Another Orbit Around the Sun
So, I have been away for a while due to computer issues. I received some money from the government - for once, the thieving bastards gave me some back, rather than taking more - and used it to get myself a drawing tablet and a new SSD for my laptop. However, when instaling it, I somehow managed to make a complete mess of it all, and it's only through the help of some friends I have now managed to get myself back online in any kind of acceptable or workable state.
On the upside, I now have said drawing tablet to start learning to use shortly, which means I'll also be planning to move forward with some art projects I've had on the back burner for ages, and have wanted to move on with.
This is also helped by the fact it was my 39th birthday while I was offline - I had a nice celebration with some friends, as much as Social Distancing will allow. Had a BBQ, a sufficient amount of alcohol was imbibed, and a lot of fun was had. I also visited my parents, as my father is ill. He was recently diagnosed with lung cancer and a brain tumour. He is starting therapy soon, so hooves crossed for that, but I wanted to see him first, while he was still feeling well enough. He's doing well right now, or at least as well as one could expect, but we'll see how his condition goes after his treatment starts.
He was quite encouraging when I saw him of my art, as was my mother. My Dad especially said to me he'd love to see something with a narrative come from my art, as he used to read Marvel and DC comics when he was younger, and I get a lot of my love of SF from him.
My wife also got me some promarker-style art markers, so I'll be turning my hooves to learning how to use them as well, further increasing my potential for different kinds of art output, something I'm eager to do. Plus I think my art style will really suit the vibrant colours markers can give, considerng how animation-inspired my art is.
I'm hoping to keep my art coming, and really start building on the stuff I've been putting out lately. I have a lot of ideas that I want to put into physical - or at least digital - reality, of things I've always had floating around in my head, waiting for when I could get the tools and materials, and when I could really start learning more. There's no time like now, and I feel like it's a good time to get moving on it all. I hope that it's all well received - and even if it isn't, it'll be my satisfaction that I'll get out of telling the stories I want to put out there, and completing them in some form or another.
