My cat is sick. π
Forgive me for my nagging, I really need support now. If you are offended by topics related to the disease and suffering of domestic animals, do not read the text below.
The last week has become an incessant nightmare. It all started with the fact that my cat began to lose weight very quickly. In a very short time, she turned from a healthy cat into a walking skeleton. Of course, I immediately went to the vet. The more we conducted examinations and analyzes, the more a frightening picture of her condition was revealed. At the moment it is known that all her blood counts are very poor. Dangerously low red blood cells, dangerously high (10 times higher than normal!) platelets. The ultrasound did not show any obvious signs of cancer, so tomorrow I will take the cat to another clinic, where she will have a second ultrasound.
Every day was worse and worse. On the first day, she was diagnosed with diabetes. "Not so bad, you can live," I thought. It's easy to check the cat's blood sugar, feed her every two hours, and inject insulin in the morning and evening. I can handle this. However, on the first day, she was not able to give blood for analysis - her blood pressure was too low. So the blood test was done at the third appointment. And this analysis showed that the number of erythrocytes is five times less than the norm. The veterinarian suggested that it was a parasite. It is also generally tolerable, at least a treatment plan can be suggested. Antibiotics, drugs to increase hemoglobin levels, immunostimulating drugs, and possibly a blood transfusion can help, although it can be very expensive. At this stage, I also did not lose my optimism. But at the fourth appointment, the veterinarian was already afraid to put forward any assumptions at all. Strange, if ambiguous, ultrasound results, as well as an abnormally high level of platelets in the blood, hint at possible cancer, but it is impossible to say for sure. Now we are stuck in the unknown and are waiting for a consultation with another doctor. At this time, the cat weakens every day. For the third day I have been feeding her against her will, she herself refuses to eat. The cat's temperature and blood pressure drop more and more. I do not know how long she will still fight and whether it is worth making her fight. π
