From a career like yours... any advice on staying inspired?

You gotta charge your batteries every now and then. Take a break from the grind & wallow in the stuff you like best (not what the woke-scolds THINK you should like!). Rest & recharge. And don't be shy to try something completely new, just for lulz. God will not jump out of the closet and hit you with a baseball bat if you change things up.
Me, I don't stay inspired so much as hungry. If I don't post on Patreon, I don't get paid, and there are few things I won't do to avoid having to tell my dearest that I've failed miserably, so she'll have to carry the household burdens alone. Deadlines provide me with the boot up the ass most of us need from time to time.

Been a fan since I discovered your stuff back in 99. And something made me log in today when I normally ghost on FA myself and poke my head in around this time of year because you normally do post once yearly during this month. Love your stuff, and will continue to love it. It is a shame how 2020 seems to be taking its toll on everyone.

Well, this year is fucking insane to begin with si I can understand that you are not feeling it. I do agree with Krano: you need to take breaks and recharge, try something else for a bit and once the drive comes back, experiment with the art just for the fun of it.

So yeah dont push yourself, if its not fun then its not fun, take a break and come back to it later.

Exactly. Even when I would sweat my self-imposed deadline, it was still fun deep down. The fact that it wasn't fun... that means the work's gonna suffer.

I tried getting into 3d and bounced HARD. I know in my heart that's the way to go for somebody like me with decent design chops but crappy draftsmanship.

Well, I never considered myself a very good artist. I just put my head down and mechanically tried to assemble techniques and design elements into a satisfying whole. I'm proof you can make up for a lack of talent with a lot of practice :)

Works for me, I've got talent with writing but none with art, so I'll just put the effort where I need it!
