FA Whore?

I've been thinking a bit.. Yes I know that's a very dangerous thing to do, but I've done it anyway.. I have a LiveJournal as well, and on there I've noticed what I would call LJ Whores.. People who just shamelessly add friends left and right, hoping some will add them back just because they can, thus ending up with thousands of "friends", of which maybe a couple of hundreds are mutual friends..
Now the thing I've been wondering is.. Since I'm not an artist, and is unlikely to publish anything anytime soon, maybe except for stories as I do occasionally write those, but nevermind that, since I haven't written any to put on here.. Thing is, I add the artists that I really think are great, and that I want to keep an eye on, to see what they've done since last, and in some cases I'm even interested in their lives as well, so I follow their journals as well.. But I don't contribute much myself, other than the odd, and probably usually lame, comment on a submission or journal entry..
So.. Am I an FA Whore? Or am I simply using FA the way it was meant to be used? I know very few will read this, but hey.. I needed to at least get it off my chest.
Oh and also.. Does anyone ever -read- stories posted on FA?

Well, FA really isn't a great medium for writers, and since SEARCH isn't working (has been down for ages and probably will be down for quite some time as it's apparently capable of slowing the system considerably), it makes it that much harder, regardless of how stories are categorized. Unlike a piece of art, it's hard to judge whether a story is worth reading from a thumbnail.
Still ... I do give stories a glance, and I try to find something nice to say. I can't always ... but when I can, I do.

As I understand it, that is the system they tried and found slowed the system. Although a search on a single indexed keyword would be fast, a search on multiple keywords requires joins and temporary tables and ... it was slowing the system considerably. Of course, that was also before the new server, and the system was a tad stressed anyway.
Perhaps a better approach might be user-ratings, more similar to ebay or yiffstar ...
Must think about this. There's a good idea there somewhere if it will just come forward to my conscious.

As for the rest, I would say you're using FA as intended. This isn't just a site for networking artists, but for artists and fans alike.
I actually prefur written furry to pictures, but pictures are faster and easier to enjoy, so.
Get a icon art to use for the thumbnail that goes with the story style you are posting. either this icon on all your stories, or better yet a different one for each style or type.... maybe one that is the main char. so we could follow the char or story lines easier.
and having a contents in the description really helps.

If you watch someone it is because you like what they do, heck thats the way I go about it, and I don't expect any of them to watch back, some do. Some watch me without me watching them, their art simply doesn't appeal to me, but seemingly my writing apeals to them, dispite the fact that I'm just starting.
FA whore you are not trust me.
And yes some people do read the stories, I do, and I know there are good writers here as well.
