Ok everyone, honest question: why do so many leave shouts thanking people for favoriting things?

While I appreciate the thanks and am flattered when I get favorites, I don't understand the thinking. Aside from showing the creator I like something, I use them to either save or track to read later. I guess my philosophy is that favoriting is a way of thanking instead of something to be thanked for.

Watches I get. That is different to me, so I get thanking for that.
