it, and I hope we can keep this passion going to see through real, desperately needed change. I also hope we bring this same passion to the election come November, our chance to show how truly fed up we have become and oust the fascist right from the power they have openly, unashamedly abused and/or allowed to be abused while murmuring "thoughts and prayers" and empty sympathies while their party runs rampant destroying all that this great democracy once stood for.
My scorn goes out to the police who are still using excessive force, as well as to the rioters and looters who are burning down other people's neighborhoods and causing trouble in general, and also to those whom see this as an opportunity to incite further racial violence and carry out their own foul deeds while trying to discredit this movement. The pages of history will remember all of you exactly as they remember the racists of the past that you venerate, with scorn and dishonor, tainted forever, and I pray you share their fates fully.
I am glad to see the true protesters doing their best to reign in and see punished those who are abusing this situation for personal gain and greed (looters) and for their darker agendas. I am glad to see some of the police joining with the protesters, they should be encouraged and celebrated, even if they share some of the blame for the system of corruption and total lack of accountability and consequence that has been built up around law enforcement. Now is the time for them to step up and demand the changes needed in their own community, so that our two communities can be one again in peace and understanding.
I don't bring up my personal beliefs much, I am not religious and I have a complicate relationship with such things, but The Satanic Temple's tenets speak to me deeply, for they are non-theistic (no belief in divine beings of any sort, Satan included) and encourage us towards being our best, caring for one another, and ending these rivalries.
*One should strive to act with compassion and empathy towards all creatures in accordance with reason.
*The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.
*One's body is inviolable, subject to one's own will alone.
*The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo your own.
*Beliefs should conform to our best scientific understanding of the world. We should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit our beliefs.
*People are fallible. If we make a mistake, we should do our best to rectify it and resolve any harm that may have been caused.
*Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word.
