When to Block Someone
5 years ago
If someone does something bad to you here is when you should block them.
* If they won't stop.
* If they won't apologize.
* If they won't change.
* If they can't be reasoned with.
* If they did something really bad that requires an immediate block like sending you illegal links or threatening you.
Like if someone keeps trolling, being rude, stealing art, spamming, harassing you, demanding stuff, etc. of you and they won't stop, or change, or apologize, or be reasoned with then block them.
But if you two can work things out don't block them!
If they don't meet that criteria or something similar to it THE DON'T BLOCK THEM.
People have blocked me and others for REALLY STUPID reasons as I said before at one time or another.
* For disagreeing with them.
* For minor infractions.
* For misunderstanding something.
* For making a mistake.
* Even if you haven't EVEN INTERACTED WITH THEM OR THEIR FRIENDS!
* Any other bullshit.
People can freaking shadow ban you which is annoying and degrading as hell! They draw nice art, you try to fave it and get the "You're blocked." message and on sites like Deviantart if you get blocked you can't even VIEW that artists work.
I swear I'm getting tired of this blocking shit. I've discovered recently I been blocked by at least 3 artists I've either never interacted with but have seen their work, interacted very little and was getting along or never even seen until now.
Is the block button entirely at your discretion? Yes and it should be! If the site admins just made you kiss and make up with everyone you've blocked even if you blocked for a stupid reason then the site would be too bureaucratic!
But should you block for stupid reasons? Absolutely not! Blocking innocent people is wrong because they didn't do anything. I mean imagine coming to fave a picture (which I kind of already mentioned above) and it turns it you're blocked so you can't! That can make you feel like shit because not only can you not fave a good picture you may feel as if you did do something wrong even if you didn't! Imagine feeling like you did something to deserve being blocked but you really didn't do anything! That hurts!
I bet if these blockheads who block for stupid reasons got a taste their own behavior maybe they wouldn't feel so good. Maybe they'd even realize how they could have made others feel. People need to have more of a conscience rather than an "I did it so that's all that matters!" attitude.
I've seen submissions like these about unnecessary blocking where some people sneer and say things like "You can't abuse the block button!" or "My block my decision!" or "I block who I want!" and to that I say "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should!"
As I said above the block button should be at your discretion but blocking someone for stupid shit is rude, demeaning and disappointing as hell!
It's important to realize it's easier to block or reject people than to be blocked or rejected. Basically it's easier to dish out than to take. I mean when you block or reject someone for anything you're the one in power and they're the ones in submission.
It's easier to hurt than to be hurt.
The more unreasonable people are the more people aren't going to even bother interacting with anybody. I mean why take a risk getting hurt?
Only be harsh when you have to.

Genuinely this disheartens me because I’m just trying to get somewhere in life, the same with my hyperlinks on here and Deviantart, why can’t people just understand.
Yeah I want people to understand, I want a more caring, smart, reasonable, world but that's pretty hard to get even in the art world.
Hopefully I can make something happen.

Those who block people for bullshit reasons are a disgrace the human race. I've been blocked for petty reasons, but in the end, it's just gonna bite themselves in the arse. There's really nothing more to say about them. There's not enough vulgar adjectives to describe them.
I just got blocked just for asking if someone liked a franchise from a picture they had of one of its characters.
Like what?
