ShellyPhish Intro

Hey, all! ShellyPhish here!
I finally figured out how to write journal entries so why not add one?
Just to give you a little intro, I started off how a lot of kids do, drawing stick figures on the wall (don't do that). I drew as much as I could as a way to escape and it flourished into something pretty cool as an adult.
I have always enjoyed character drawing and ended up going to school and getting my associate degree in graphic design. I realized I didn't want to be a graphic designer on the last day of my externship. :'D
Graphic design is great, but it's just not me. It felt corporate, mechanical, and too boxed in. I didn't feel like I had any creative freedoms and by the end of my externship, I was doubting my skills as a designer and an artist. The graphic design market was highly competitive (more like cutthroat) and oversaturated. To boot, after I graduated, I found out that on top of graphic design skills you have to be skilled in several different platforms for web design. Again, it's not that I can't do it all to a degree, but it brings me zero joy.
After not being able to get a job in my field I've been living life and working different customer service jobs. That basically fast forwards us to today.
I was befriended by Lysette and Juindalo and finally joined FA after hearing about it from another friend for years. I've drawn anthro stuff forever and apparently was an ignorant closet furry.
I draw a webcomic called 'Elliot's Journal' that is being hosted on Webtoons (like, subscribe, and rate 10 stars...excuse my shameless self-promotion). I started that like a year and a half ago and sank my soul into it. It didn't pan out like I had hoped, so that is why I am super happy to have discovered this community.
I had always wanted to be a commission artist and I feel like FA is right up my ally. I even started a second comic I'm hosting on FA exclusively for now. Go check that out as well (Lucky 13 in my gallery).
Anyway, I think that's good for now! I'll be posting more later! It's really nice to have met everyone so far and I look forward to seeing what projects I can come up with in the future.
I won't be posting art for at least the next week. :'(
My tablet pen fell onto a PILLOW today and hit just so precisely as to permanently destroy the pressure sensor on the inside (sad artist noises). So instead of wasting more money on a new pen for a tablet that I didn't love in the first place, I'm going to be investing in a new one. I have to wait until payday and bill budgeting, but hopefully I'll have enough left over to get something decent. I will be optimistic! :D If not I have an older tablet I can dig out of my closet. Wish me luck!
