A lot has happened over the past few months and looking back at our history’s dark past, we know our country is anything but perfect. But over time, regardless of the struggles we still encounter today, we grow closer and realize how alike we are and fight for our common cause for freedom and to defend and preserve our rights to living happy lives without fear. It’s not that we hate our country, of course not. We all screw up but we learn to change over time for good reason. As our Founding Fathers told us, erasing our past makes us doomed to repeat it and a house divided amongst itself cannot stand. We should unite in solidarity, speak up and break down the walls of oppression and build bridges to all those suffering so that everyone can be happy. Black Lives Matter. Trans Rights are Human Rights. People of every race, religion, creed, class, nationality, tribe, gender, orientation, and age. Whether they can or can’t walk or talk. Everyone. I still have a love for the country I call home, along with my family and friends. I’m grateful to be alive and well and part of a progressive group of people that wants to see progress made and to see a truly greater country where hate and intolerance are behind us, and it’s why I say Happy 4th of July!
