In person depends. But with the virus going around, right now offline, I don't even shake hands. ^^;
Here some restaurants have their lobbies reopened (limited seating), and most places don't require masks. Plexiglass and social distancing are probably staying awhile longer, or permanently, though.
The directional markers on Walmart floors are ignored even by the masked. It makes me scratch my head. I tend to mask if in Walmart, though not required. I did put it on when talking to an older fellow I know who came up to talk and was wearing one, to respect his feeling it necessary for himself. But about half of the elderly here don't wear them anyway if they're relatively healthy. (They do fog up spectacles horribly, and I feel that's probably a major factor in why they don't.)
So far, no spike here. That leads me to believe most of us have either already been exposed and weren't affected, it's passed for the season for the most part, or the prevention worked...but those who weren't exposed will have a tougher go when it cycles again. Hopefully by then the hospitals will be more up to speed, and a vaccine will be in clinical trials, or at least show promise. Though I don't hold my breath, since we still don't have one for the cold, and there's so many flu ones that don't work for certain types (but you don't know until later on anyway).
I think eventually everyone will have had it to a degree or been exposed, just how slowly we can keep it from spreading to buy time for hospitals.
Yup same here. Same precautions but also some tables have been blocked off to put space between folks.
Indeed it is mystery as to why folks ignore the obvious. I wear one just because I am one who does not wish to harm others if there is even the slightest chance I could be infected and around others who may not have had it yet. Yeah I was seeing that too most folks just go about their daily routine as if nothing has happened. They do fog things up for sure. If I do not have my mask adjusted correctly I am blind, the joys of wearing glasses. Most fun on cold days.
Yeah same here in my area. We took precautions early and avoided the worst. I think you are correct I am sure I had it back in march. I had two days were I felt like I had been beaten and was running a fever. I think we will be ok. Yeah it will take some time for a cure and by them we will have beaten it.
Yeah if it has not already happened which I think it has considering it has most likely been around since last fall considering china had its big blowout starting in December and other cases before that would have been dismissed as the seasonal flue virus. But yes taking precautions will slow it.
They're doing that here as well, the places that did open lobbies. Already people are using the closed booths...
Cold days...we won't see those until October, here. XD I mainly go about doing whatever I need to, unhindered. Masking is an inconvenience I can put up with in store. But not outside in heat loading paving stone like yesterday. It's an outdoor garden center, not crowded. I need to breathe some fresh air in 90s...
Some places are seeing a rebound, so it isn't over yet. A healthcare worker said they'd be having everyone mask until there's a vaccine... So this could be permanent if they don't, or years... But yet they want me to go do elective screenings. I guess it's nearly empty, though, so..."maybe." Beijing is seeing a resurgence in cases, I heard, and some states.
I did have a rough (for me) case of flu about early March I caught from a friend who caught it from a coworker. Seven days total, when I'm usually over it in three or four. No symptoms in line with Covid, just felt "ugh...blarf" like flu. Nobody I knew was a traveler, so I was pretty confident it was just rough flu. Since I work alone, I kept doing my thing, kept fluids in, and kept active so my system kept working. I slept pretty good, though.
Yup them funny booths are going up all around here too in different places. The thing that amuses me most is the "sneeze guards" at all the cash registers in all the stores you go too. It kinda like putting the cashiers in a confinement booth.
Yeah that is usually the way it is here too but things have been weird thus far with many days of overly rainy, wet, cool days. Yeah same here. The masking truly is a pain in the rear for sure. Indeed it does cause issues when it is hot. You inhale your already exhaled hot air and your mask starts to get soggy thus causing you more breathing difficulty. Humans were not designed to breath with an obstruction just inches from their blow hole. Indeed physical labor does compound the issue and pretty soon you pass out from it all. Learned all about this fun stuff when I was in the air force and had to endure mock chem attack drills and put on a chem suit and full face mask in 80 degree weather inside a metal fab shop. When you were through you would be soaked with sweat and have to pour it out of your face mask. So I get the need and desire to breath unrestricted fresh air on a 90 + day.
Indeed it is happening slowly here too and the smart folks are being kind and wearing their masks to help keep others safe. Indeed we could see this drag on for a long time sadly. I hope not though for everyone's sake we need to get back to a better normal. Yeah sadly it is rebounding in some instances. I think it was too soon in some case to get back to the way things were. I think extreme caution is the best scenario in this instance. As to the screening I think I would opt for it myself just to make sure things were alright.
Yeah there is still that going round too and all the other not so cool stuff that we have to watch out for. Just glad for your sake it was just that. Just got to love the pass it on fun game thing it becomes when folks are not kind enough to just stay home when they get ill from anything. I know some folks that feel no matter what they need to be around folks even when they are so sick they are puking or hacking up green globs of goop etc... Thank you for not making sure other folks are safe and healthy you filthy animals! They forget that some folks have no immune system or a compromised one. Sorry bout that just a pet peeve of mine.
Glad you were able to get good sleep in spite of it.
The local DQ doesn't have them, but they're the only "fast food" place that's doing any inside business. Subway is too, but I haven't gone there due to cost.
Now we're in an extended heat wave that's humid... It's pretty awful. I finally called it a day early, and I don't usually do that until dark. Not a breeze at all to help, nor blow the skeeters away.
We do need a better normal, not this "new normal" some have called and accepted with this. I mainly see the older folks masking here. Social distancing is staying intact, through. I occasionally see hand sanitizer in tiny, expensive bottles, now, but no Lysol spray or equivalent. The main issue is dang need nobody, even the maskers, heed the "shop this way, not this way" signs at Walmart. They can't read here, evidently...
Today a lady (and I say that loosely, because she dropped the f-bomb...a looot) on her phone said she wasn't feeling well, sniffing...then paces around, randomly talks to me and sits/stands too close while jabbering to me and a friend about her troubles, love life, drugs, her kid, bad boyfriends, hired and fired... Just...really? 8S
Now if only the nights were back to 60ish degrees for a decent sleep again...
Yeah that seems a bit odd in a place that is suppose to keep customers safe. Yeah subway can be a bit pricey at times. I am a bit leery about being in confined spaces with others right now, this is my main reason for staying away fro most places in general and limiting my trips to town. Too many folks are still not taking this thing seriously around here. Our county actually refuses to enforce the rules or due the proper testing. They even cover up the actual number of cases and who has the virus. We had a n outbreak in or Foster Farms chicken processing plant months ago and they just stopped testing and reporting on new cases. They even refused to shut the plant down as the cases were increasing. So this guy is just not doing anymore than he absolutely has to in town.
Well that sucks. I know all about them skeeters and heat waves. Living in Washington state out in the country we get our fair share of skeeters and hot humid spells. i also spent some time in Memphis years ago while I was in the Air Force from the end of July through the first part of September. It was between 90 to 100 degrees with 90 to 100 percent humidity the whole time I was there. Thank god my Ac did not go out in my room in the brick barracks i lived in like it did in many of my friends rooms. Indeed breezes are a blessing. I get calling it a day before dark under such conditions.
eyup. I hear ya. We have great number who are just being idiots here too. No masks, no distance, no following any signs, no nothing. Oh they can read they just like being assholes. Some folks just feel aint nobody going to tell them what to do! They is bullet proof and nothing is going to get to them and they are not infectious. We are lucky hand sanitizer has come back to most stores several different kinds too in many sizes. We still have yet to get the disinfectant wipes back though.
Well dang hope you did not catch it whatever it was. Stupid lady for sure. She aint no lady son as my pappy would say. Yeah have know some folks just like her. They come to work or church for the company no matter what they are harboring. Tell you all about how they are hacking up goobers or just puked in the toilet multiple times. Usually right up in your face too. Well geez , thank you so much for caring so much about health and well being and being so polite to get right up in my face with whatever it is you have! I hear ya loud and clear. Just really indeed!
Yeah I do like it when the nights are cool and can relate also to them not being sometimes. I hope things are getting better for you and that you have day of most excellence!
I think our reporting has been okay. No new spikes, most businesses open for adjusted hours. Just DQ seems to not be using the plexiglass, just limiting seating. Dollar General still isn't enforcing the masks, corporate said not to make a big deal about it. Dollar Tree is, I heard. I go where I need to. I miss nighttime trips to Walmart when it was cooler and less people, though.
This weekend will be mid 90s, and next week high 90s to over 100. I'm not looking forward to it... XP I wouldn't want to live in high humidity, and with skeeters the size of dogs.
Yeah, I know they can read, they just go the direction they want to. Still, if that's how they drive... OoO Hand sanitizer is spotty in availability, no disinfectant wipes and definitely no sprays. TP is back, though not always a preferred brand. (Dollar General tp for $1 doubles as sandpaper, oi! X'O )
"Some people's kids, I tell ya'!"
Mmm...things haven't been better. I prefer not putting them in a public journal, though. (Just like my location. I prefer being somewhat of a mystery. XD )
Yeah pretty much the same here except for a mask mandate enforced by our gov. in all public places. He left some major loopholes though so some folks are still not wearing them. The plexiglass is a thing in all public places here as is the spacing in all eating places. I to go as I need and do not make any extra trips. Yeah those night trips are nice so you can avoid the crowds.
Our weekend here in Washington will be in the seventies. It was nice and cool the last two days with rain yesterday. Sorry to hear it. Stay indoors and cool. I was stationed in two of those types of places at different times when I was in the air force. It truly was a pain. I would never live in another place like it. Too nasty!
Yup I just do as I please is their way of thinking. Screw you and your health and sense of security! Yup its a wonder they made it to the store. Oh wait they obey the traffic rules to get there you say but yea they refuse to follow the rules in the store? How rude!Sorry bout your sparse commodities. We have been back to somewhat normal in that sense for many months now. About the only thing we lack is ammo, which really is not important for most. It just up and vanished almost everywhere. I stocked up for my 9mm awhile back. I hear ya on the sandpaper tp, came across some of it years ago never bought any like it since. My tush prefers softness. I also like to be able to sit comfortably.
Indeed some folks kids!
Oh man sorry to hear it. *supportive hugs to yas!* I understand completely. public things have a way of going place they should not and be seen by prying eyes. It is best to stay secretive about tall these things. Plus it makes a person more mysterious and interesting. (note me if you feel comfortable in doing so, I am a very private kind of person myself when it is called for.) I will give you all the support I can. Folks needs it every now and again. My shoulders are broad and my heart is always open.
I hope you have a wonderful day and life starts to treat you kindly.
I can tolerate most tp, but that was horrible stuff.
You have always been kind to me, and I am appreciative of it!
Thank you, and you as well!
