Animation stuff
A little something I've been wondering lately: I've been interested in animation and the creation of animated movies ever since I can remember. However, as I'm from germany (you know, that pesky little country somewhere in the middle of europe), where animation is mainly something considered to be unprofitable arts, I've never really been inclined to get in touch with the animation industry here.
So I've been wondering lately: In case I might be interested in studying animation in the US, is there any place (a website, college) where I can obtain some more in-detail informations about that topic? ^^
And just in case I'm seeing all this too blue-eyed: does it even make sense to study animation these days? Been hearing a lot about how hard it is to get into the industry, which I guess is true. But yet, I think I'd really like to give it a try, you never know... ;3
By the way, less than a month to go until my next birthday :D And visiting my buddy
ipoke in Vienna next week, really looking forward to that as well.

I found this website, which lists animation schools. Hope it helps.
Sheridan in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Then if you wanted to get into 3D Animation, you have Full Sail in Orlando, Florida, U.S.
(Which is where I graduated from.) :)

I'm at one of them.
i heard lincon is quite good though
Maybe a little bit of Korea?
since you mention that school, do you speak from experience when you say you get to learn a lot there?
I moved to canada specifically for this school ((one of the best in the world))
vancouver is english
there's also sheradin that's in Toronto which is great.
I personally LOVE vancouver, this city lives on the entertainment industry, just talking with a friend on the bus about movies and we ended up talking to 3 other complete strangers who didn't even know each other about animation styles; 2 of them worked for dreamworks before and the third I can't remember the name of his studio.
movies, games, tv shows, cartoons, comic books, music, anything even slightly artistic you can find here :D
There's also a LOT more to animation industry than just the actual animating. There's storyboard, background design, layout, character design, clean-up animation, directing, editing, sound design, etc. If you're interested, try a class or two and see how you like it. :) There are also animation tracks at USC in California, and a graduate animation program at UCLA.
Course I'm no expert. My background is in the sciences. It could never hurt to ask some college advisor Germany-side for advise. It is their job after all, for students and non-students alike.

Do you happen to know if it's possible to apply for special loans while studying? Here in germany, we've got something called "BaFög", which means the state actually pays a certain amount of the expenses, I guess something similar exists in the US or Canada? ^^

I guess it's the same with digital animation though... a lot of people working on one thing means it gets finished way faster >.>
If I may ask, since you're not in the animation industry, what kind of work do you do now instead? ;)
OH! If you want to enroll in an online course, go see http://www.animationmentor.com/?gcl.....FZho5QodJmXIjw I have seen their class reels on youtube and they're amazing. For the 3d animation they use a program that is similar to what the guys over at Pixar use.
I hope this helps you. Good luck!
