Yellow + Brown tones

I personally like shades of brown and yellows the best. Greens can be good too depending on their tone but browns and yellows win in the end for me.

Nah, I don't think you made a mistake. I like the yellows you've been using a whole lot! Yellows and browns give farts that real 'dirty' feeling which makes them better in my opinion! So you're doing mighty fine.

I like green and brown the most, but you can use what you want.

One of life's greatest questions isn't it? What fart color is the best? I've never been a big fan of brown fart clouds because it's very similar to scat and I am not a scat lover, ironically enough. Personally, I prefer yellow and green. Yellow because it gives off a sickly look, a rather toxic look like it really must smell bad. However, green works just as well as I feel it's more associated with toxicity than the other two colors.

I've also seen people use purple, and while I understand why, I've never found it attractive. Don't use purple.

It mainly has to do with artistic choice and like colors that contrast well with each other. Like, take this image for example: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/19859621/ The picture mainly uses three colors: black, blue, and purple. To use a color like yellow for the fart color, it would stand out too much, which is probably not what the artist is going for. Now, you wouldn't use brown because that would be to dark and blend with background and the majority of the character's fur. And green wouldn't work no matter what shade you used for the previous two reasons. Purple would be considered more appealing to look at because it contrasts well with the background but at the same time matches with the spots of purple on the character like her hair and stripes on her clothing.

In fact, 9 times out of 10 your going to see purple fart clouds being used with the character who mainly consists of darker colors like black or blue or even a bright color like white, which goes well with any color.

I prefer a mix of yellow and green.
