By all means, take a sabbatical and be with him.

Tip: Record Him with your phone (both Video or Voice) saying "He loves you." or something dear like that, so you can have His voice with you. You can even let Him give you good advice to better your life even! This way, you will have His spirit with you just a bit closer...and won't have to forget His voice, if that is even possible. Eventually, He will live on in your Heart!
