TL;DR of it: In-laws are considering selling the house we're living in, they just sold the one that we gave them $10k for to a house flipper, and now I'm in panic-brain mode and can't seem to stop thinking of everything I possibly need to do for this or that or the other thing. Looking into places to live, realizing that my 7-person family is going to struggle to find anywhere to rent given that most apartments have a 2-body-per-bedroom here, and they only offer up to 3 bedrooms. So I'm looking for a job.
In the meantime, and in the manic panic of all of this, I'm trying to work through my queue as best as I possibly can so I can open up further comms to start saving aside more and more money for a deposit or a down payment on a house. I'll find out next week I think whether they'll let us rent or buy the house that we're staying in. We don't pay rent, we pay all the bills except land taxes (not for lack of trying, mind...), so I don't know what is happening to us or for us. If we're homeless, my daughter and I are the only people with a place to go, and I'm scared for that to happen, I need these lovely people I live with and share my heart with. I'm just... frazzled.
Any help anyone can give, be it monetary or advice, it's greatly appreciated.
Donos can go here: https://paypal.me/soulcommissionss/ as friends/family with a note what it's for. Advice in the comments, please. I'm trying not to be chaos- and panic-brain over this, since they told us that they won't sell it *yet* but we'll have 90 days to figure out what to do if they change their mind. So. Fuck.

my first question is if they even have the legal grounds to sell it. also what do you mean they sold one that you gave them 10k for? like wtf?

OP
They owned the lot. 5 years ago they agreed to give us the title in exchange for us paying off the $10k debt they accrued trying to fix the place up, and ever since we've gone back and forth on neither party having the money to exchange the title to us. We are now living in their second property as the first fell into disrepair and we were unable to pay anyone to fix it because it wasn't in our name and they wouldn't touch it. So now they're considering selling this one, but.... we live paycheck-to-paycheck. And credit scores between all five adults aren't the greatest (mine due to medical debt) and finding anyone willing to help us out with a loan in the event they change their minds and sell this is going to be a bitch. I'm going to try and talk to them on Sunday or Monday and see if we can make sure we don't have to leave until we're absolutely ready, but could use a lot of help starting to save up/back for a downpayment.

Is there any housing programs in Texas you can apply for if they did sell the house?

I would say "yes" on the Housing Authority, if it weren't that we're not technically a "family". We're a poly group, and then there's our 'sister' who has lived with us since I was pregnant with my daughter, +2 kids. I'm actually about to call them and see if they'd be willing to work with us in the event of needing to do so.

Just got off the phone with them, actually; "no apartments big enough to accommodate us".

Hmm. You're probably not going to like this idea but you might nead to look for apartments in other surrounding cities for a place can accommodate a family of 7

It's one I've considered greatly; I've just gotten approved for a second interview with a company, I go in tomorrow. While I'm out and about, I'm going to try and figure out what I can do.
