30 more days of writing
As commented a couple journals back, I've been doing another impromptu 30 days of writing sprint, this time ending during #nanowrimo. That 30 day window ended yesterday, so let's do some numbers:
Unicorn Hunter: 6186
1001 date: 1881
Kirin Hunter: 6638
Total: 14705
Naturally, a bit of explanation is needed for the yet to be released items. 1001 date is my working file name for a yet to be implemented Occupational Hazards date scene. I'd guess that I'm about 3/4 of the way through the scene. Because the subject of the date has yet to be introduced, I had to fork a couple lines of the story depending on the subject's gender, so that increased the word count slightly. Kirin Hunter is the sequel to Unicorn Hunter. I'm less certain as to how far through the story I am as I don't have a 'hard' list of plot points I want to fill in, but I'd guess it's somewhere between 1/2-2/3 of the way done. I'm not certain if I gave Max (from Unicorn Hunter) an idiot ball or not, but he is certainly living up to his sociopath roots. I'm also discovering that the protagonist (Alice) has a serious case of snark.
Taking things a step back, it is interesting to compare my output to last year. Unicorn Hunter (by itself) is nearly as long as the 3 released parts of Camp Leaning Trees combined. The other comparison of note is that I again didn't finish all of the works started. I suppose this tracks with last year, as my initial intent both years was to complete the first story written. And in both cases, my muse had enough of a head of steam that it was able to launch down the path to a sequel, even if it wasn't finished in the target window. I guess the takeaway is that I just need to think bigger when trying to come up with something for a #nanowrimo timespan.
