I'LL SLEEP WHEN I FIGURE OUT WHAT MY ART STYLE LOOKS LIKE
5 years ago
I know this isn't Twitter and also no one follows me on here, but I'm posting this anyway because I feel like it's kind of... pertinent. So, consider it a PSA of sorts; particularly when I start taking commissions.
In a phrase, I find myself constantly living through a crisis of aesthetic.
I simply have no idea what I like. Or rather, I like so many things that I absolutely cannot marry them together in a harmonious way. That's why I have three fursonas! I just cant contain all the different aesthetics and concepts I identify with in a singular character design, and I think that's a problem that also carries over to my art style.
I just can't be satisfied with the way my art looks. I can enjoy it, appreciate it, I like my work, I'm proud of it, but I always end up drifting. Nothing I do has any consistency because I can't decide on a singular look.
Cute and round, edgy and erratic, sharp pixellated lines or smooth antialiased ones, cell shading or paint, cartoony or realistic... It's really frustrating!!
Totally screaming into the void here, but I wonder if there's anything I can do about it...
...Hm. Probably not.
