I feel like this is a chicken/egg scenario.
It's an understood that job searching sucks ass and when I was young, it was beaten into my head that "ya gotta get that degree so employers will believe you're smart enough for the job".
So now I'm getting that degree and lo and behold, it's almost worthless? All these listings on the myriad of job sites are pretty much the same. "We want 2 years experience minimum, preferable 5 years experience. Bachelor's optional."
Knowledge is Knowledge for one thing. What does it matter if you read it from a book or had it happen to you? Second, if you only take experienced people then how can that be sustainable if you have no new blood coming in?
What is it about this society needing to have someone ready to go as soon as they step foot in the door? What happened to investing in people? Not even investing money in stocks is a guarantee and that shit is popular as hell.
I understand the theory behind it but it's just so goddamn short sighted. Where did this come from? Did "need experience" beat this into us or is society is so demanding of "satisfaction now" that it bled into the job market?

Also, job searching is tits. Just fake it till you make it for your resume. That's what I did.
Also I agree. But I feel like I have enough backing to be noted. Member of the Student Conduct Board, three honor societies, etc. Also kinda hard to fake working in civil service >_>
Also YEEEEH. It's why I'm glad IT has more "Let's do a test to see if you can tell people how to turn a computer off and on again" in it's interview process than "Did you work at walmart for 10 years of your life or naaaah lmfao"
I've actually found a place hiring in Washington (State) where you actually go through a test on forensics and I still have all my notes from my crime scene investigation class plus criminal theories and whatnot. But they're also like "we would like at least two years experience of fingerprint analysis". I'm just gonna try to push the whole "I'm so smrt" thing
At least in my field, they put the "Years Required" bit to scare away timid job seekers.
..... I don't know why that that is a "thing to do" but apparently it is. I'd just apply anyways and say fuck it. If you want to, just say "FAF survivor" on your resume and that should cover any years experience needed.
Hey man if you wanna chat sometime then hmu with your discord or telegram w/e. I hope you're doing well <3
