The Project is Funded!
Hey everyone,
Wow! We did it… and then some! After 30 days, 392 backers, and $28,700 CAD, we have a successful kickstarter under our belt. But the journey is just beginning. First off, I want to express my eternal gratitude to everyone who supported this project along the way. Be it through financially backing it, sharing it with others, or even providing words of encouragement, I couldn’t have done this without you. Animation has been a long time passion of mine and seeing people come out to support independently produced projects like this one just fills me with joy, and I owe it to all of you to produce the best project that I can.
I just want to take a moment to go over some points to give people an idea of what to expect moving forward.
The Final Product
So we’re making a pilot! That’s a lot of work! The good news is that we’ve already started working on it. As mentioned in the campaign our target release date is February 2021, and based on the rate at which we’ve been completing the current workload, we are on track to hit that deadline. All digital rewards will be released alongside the completion of the pilot. Physical rewards should also be out by then, possibly earlier depending on how things go. I will post updates with more information once I have it.
Stretch Goals
Some of you may have noticed, but we actually hit our first stretch goal, meaning we’ll get to apply to more film festivals! This is great news in terms of increasing this film's reach and getting some good exposure. This can lead to more opportunities for these characters, and believe me, I want this to just be the beginning of their journey!
Now while we didn’t hit the second stretch goal, we did get a little bit of the ways towards it. Because of this, if things go well and we come in under budget, I’m going to see what I can do about making a little extra something for the ending. It wouldn’t be the full epilogue I had planned, but it would be something. No promises, but I will see what I can do!
On Accountability
I understand that backing projects on kickstarters comes with an element of risk to backers, and there can sometimes be fears that the project may not come to completion. Because of this, I am going to make it my duty to be as transparent as possible with all of you about where we are in the production (while avoiding spoilers of course). I’ll be posting updates to this kickstarter page as well as my social media channels giving insight as to where we are and how things are going. I’m going to make it a goal to post on the first of the month to show some work in progress and give an idea of how the production is going, as well as posting updates whenever we hit important milestones. I’ve been working on animating throughout this kickstarter campaign and if things continue the way they are going, I’m confident that we will hit our deadline.
Questions and Concerns
Moving forward, if any of you have any question, comments, or concerns about the project, then feel free to leave a message on the kickstarter page. I will be checking in here regularly and will respond as quickly as I can. If you’d like to reach me directly you can email me at AlexHendersonAnimation[at]gmail.com
Final Thoughts
This has been a crazy month for me. It’s been a lot of work to build this project into what it is today, and I’m not going to lie, I’m pretty exhausted. That being said, I’m also excited to really kick this thing into full gear and really start to bring these scenes to life. Once again, I can’t thank you all enough for all the support you’ve shown me. It means so much to me to have your confidence and I promise to deliver the best finished product I can. Stay tuned to this kickstarter page for updates as we go. See you all at the finish line!
