time is a funny thing.

For people that may know me half-decently, they know my memory is terrible.
For the past few years especially, I've made it known to coworkers and neighbours and new friends (?) that I have completely zero sense of time, and that I only know of when things happen by reminding myself of where I was when such things happened. This means most events in my life can be narrowed down to blocks of time spanning roughly 4 years.
Clearly this is not ideal.
I also know I should REALLY pay more attention to the passage of time for quite a few reasons, but that's not how my mind seems to want to work. In fact, I believe my mind is getting worse at retaining information based on dates, as a few birthdays have come up recently, and I've been getting them confused with birthdays of people who have not been alive for quite a few years. This would be worrisome to me, but I have a few other things of greater concern to focus on.
For some people on here, please know that if it seems I have forgotten about you, chances are pretty good I have not, I just can't discern time properly, and a lack of communication for a couple years might only register to me as a few weeks. I'm not even exaggerating.
If I don't write things down and leave them in very obvious places, I am not likely to forget about many important things like appointments and birthdays and the like, but I probably will forget when those things occur in relation to the present date.
Also I'm quite bad at remembering faces AND names, but that's probably an unrelated issue.

Don't beat yourself up too much. I think time management is one of the main things that people in our day and age get overwhelmed with easily. Memory is also an issue because we rely on smartphones and stuff to fill in the blanks. If it helps just use a calendar. I started to fill in spots on calendars with crucial dates and it saves me a lot of trouble. And don't overwhelm yourself with too many promises and obligations.

But you remember being an awesome newt quite well, and that's what really matters!
