History holds many lessons...

When misguided public opinion honors what is despicable and despises what is honorable, punishes virtue and rewards vice, encourages what is harmful and discourages what is useful, applauds falsehood and smothers truth under indifference or insult, a nation turns its back on progress and can be restored only by the terrible lessons of catastrophe. – Frederic Bastiat
In 1851, a group of citizens, including a large number of businesspersons, under the leadership of Sam Brannan, formed the first San Francisco Vigilance Committee. The city government had failed to curb GANGS of outlaws known as the "Regulators" or "Hounds," who preyed upon the inhabitants of the city and were suspected of having set a series of fires that had destroyed much of the city. The committee promptly sought out several of the alleged outlaws and sentenced them to death, deportation, or whipping.
Govt., being the Tax Payer $$$-suckling parasite it is, doesn't have to do anything, but if 'We, the People', DARE do their jobs to protect/defend ourselves against enemies (both foreign AND domestic), 'We, the People', are made criminals and enjoy the full weight of the maligned Govt./Judicial System's self-appointed power and authority.
Ain't modern day Amerika GREAT, Comrades?!
Same with the Courts/D.A./A.G./et al. They won't do their damned jobs, adhering to our Constitution and Bill of Rights, they're worse than inept.
The American People trusted too much, for far too long, while turning a blind eye on far too many things.
Govt. and the Judiciary were never supposed to obtain the degree of power and influence they have, under our Nations' foundation principles (as outlined in the Constitution and Bill of Rights).
So now we get precisely what we're living with, now.
Yes, things are spiraling downward, and that momentum has been increasing for years.
Keep yer powder dry!
We as a society can or should not sentence an individual to death for stealing a loaf of bread.
I do believe that every Individual has only 3 opportunities in life * to correct the harm that he or she has done, then sentenced to death. "Depending on the gravity of the crime that it has been committed"
Society has a right to punish & sentence an Individual for the crime that he or she has done, even so, that sentence to death is not desirable & some may say Barbaric it serves a purpose, that a society has a limit for crime and it will do what it has to be done to save that society.
