Drawing board, my old friend, I've returned once more
16 years ago
I sent a copy of my story over to Malin, one of the guys who runs SofaWolf, and got a very polite, helpful e-mail telling me that they weren't going to take it right now. So, I think I have about two options: A-Break out the Ben & Jerry's and watch Lifetime original movies, B-Go into an angry tirade about how they don't understand me a la some emo band, or C-take some of the advice to heart and get to work. This is my first time writing a book, so I don't think my first draft was supposed to be my masterpiece. I'm gonna have to look at my stories with a much more critical eye. In my usual habit of focusing in on one detail out of 1000, I noticed the 'right now' that was so lovingly embedded into that first sentence. Maybe if I give the story a proper work over, they'll look at it again and reach a new verdict. Who knows; by the time I've reached that stage, maybe other publishers would be willing to take a shot at my book. It might be nice to have a 'furry book' published by a nonfurry publisher. Or maybe I should write the thing, then work on my autograph for the book signings.
