Some long due journal

Hello everyone,
This is my first journal in more then 3 years, not that I do not come to FA anymore, I nearly come every day, but I have not much interesting stuff to share for some time...
My creativity side is on a all time low, some time I feel some spark coming, idea for a project.... but life drag me eventually back to this no creativity zone.
Of course 2020 was some strange year to say the less, but I consider my self to be one of the lucky person who still have a job and working from home, in fact saving around 1.5 to 2 hours of bus everyday because of that, and after more then for years on a list, I finally receive a promotion beginning next years, it less about money then finally having a recognition for my work and having a news challenges a head of me.
But I am not a exception went it about the lockdown and stuff, living along in a apartment is not always fun for me, event if I am a introverts, I still need some kind of human interaction other then speaking job on voice chat with co-workers, so I do some online gaming with friends talking via team speak and Discord, also visited my parents and a friend family during the summer, went it was still allowed too, it was the last time I was able to physically interact with another human, because young kids don't care about the 6 feet rule went it about to have attention and interaction :)
But one of the big thing that help me pass the years not much more insane that I am usually is my VR headset, for many years virtual reality was kind of a niche interest, and a expensive one to say the less, but event if it still a pricy hobby, it becoming more and more affordable for general public, passing from the cheapest PC VR headset for PC (using a computer with a beefy video card) for around 500$ us to a stand along version with better resolution that also able to be connect to a PC starting at 299$ us, what is truly impressive...
But why I am talking about VR headset to fight the loneliness you will ask? Be cause everyone know that all a VR head set is for is to play Beat saber right? lol :) Joke a side, with the lack of human interaction, furcon and furmeet, the furry community did not have it easy this year, went the official hand shake of your fandom is Hugs that not rely a surprise... But something also true with Furry is that we are probably the most creative fandom on this earth, and lot of this creativity hade be moving to a game call VRChat, for people who do not know what VRChat is, this is a program/game that make you interact with other people in a 3D space, this game is playable from a normal PC with out VR, but bring it full potential using VR, and ever better VR with full body tracking.
Another interesting aspect of the game is that people could upload content, that could be custom avatars (what in the furry world will be a equivalent of a fursuit), or a entire world (instance where you can go to interact with other player), some impressive stuff have come from furry artist in both category, like totally news specie created only for VRChat, conversion of original one, totally custom, Furcon hotels recreate in detail like Virtual Furence world, special world having furry in mind like Fury hub, etc etc... You have to see it to understand all the creativity involve in those 3D avatars and worlds, that truly impressive.
I personally meet with a furry group every Friday night, having a drink, lessening to music and chatting with other furry. I am so invest in this game and it social aspect, that I decided to buy a new VR headset with better resolution and full body tracking capacity, what put my immersion to a new level.
So, if you are already in VRChat or decide to start playing, come to say hello if you see me in a public instance or send me a friend invite (preferably ask me with a FA note first sense it always a bad idea to just accept random friend invite if you do not want true to come crashing in your furry party), my username is Alganbord.
Well I guess it all for now, I think I will try to write more often, what that should not be too hard...

Like you, despite being a lonely derg, I need social interactions sometimes. And I'm sure there's many others like that too.
I was myself thinking to get a VR Set, but I don't know if I should wait for a better gear or grab something straight away for Christmas. It's a bit difficult to decide. Do you have any recommendations?
I've also started using VRChat in Desktop mode, getting with other furries every Friday like you. We should definitely spend some time together at some point.

Everything depend of you computer, specially you GPU but also how much you want to spend and hoe much time you can wait, to have a VR headset right now, you can go with a oculus Quest 2 (Oculus rift s is also a option but it the same price for a inferior produce in some way) but if you want to fully enjoy you will need a cable between you PC and the headset (sold separately sense it a stand alone headset)
You can also try to find a used one for cheap Windows mixed reality one are a good choice to begging with, they easily rely cheap to buy, have a nice resolution, easy to set up, need less powerful PC, the down side is the controller are not as good as some more other, they do not have finger tracking and general tracking is a little more limited, but not at the point to cause problem, also they drain battery as crazy, also the head set generally have a little a much limited field of view and had to get suit spot, if the space between you eyes is smaller or larger then the majority of people, you probably hade bad experience.
For the other choice, that going much more pricy, and lot of wait time to get one, like the Valve Index, at less 8 weeks of waiting for around 1500$ can including the 200$ of importing fee, there also othee HTC valve choice that go around 900$ US or 1200 US depending of the model..... there also a interesting one coming called the Decagear 1, including finger tracking and eye/face tracking, specially made for VRChat.
