To be honest, I don't know either how to change the username! I also wish to change my username to Anuhea-Silverheart, mioulgaw is just a stupid username I ever had!🤦🏼‍♂️

I want to say out the gate that I have zero experience in this regard, but I can still hopefully offer useful advice maybe <w>

I think the best thing to do would be to make a quick piece of art (since a big image will grab people's attention better than a journal/tweet/whatever on it's own) announcing that you'll be changing your username in X amount of time (maybe two weeks?). Follow the image with a link to a journal/tweet/whatever, that explains it in further detail for those who want to know why you're changing your username (this way even those who do not read the journal will still have a basic idea of what is going on). Repost the image a second time halfway through the waiting time, and then one final time on the day before the username change.

Following the actual change, perhaps place in your bio (or whatever the equivalent is) that you're formerly SpottedTigress (or whichever old username you have for whichever sites you're changing your username on) for a while, and then remove it after a month, or whenever you feel like it's best to do so owo

1- make an announcement a few days beforehand to make sure people are aware of it a while before you actually do it, so theyre not caught off guard
2- start on your smaller platforms and work your way up to the biggest platform
3- put in your bio "previously called _____" so people are aware if they didn't get the message
4- if possible, keep the name similar to your old one, but it's okay if it's not, as long as you let people know beforehand

Well I mean has the same username since forever. I only changed it once cause of something else. But you should keep your name that way your easier to identify

I've done it a few times in random places. My big advice with it that's I'm sure others have mentioned already is announcing the change beforehand and afterward making sure people have enough of a chance to recognize you. There's going to be people no matter what who just don't see the messages but I think the main thing is just being clear about it so as many people as possible don't get confused.

That summer, I dumped all of the previous usernames I had and chose this one, wanting a single username across all of the places I'm active on and wanting to have a username that said to people exactly what sort of thing they can expect to see from my pages. I was also able to keep this name when I changed Fursonae two years later.

This meant I had to transfer almost everything from my previous account over to this one. It took a month to do this, as I'd only posted a set number of files per day to avoid overwhelming myself and my followers.

Do not change usernames if it is simply change for its own sake. This is something that should be thought about carefully, given your username will be one of the first things your audience sees when they go looking for who made the lovely artwork. Consider what your current username means to yourself and your audience and what a new username can convey that your current one cannot, and vice versa.

I was and still am in a internet community who knows each other on a personal level thanks to frequent meetings in restaurants and other places.
Changing the username was easy and at the same time, next to impossible. Whatever you put in into that small little name box, those who know you in reality will still and only call you the very first name you had.

Changing the user name is not only a new word at the side of a avatar icon. It is, especially here on FA, close to get a new indentity. And there is the risk that some watchers won't fallow you.
Marzie is a spotted Tigress. For many, she will be linked to this name for a long time, maybe forever.

My advice is, create a acccount with your new name and cease uploading on your old one at the same time. It will be in the past as soon the new one is online.
Moving all the artwork from the old to new place would take too long. So put a link to your new place at the top of your profile description.
I support the idea of  Silvia_Nexus with a name changing artwork. That should be the last thing uploaded on the old place.
Also change the link in the description of your recent art into the new account.

I had to make a new DA account a while back because the password recovery was being stupid; does that count?

I have a few times, but they're all technically the same. Mine started out as a gamer name and its stuck as both gaming and furry ever since. My fursona name however is "Erupture" instead of "Fissureeruption" Well, if you look closely enough, it's shortened. "Erupt" from "Eruption" and "ure" from "Fissure." Clever, I must say myself. I also have different variations of my usernames. But it's your call. Whatever you choose, it's your username, your fursona.

I made a change back in 2016 when I settled on my business name! The transition was pretty easy on other social media like Twitter since they let you edit your username~ Here on FA was tricky as I needed to make a new account with the new username and then manually transfer pieces over chronologically and best record the original post dates, it took a long while but I feel it was worth it? ; u ; I've seen other artists make a new account and then link to their last one for the gallery, so there are options here too! I didn't personally have any trouble with anyone not knowing who I was or who was upset about my move that I remember~ Anyway, whatever changes you might make, I hope you love them and any account transitions you do go smoothly!
