After you make a couple of baphomets, I see a BUNCH of 'baphomet' designs following a couple days after. It's quite annoying. e_e And they're not nearly as well designed or detailed as yours.

Sad to see you are going through this, hopefully it doesn't deter you from making them, they are very beautiful designs

But if they're too similar then I get you get uncomfy, but uhm, I don't think it's bad to inspire on the artist you follow? Again, it depends if the design is just too similar.

yeah like i understand no one owns a species lol and most characters have the usual pelt design and colors, that's ok i don't really mind lol
But usually with these baphomets, the ears, style, the pelt designs and just pretty much everything is like cheap version of the ones i've made and it is pretty obvious when you see them around that they were copied from the ones i made. Like i said Folks have paid large amounts of cash for these designs and it is disrespectful all around for folks to go and make similar ones

I'd have to ask for a specific, noticeable example like they straight rip off the color palette of a recent adopt or something because baphomets are a mythological creature, not an OC species exclusive to the fandom.

Is it just small things to your designs, like including wings at the small of the back, or the long-curved sweeping horns? I've been exploring just the keyword 'Baphomet' in the search and I've been seeing like three camps of baphomet design. Some have wings, some are just goat creatures, some have the weird horn designs.

Pelt designs are finicky because some patterns are pretty easy to make similar. I've seen a lot of folks with duo-tone creatures that do the cheeks, chest, stomach, and some highlights as the secondary color while the rest is the primary.

That said, I do completely understand if you make an adopt like the most recent one in your gallery and someone immediately comes up with the exact same, but I might just be blind to trends like that because all the baphomets I've seen tagged as such so far have been pretty varied, save for the typical stuff like I mentioned. The big thing about your designs seems to be the halo and I have yet to see that come up very often outside of your work via search, to be fair.

They're designs that're far too similar to just be 'coincidence'. Ear shape/design, tail shape/design, pelt colors/design, horns, crowns, piercings, etc. Things that you can look at and then immediately think of Sinful's specific designs, or if you were to look through Sin's adopts you find one that looks almost exact. No one can own any of these traits independently but the combinations... it's very obvious what inspired them

With all the con artists and counterfeiting going on these days, it's no surprise to me that this happening. It's a real shame that something like this has become so widespread. I have yet to see some these rip off baphomet designs myself but I'm sure they arent nearly as good as yours. Hopefully this journal of yours will act as a deterrent toward those potential buyers.

If it is alright to ask, could you DM me an example of the ones to avoid? ;w; I can definitely understand if they're an obvious connection (like the time Reverence, my sakura hell yeen from you had what looked like a pretty close rip off made of her), but if they are less clear, I'd really rather not risk getting blacklisted for accidentally ending up with one. ToT

I'd have to see what you mean, and the similarities would have to be very obvious/egregious, otherwise "Demon goat" and "Goat" is a pretty popular and wide-spread design.

Nah, people have ZERO respect for artists and character designers. They only see the finished product and assume the person behind it vomited it out with a single brush stroke. Being an artist is ungrateful as fuck and I'm really sorry for those ripoffs you're seeing.

How is it a ripoff, if I may ask? Goats, like what Baphomet is portrayed as, have larger ears that go off to the side, and like Baphomet, has horns, goats.

People can't be original, it's not that hard to make pastel demon goat that doesn't have the exact black and white contrast, pink or pastel purple hair and hearts under the eyes.

I'mma be real with you, Baphomet as a religious figure has existed before the time of Knights Templar. Just go for it. There's plenty of reference material and goat species to look from.

respectfully i have to ask.. why would you punish someone who buys something not knowing its a problem? like today i saw an adopt i wanted, looked vaguely familiar but i couldnt place it, just liked it. was gonna bid but got distracted. came back to you talking to the person and them changing it. based on what you're saying here, if i had bought it, i'd be blacklisted even though i did nothing wrong. so im just wondering why you'd blacklist someone for buying something without them knowing it's similar to something you've done?

Like feel free to use a species like a baphomet or whatever. Be inspired but don't rip off people's designs. It's possible to use a species without copying off of someone else's work.

I'd like to be DMed the counterfit adopts vs yoyr adopts so i can avoid them and/or blacklist the person for doing this.

I get no spiecies is ever 100% original, but if people are out and out copying to a near replica, I'd like to know what to look for and who to avoid.

As much as I do enjoy your work, you can’t copyright a style of coloring which is exactly what this is. Nor a palette, shapes of ears/tails and where piercings are placed. There may be inspiration but that in itself is not copyright infringement because nobody (from what I’ve seen) has completely ripped something you’ve created. From design & species to exact color palette and clothing.

Being as blunt as it is, it honestly feels as if you’ve created this post because you’re angry that people may decide to buy an adopt similar in style for a much cheaper price, than the ridiculous prices that are placed on your adopts. But that’s just me.

Hey i dont mean to come off as rude but your post really lack clarity. theres a lot of confusion in the comments because you refuse to clealry outline what exactly is infringing on your work, the main takeaway is baphomet traits in general which nobody owns. so idk if this is a vent against design theft but its framed in completely the wrong way. will probably get called an idiot bc to some this is "clear as day" but when a lot of people want a bit more guidance you should listen to them, they want to adhere to what youre saying and adapt their work to make you comfortable.

You don't own the species, while it's one thing to be ripped off (your designs being stolen) you also can't just patrol people who have been inspired by them.
