I wish I could make a firmer statement...

... but frankly there's a reason I don't tend to trust people who sum up their attitude on this in a twitter-friendly bite sized chunk. I tried to write this out long form earlier and got 1/4 the way through a small essay and gave up.
I think my profile says it best frankly.

I am highly distrustful of antis and fanpol of most forms, despite them mostly, I hope, having good intentions.
I believe to be responsible in fiction there a number of things one must do, not least Reading The Room.
Which is why I don't truck with art dealing in... slavery porn of POC, nazi imagery, bigotry etc... despite being fine with non-con. I'm not going to get into the details here, but at this point, in this climate, if you're still openly posting images of your OC in a nazi uniform, I will just presume you're not here out of an appreciation for historical uniforms and will block you. Likewise if I see, for instance, "anti-feral porn" on your profile, and you're following me, with a lot of feral porn in his gallery, I will not presume you mean "anti feral porn, but only that which personally squicks me out, the details of which you'll have to guess" I will just presume you're hate following me and block you. If you really must let people know what repulses you, then at least be specific when your feelings on the topic obviously change depending on those details.
I also work on the basis that non-con in fiction is either fine, or it's not, no one form is better than the other because that has unpleasant implications, however there are some forms I don't personally deal in, I don't consume it, I don't take commissions of it, I may personally avoid people who partake in things that personally ick me out, I don't set out to pass any kind of moral judgement however. As an extension of this I don't take "surprise gift" commissions that deal in non-con, it's an imperfect system but all character owners at least need to be involved for me to do those.
The consent of the People involved are what's important to me, the owners of the characters are the sentient consent-giving creatures I need to talk to.
"Don't be an arsehole" basically sums up my world view, I draw the line at hurting Real people and animals, I don't consider thought crimes to be a punishable offence, but may warrant professional support if they're causing distress or harm.
FA's tag system isn't great as there still is no proper filter, and it's impossible to tag all CWs in the title at this time, but I do try to tag the big ones, particularly non/dub-con as that's a big one for a lot of people. I'm always open to requests to add certain things to the tags etc... just hmu in the comments.
I'm not a big fan of the internal policing of queer people by the LGBTQ community at large, so all ya'll 'bad' queers, the trans women who enjoy trap porn, the trans men who like cboys etc... ya welcome here too, I'm happy to do work of that kind, but like wise I do NOT accept the application of slurs to characters whose owners have not consented to it. I don't tag any character as 'cboy' etc... unless specifically requested by the owner, and due to the sensitivity of the topic I may use CWs at my digression. If you're going around referring to trans people by slurs or loaded terminology in my comments, consider yourself, you guessed it, blocked. Play nice.
Trump supporters, white supremacists and cops are unwelcome here. FA's block system is crap, so I can only ask you kindly to fuck off. Keep fucking off. And when you get there. Fuck off again.
Anyway this is vague, yes, but man, I don't want to be sat here for 3 hours trying to explain why I take certain stances on somethings but not on others in fiction, 9 times out of 10 if I don't draw something I just let you know as and when it comes up and we can both just move on. If you've got this far and feel uncomfortable following me then feel free to go, I don't stalk who follows me.
Have a good rest of your weekend.
Disclaimer: I'm, really, super not interested in long form discussions on any of the above topics with people I'm not already pretty well acquainted with. So if I don't respond to something, it's probably just that, I have very limited energy. I'm only leaving comments open on this out of... idk... masochism.

Personally, I couldn't work with someone who condones violence, racism and all the other crap nobody needs, so I'm glad you're someone I can not just like for their art, but their humanity (to say that on a furry side) as well.
I don't always claim to be the sweetest person, but I do take a pretty firm minimal-harm stance as much as I can P= and to be flexible with it irt new information and whatnot.
I can empathize with those who have a bad opinion of the police, but it does hurt to see the genuinely good people I call my friends get demonized for their line of work.
It's not about any one copper in any one country.
In the same way that poc complaining about 'whiteness' isn't a specific person per se, it's the whole mentality.
And yeah, it takes effort to sit back and be like. This isn't about me personally, and to sit on that urge to be insulted--I get it, reading tweets from angry poc can be REALLY uncomfortable at times, it's a strong urge--but it's not personal, it's systemic, and either you want things to get better for everyone, or you're gonna be sat there annoyed cos some guy you don't know implied your mate, who they don't know, is tangentially involved in a journal on FA.
I don't particularly want to interact directly with police of any country, for various reasons, I'd prefer to just not work with them, but I'm not gonna presume anything about them on a personal individual level, though I will look askance at anyone not interrogating why they're doing what they're doing--and I apply this to everyone whose work maybe looked askance at.
He's also lost almost a dozen of his closest squadmates to suicide.
He's been shot at via drive-bys with the PD telling him he can't do anything about it.
He's got a permanent hand injury from being literally beaten in the streets by a perp.
He's taken the taunts of 'fuck the police' and 'fucking pig' in stride while literally taking statements from victims.
He's been penalized and yelled at by his bosses for having some goddamn human decency and not charging the ten bucks a poor family didn't have for the police report printouts about their son who died in a drug deal gone wrong.
And yes, I know, individual vs. the problem as a whole. But these moments aren't just him. They're a representative portrait of the shit thrown at countless other officers I've met. I'd never say "oh I know a few good ones so there's no problems at all." But yeah, it does eventually wear on me to see people I care about so callously generalized to where I may say something inadvisable. Is what I'm doing actually helping? I don't know, but these days, I don't know what to do anymore.
Don't get me wrong, he has my sympathies, as do the people who've died as a result of the trauma the work has done to them.
But he has the option to leave.
He can take the uniform off and say 'I'm not going to be cannon fodder any more'.
Lots of people don't have that option and they're the ones being hurt by a system they can't escape.
I DO have people who want to do good in mind, I think of all the cops who've been fired, ostracised, left in dead-end jobs, denied back up and out right killed for rocking the boat and trying to do the right thing from the inside, but ultimately, I have to prioritise the people who don't have a choice first, and can only urge those who join up because they think they can help to ask themselves... is it working. Or are they better off helping elsewhere. Because there's a LOT of people who would benefit from that energy.
...sorry, got a little off-topic there.
Anyway, at this point with how close he is to his own retirement, he's sticking it out to support both his family and those under him. He got into the force because he thought he could do some real good. Keep saying what you will, as it's certainly your right and I'll defend that to the death. I'm just glad I could have some form of reasonable exchange with you. It certainly is hard to take a step back and think about things objectively when said thing hits so close to the heart.
I could continue but honestly, if this is the argument you're still making, you don't understand the problem.
And I'm mostly ok with everything I read here, stay as good as you are ;] !
As I said to Liquid, I'm not always the sweetest, but I at least approach the world with a minimal-harm view, while the details may vary I can at least usually get along with people on the same page.
If I don't like something harmless I block the artist/tag and move on and I report fash as I find them.
Hope you're doing well, though!
all this to say heLL YEAH! I support you <3
I laughed at your end statement... it does feel 'masochistic' as a creator to draw clear boundaries because it basically delivers idiots to your door/ can make you a target.
Personally, I feel it is essential (especially now) to keep my own work from being co-opted by fascists and others with violent, racist and hate-driven agendas.
Statements like this are the epitome of ‘don’t read the comments’ but I’ve been pleasantly surprised. Guess I haven’t done too bad with the audience I’ve attracted.
Yea, it isn’t always easy to avoid, but if not being able to get furry art from some guy is the one last repercussion they needed to self reflect, well then, I’d better make myself clear. But aside from that I just don’t wanna work with that kinda person.
