I've been in that "well you drew THIS that one time, why can't you draw it for ME" scenario (granted not with under-18 smut, but you get the idea...) before and it's super awkward to deal with. This has been a topic of debate in my neck of the woods for a hot minute. After a literal week of discussion, what I found upon review of a lot of opinions was that Render technique and artist intent are often larger indicators of what falls into the naughty zone. EG, there's loads of riolu porn on furaffinity still. By game canon standards, riolu is a "baby" pokemon, and it cannot breed until evolved into Lucario. Yet, riolu porn is not tagged routinely as violating ToS / AUP; many render techniques and pieces on FA depict riolu as intentionally mature, and the same could be said of Tails.

Having to clarify, specify, and etc that a character is or is not over 18 is a layer of goal-posting that people with awareness torches are enforcing out of what i could only call "fear of accidental fap". Usually, it's pretty obvious what belongs on Inkbunny, many fringe cases get direct action from moderation. As a double layer, FA's moderators investigate reports and suspicious images, so usually this kinda discourse begins on twitter. Twitter has either no stated ban on furry porn depicting minors, or lackadaisical enforcement. I imagine people who post that manner of content get themselves "canceled" briefly, then resume posting likely as unlisted or whatever twitters method of suppressing search/suggestion results is.

Now, we could discuss the atmosphere on twitter in greater detail, but I'll keep my claim to what's obvious: people on twitter virtue signal like crazy to the point that perceived hypothetical slights become immediate out of hand controversies far before anyone actually communicates with the source.

I appreciate your thoughts on the subject! The sheer amount of context is why I feel having a firm rule against underage characters is the best and safest option. I know Twitter has search bans that notoriously affect NSFW artists, but that's just another wrinkle.

It's the nature of social media to blow everything up immediately. I'd love to be able to get this all out there on Twitter too, but that's just now how the platform works. It's definitely been giving me anxiety, since I was about to open commissions again and this felt like a bucket of cold water.

Yep, that's the nature of the beast innit. I've been meaning to use long-form text posted as images to get across my thoughts on the platform myself. It's a lot of effort to push through a concise message but I think it'd be worth it in the future.
