Okay. before anything else, considering how rough 2020 was for the world, Ii sincerely hope anyone reading this has a VERY good 2021.
I may wish these things all the time during each new years... but, again... given how outright horrible 2020 got for the world, I emphasize my well wishes to all 10 thousand fold over the usual holiday wishes.
And, let's not forget that here in just the USA alone, there were some roughly 360 some-odd thousand people who died of Covid-19 before they ever lived long enough to see 2021. Might have even been getting closer to 370 thousand right who died of Covid near the end of 2020.
Either way, the point is that you and I... we're the lucky ones compared to those people.
Of course, for those idiots who genuinely believe that Covid-19 is just some 'hoax" I guess all those death toll numbers... every last one of them... they're just not real. Because, to some morons, they apparently genuinely think Covid Isn't real.
Umm... yeah. No, I don';t think so. And, this is coming from someone who had Covid-19 back in late October and early November of last year. Me, and my fiancee Tamias, in fact.
So, I urge you all... Please stay safe... and, please try to care about your fellow human beings a little, not just yourself.
I say this because it seems to me that here in the US, things were FAR worse then they ever had to be during this horrible pandemic all due to that long standing, atypical "every man for himself" type of rugged individualism here in 'Muricah that stops us from coming together fully and completely united for or against things we all need to get on the same page for.
Like, for example... treating a disease as a "hoax" compared to using your head and actually understanding that just because you may not have caught it, and died from it, doesn't mean your somehow NOT at risk for that happening to you.
And, it all comes down to a disease that has chances of being deadly for anyone who gets it treated as something that is somehow "political".
Thing is, It's not. Politicians in the US may have treated it that way... and, people too gullible and weak willed to think for themselves just bought into all the lies, and willing got aboard the hype train.....
But, it doesn't change the fact that in 2021, curing this Covid crud needs to take the absolute TOP priority. And, also of equal importance is getting something other than chump change to the people in order to prevent people from being evicted from their homes. And, end up possibly even starving out in the cold on the streets.
Over the years, I've heard some people make the phony baloney claim that "In Americas, we take care of our own". Well, that is simply NOT true. In fact, that's total bull fecal matter.
Making a better country begins with people becoming better.
And, not just politicians or the rest of the 1 percent... but ALL of us. If this somehow doesn't matter to you, I don't see why it wouldn't.
Some might say "Look, Phloppy... I'm just not involved with politics, okay?"
Sure. That's all fine and dandy. No prob, bruh. Umm... just one thing, though. You not being involved with politics does NOT somehow stop politics from being involved with YOU and your life.
Anyways... aside from political stuff, and pandemics... let's also take a long, honest look at our own fandom ranks in 2020.
Seems like it was just yet another year where too many of the snide, young punk furs listened to no one but themselves and their fellow egotistical "Cool kids" in the high school hallways that the furry fandom has been turned into thanks to too many of them.
But, hey... what would a greymuzzle of 50 years on this Earth know about anything, right? I mean, to the hipsters and popufurs of the fandom, I'm just "old". And, what do old people know about anything, right?
Or, when I'm not old, then I'm just simply an outright nobody because I'm not a fursuiter, and don't have tons of big name furs i hang out with everyday online somewhere.
Oh, to be young and stupid again. Meh. *Shrugs* Whatever.
If nothing else, as long as such obnoxious idiots leave me alone, and don't try to start in on Tamias, then things are more peaceful for it.
Hmph... peace. Peace is something we also DESPERATELY need a LOT more of in 2021. And, not just in the furry fandom... not just in chest-thumping, yeehaw conservative Amurica-land... but peace all over the world.
Still, I know better than to hold out waiting for senseless people to miraculously come to their senses, somehow. And so, thanks to people like that... there can never be true peace anywhere.
Also, the trolls all over the Internet have been a long time part of the same problem of lack of peace as well.
But, if nothing else... considering I survived everything from my biological father dying back in September... to catching Covid... suffering with it for some time, and eventually overcoming it... plus, having to deal my my fiancee's dad being in a vehicle crash hat he's lucky didn't kill him... it has been a VERY rough year for me and Tamias, also.
And, I feel that none of us should figure that just because 2020 is over that somehow automatically means that within a few days or weeks after 2021 beings, everything will be all sunshine, gummy drops, and triple rainbows.
If 2020 was bad directly or indirectly through the doings of us, the human race... then, let's stop doing things that make matters worse, and START doing things that make matters better.
For yourself, and for your fellow human beings. And, not just your immediate tight-knit little inner circle of friends and family... but, for total strangers alike.
After all, they're human beings same as you are. They're struggling hard same as you. And, like yourself, they also could do with people cutting them a break once in a while.
Anyway... though I usually stay straight-edged in terms of my approach to alcohol or drugs of any sort... admittedly, this year has been so bad that even I... they guy that has spouted about staying away from drugs and alcohol... really could use a good stiff drink or 2 after a year like this.
YES... it really has been THAT BAD.
And, I'm just glad I had Tamias by my side through 2020. Because, the only thing that could have been any worse is if i went through all those bad things in 2020 without him by my side.
But also, having good friends like Manic Raccoon (Brisket) and Tavi Munk and Ozzie Kit Skunk, Spats Bear, Harley Badger, and Kenny Kitsune, and very select few other furs has certainly helped.
Not just in 2020, but through the years in general.
And, thinking of "through the years", and my one and only Tamias... here's a VERY fitting song that fits things right about now... more than ever after a year like 2020...
Not normally a fan of country music. But Kenny Rogers did songs that weren't exactly truly in the country music genre. And, between his song "the Gambler' and that "Through the years" song, it shows he did more than just country.
Or, how about a remix of an old classic New Year's tune?
-or-
Oh, and getting back to the alcoholic drink thing... this will mark the first time (As far I can remember) that I will try a glass of wine. Red wine, to be exact.
And, no... please don't get me wrong here.
I'm certainly NOT looking to get "sloshed' or "blitzed' to the point where I act like this guy...
Orson Welles: "MAAAHAAA the French..."
*Takes brief pause, then finishes the original thought*
"...champagne".
lol *facepalms* Btw, Orson Welles is the same guy who played Unicron in the animated Transformers movie from 1986.
Anyway... again... I feel I can't emphasize it enough here... PLEASE take care of yourself, and others when possible as much as possible... and, most of all, let's all try to work at making 2021 a better year for everyone than 2020 was.
See you on the other side of this year (I write this at just before 7PM Eastern Time in the USA).
Or, if you're reading this by the time 2021 has officially hit in your time zone... let me say that I'm glad to see you survived the dumpster fire aboard the train wreck that was 2020.
And, I guess It's best that we all remember the old Samurai mantra at this point...
"That which does not kill me, only makes me stronger".

And, yes... like so many others, I too sure hope 2021 is better for all of us.
We (hooman beings) need to come together and be willing to work together to make things better.
Or, to put it another way....

Yeah, I kind of miss being young and stupid myself... Then again back in those days I still thought I was straight, so my sex life was miserable and lonely. Then again, it's still miserable and lonely now, just that it would have been a lot more miserabler (is that a word? It is now!) and lonelier.
Ok, this is kind of getting away from me now, so change of subject...
Wishing you a really epic 2021! :D
*offers socially-distant virus-free virtual bunnyhugs* <3
Yup. We were all young and stupid at one point. Some are still at that point in their life, and that's fine.
But, we know how it goes by now.
Sooner or later, after a point, harsh reality smacks us all across the face VERY hard sooner or later, and brings us down off our high horse, and back down to planet reality.
It's just how it goes, of course.
Anyway, for what It's worth... I'm glad you're at least less "miserabler".
I wish you only happiness and peace. Whether in 2021, or any other year. ^.^
Likewise, I hope 2021 is a good year for you also, Cael. *Bunny hugs*
