Anyone out there?
FA has always been a lonely place for me. I had thought DeviantArt was bad, but here, when I upload something, I am lucky to get a fav, let alone a comment. And this is despite making honest attempts to connect with other artists by leaving comments on their works, too.
And with FA forums indefinitely on hiatus, it has almost been impossible to get any feedback on my stuff.
That being said, what I find is that, every time I upload something, I always get a baseline of ~19 views on my works. This could be due to two factors:
1) The amount of time my work spends one the front page of FA, and the amount of time it spends on the first few pages of the browse function.
2) The number of people actively paying attention to my gallery.
I have also found that the number of views increases with the sophistication of the work, with my most sophisticated work,

earning the highest rate of views I have ever gotten (73 in a month) as of the time of writing this, (plus a comment, which are extremely rare). It is worth noting, however, that despite getting fewer views, a less sophisticated variation earned the most favorites of any of my other works, by far:

And this puzzles me. It doesn't even have a background! All I did was take the original central character, and change her eyes. But that's what everyone really likes. Ok...I guess... I mean, don't get me wrong. I appreciate that so many people like it. It's just odd to me.
On the other hand, it is not lost on me that certain works might be more popular than other due to...let's just call it...special interests :).
Woefully missing from all this, however, is feedback (except for the occasional comment). And that makes me somewhat sad, since I like to interact with other artists.
Now, there is one artist, who has been really kind, and from time, to time, favorites another of my pieces. Interestingly, though, she is not a watcher, according to my stats.
But, other than that, I just hear so little from others. And I get it. Who has time to comment on work with the way our world currently is?
Still, whenever I see those 19 views, I always wonder: Who are you, and why did you view my work? Are you a repeat visitor to my gallery? Did you like my work, and silently download it? Were you initially intrigued by the thumbnail, but disappointed once you saw the full resolution picture?
And what of those on whose works I left a comment, or whose works I favorited? Did you take a look at my gallery? If you did, did you find anything appealing? Alternatively, did you briefly look at my stuff, and find it not worth your time?
Anyway, if you are reading this, and you have time, and feel like being kind, please let me know you're out there. Thank you.
