Recently PayPal Attacks on Furry Art
There’s been a recent attack on furry artists and commissioners who use PayPal. Here are some helpful hints:
Don’t post your PayPal address on your FA and IB pages.
Don’t mention either FA or IB in the payment notes.
Don’t mention the description of the artwork in the payment notes, especially if it’s NSFW.
Don’t send a commission payment to an artist as “Friends and Family”. Send the payment as “Goods and Services”.
One helpful hint: unless you are paying for physical artwork, choose “Address - Not Applicable”
BAD EXAMPLE: “I’m KennyKitsune from FurAffinity/Inkbunny! Here is my payment for the drawing of me being NSFW!” - send payment as “Friends and Family”
GOOD EXAMPLE: “Thanks for the Kenny Kitsune picture! Here is the money I owe you!” - send payment as “Goods and Services”

The issue is that Paypal is international and has to follow regulations for several country's, some of those country's forbid certain types of porn, for example animal porn, even if its drawn/animated, so in order for paypal to do business in those country's they have to ban payments for those types of things. This has been a paypal rule since 2010.
Simply put, if you can't or don't want to follow the rules, IE, you want to pay for porn that violates their TOS, then find a platform that allows you to do so, or provide a CCN to the artist. I've been saying this for YEARS to other furs. If your a SFW furry, then there is nothing to fear and your account won't be banned.
Also what other options even are there??? And don't say Venmo, cause that's owned by PayPal and under their same rules.
Having done some research, Stripe will allow payment services for adult content however you must get permission from them prior to the first adult order. They do require that such content not violate any laws.
Both Applepay and Google pay do not mention a ban on porn, instead stating "works must be original and may not violate any laws." This does not mean they allow it, but through the writing it imply's that they do allow it.
As for Paypal, they are not "Targeting" furrys in general. There are plenty of non-furry porn sites who were blocked from using paypal, Fetlife being one of them, and I doubt they'll life the rule for the minority as it would result in them losing business in other country's.
In my personal experience, I rely on under the table PayPal transactions because I'm a freelancer, plain and simple. Its not so cut and dry as "open a business account with a bank", as I'm under the tax threshold
Once I offer commissions, most of not all commissioners always go to the titular "what's your paypal", and in my experience most commissioners get turned off the transaction when there's payment options.
note: all of my argument is based on my experience and just like anything else it can easily be different from person to person.
Long story short. Paypal has to bend to the will of whatever governments they work under, this includes the Chinese and Japanese governments which have strict rules on porn (Which is surprising but true) There are also restrictions in the UK which is why there was an issue with FA there for a while.
And again, I am stressing this part because too many people think paypal has all furry pics just because they are of furs. THE SAME RULES APPLY FOR HUMAN PORN. Its the porn part they are after. If the work is SFW then paypal wont ban you. As for what else you can do, I don't know. Lately many porn sites require either a CCN or some accept personal checks. You may have to find a way to do this.
