should I vote?

General
I am in the middle of the ohio countryside, and it feels like a lot of effort to drive and mail a ballot.

So, yeah I think you should. But I'm not gonna call you any sort of traitor if you don't.
Also, might be worth checking what options you might have for early in-person voting or whatever else might be there.
I'm not educated enough about what Bidon or Bernie stand for to cast a vote for them, so I'm sitting this election out.
What everyone else says, if you know who you want to see in the oval office, do it, if you don't, then don't bother. Just my piece because this is an important topic.
EDIT: is it worth the gas thou? What Pyxaron said, if there's a mail option look into that
What is your theory of change if you dont vote? How will your actions of not voting lead to what you want to see in the world?
Opinions, not facts:
Honestly I prefer to stay out of politics because all it comes down to is people name calling each other like petty children, on a power playing level.
As much as I don't like my parents I do agree with them on the grounds of there just being no truely good candidates to vote for, anyone who would be good enough is simply not going to get far enough due to enough greed and corruption put against them.
Change? As far as I see this, this country is due a 2nd civil war any day now, that's the only way things are ever going to truly change.
EDIT: I have a sneaky suspicion Trump will attempt to pull a coup or something stupid to remain in power if he doesn't win the elections, eitherway this year is going out with a bang and at the very least it'll be interesting.
If I could put 2 votes on a ballet, I'd put em both down for Burnie and Biden just to give Trump less of a chance of winning, atleast they'll wanna do something VS the man with the wall fetish, but I can't do that sadly... If I'm wrong correct me thou
That said, there are substantive differences between the R & D parties that affect a large class of people. On the economic front, sure, the question is degree of caving to corporate power, but on the social justice front, the Dems are way better.
For example, the furry community has a large portion of LGBTQ+ people who will be at further risk of having their rights eroded in 4 more years of Trump, especially if they get to pick the open supreme court justice. If that happens, short of court packing, any major thing you might want happen, from climate change policy to universal health care, to gay marriage will be blocked or rolled back, regardless of who wins the congress for at least 20 years given the age of the justices on the court.
The dems have at least some olive branches towards criminal justice reform and other progressive policies and yes they dont go near far enough, but a step in the right direction is better than walking the other way. Unfortunately we have to work with the system we have, not the one that we wish we had.
That said, yes, I think if trump loses office, or if he can justify it somehow, he will attempt to halt the election or remain in power in some way. I also think that regardless of who wins there probably will be violence in the streets soon after. But we should still all do what we can in working towards a better future.
I get that with America the elections are often more than just a national affair, I guess having an opinion where you really have no say at all (not being a legal citizen) makes you wanna have that say (vote) even more.
In my eyes Demos are clearly more for the people, Reps for the rich, as I always saw it, but it often isn't enough. Like I honestly believe Obama tried to do as much good as he could, all while efforts were made under the table to undermine him just because of his skin color among other things.
Meanwhile we have Trump, who has done nothing but stagnate this country since he got into office, hell at one point he wanted to declare a state of emergency just to fund the wall when he couldn't otherwise. Like it would be one thing if maybe he spent some of his corporate resources to fund the wall that would have been a different story but knowing how these kind of people operate; they only spend what they can profit back several times, never for the better.
There was no way he was getting that thing finished in 1 term, and you think anyone after him is gonna continue it? I don't think so.
Yeah, my key word was "attempt", I think whatever Trump might do I doubt he'll succeed, and there likely will be blood, best keep a bird eye's view away from all that when it happens.
I might toss a vote but I think who gets the ballet from me, is more dependent on those close to me who can convince me in detail what candidate they think it should be, however most of these people are either elders or just not American (IE people who aren't going to matter in the long term), which puts a young adult like me in a strange position on deciding the future of the nation.
I'd rather not blind vote for someone, that's way more irresponsible than not voting at all.
Once you reach the general election though, at that point party matters over person. Both groups tend to vote along party lines and their platform is what's going to matter most. There's not the same levels of graduation within the group where two people might have acceptable policies but you need to figure out who has a better policy. As you said, the repubs are more for the rich than the dems. And you can pretty much take that to the bank.
Do you have a theory on how your not voting will affect the change you want to see?
Besides they're rigged anyway.
